My Favorite Lilac Recipes - Lilac sugar & Lilac Syrup (+ a failed infusion)

Hi friends! I decided to make a video with my favorite lilac recipes, I can never resist making something with them every year when they are in season.
I made a lilac infused vodka too, which is infusing as we speak, but my prediction is I won’t be making it again. The scenes did look really pretty though so I decided to include them in the video but without the recipe. I’ll stick to making lilac sugar and syrup! I'll be making a cocktail with the syrup so stay tuned for that :-)

I made lilac-infuaed vodka (& lots of it!!) last year after my husband pruned copious amounts of flowering branches from our lilac bush/tree. It was definitely not yummy as i was expecting but still felt infused with the magic of lilac to me so i ended up using it in mixed drinks which worked out fine. Can't wait to try lilac syrup, thanks!! 💜

I am actually making dandelion syrup right now, and wonder whether the boiling doesn't really kill the goodness of the flowers, Do you know?. Your Lilac method is def.gentler.

Gorgeous! 💜 So sad my lilacs have already gone over. I had Covid while they were in bloom & I didn’t get out to enjoy them. 😢 But I’m feeling much better now & it’s peony & rose season. 🙌 Have you ever made floral vinegar? I bet the lilacs would be perfect for that...I’ve done it with rose petals (for a hair rinse) & it was the most intoxicating shade of pink. ☺️ Thanks for sharing your lovely videos....why are there not more likes?!?!?! Such artistry here!!!💜

Thank you Trisha (and I'm sorry for my late response!). Oh no, it's comforting to know they will bloom next year too.. and roses and peonies aren't bad either ;-) I haven't made floral vinegar, sounds intriguing!

You could not have asked for a lovelier shade of purple! Simply delightful! Thank you for another amazing video, my friend. I am excited to know how your vodka turned out. And how would you describe the lavender sugar? Is it overly aromatic or too strong of a flavor?

The vodka did not turn out well! I decided to throw it out.. now I know! The lilac sugar is not overly aromatic, it's quite mild. The syrup has more flavor but is also quite mild!
