Haha no way you just posted this in 2024! I recently got a used OP-Z and had been reading some of your forum posts just the other day. Glad to see more tips

You are the best man! Op-z is so underrated peace of gear but imho this is the best thing that TE ever has done.

This is very comprehensive and deep and opens up a whole new realm for me. Really appreciate your creative use cases. Step components (and the OP-Z in general) can be unwieldy at times, but with the right amount of time and attention it provides endless creative possibilities. Thank you so much.

This is so good. OP-Z deserves much more deep dives. Too many disregard it as too simple. It’s a minioctatrack to me.

Thanks! I might do a deep dive into the arp track at some point. And mini-octatrack is a great comparison. 16 MIDI tracks plus FX & synth engines. Paired with a sampler it's most of what I need.

Your mastery is awe inspiring. This video is amazing. I need to study it and probably rewatch it several times a week for the next couple months. I love the step components, but haven’t understood how to use them in any of these ways yet. This is exactly what I needed! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

You're welcome! I was aiming to make a resource you could rewatch and keep learning from, so I'm happy to hear that.

Wow! I have only used the trigger spark because it was the only step component I understood fully. I knew you could do so much more but I never really took the time to learn more about them, this video was an eye opener. The OP-Z has so many cool features I still learn about. Thank you!

Been following the channel with interest for a while. You are obviously a master of the device. You should capitalise more with more beginner friendly videos. As this although super interesting is as niche as it gets.

Thanks for the feedback and support! The response to this video has convinced me to do exactly that--more beginner-friendly accessible stuff. I have some ideas sketched out, but I'm open to any suggestions you might have.

You're awesome and your skills with the step components are on another level. I'm really having a hard time following these videos. Maybe you could also include some graphics in future videos, to visualize "the math" on how you're thinking? Anyway, keep up the good work 👌🏻🎵

Thanks for this! Ive had my op-z for 4 years and still don't understand or use most of the step components. Do you have a resource you learned all this from? I have so many questions- you went kind of fast and didn't explain some stuff- like what does it do when you select a step component and press the number multiple times? Like pulse-666 or 444. Please make more videos! Thanks 🙏

Thank you for watching! The bad news is that I learned this all through trial-and-error so there's no nicer resource or anything available. I have a thread on op-forums called Advanced Ways to Use Step Components and a lot of videos in my OP-Z playlist on this channel, but I always struggle with going too fast. And to answer your question, the only step components that respond to values being pressed multiple times are the spark components, which flash to indicate the passes they'll apply on. So Trigger Spark 888 will cycle through (only on the 8th pass) to (only on the 1st of every 8 passes) to (the first 7 passes but not the 8th). Hope that makes some sense!

Whoa whoa what? What happens when you press the number 3 times? 444, 666 etc…

Ok I see you answered this one already, thanks! Amazing that years after this device came out there is still so much to uncover… truly an unparalleled sequencer
