Hey everybody! Thanks for watching this video on "My Favorite Music Videos of All-Time". In this video I'm talking about a bunch of different ways that the medium of music videos works its magic. Whether you're doing some kind of artistic short film, a traditional lip-sync, something super vague and metaphorical, or you wanna test out your creative chops and mix & match these things...the possibilities are endless. From Lady Gaga and Kendrick Lamar, to Bjork and Carly Rae Jepsen, Young Thug to Daft Punk, Rick Astley to OutKast and everybody in between -- here are some of my favorites! Let me know what yours are down below.
favorite / music videos / all time / ever / list / top / kendrick / kanye / gaga / carly / radiohead / best / never gonna give you up / rickroll / take on me / mcr / ok go / daft punk / bjork / etc

To me, the BEST music video ever is Johnny Cash - HURT. Something about it just fucks me up bad. The fact he's basically DYING of old age while recording the video is just heartbreaking. And the editing and cinematography also really shows his regrets with his life of being a famous folk singer and songwriter, knowing that all of that fame is for nothing at the end.

The Jamiroquai video was achieved by the camera being attached to a small set that moved about a larger room. So the floors are never actually moving, it's all the walls, but because Jamiroquai's dancing is so good, he effectively gave the impression that he's moving about on a moving floor.

Formation is pure genius, but then again, Melina Matsoukas is one of the greatest music video directors of all time. There's really only Hype Williams, Jonas Åkerlund and Sophie Muller at her level.

If you ever do something like this again, you should include at least one Rammstein music video. Most of their videos are SUPER over the top, and that isn’t a bad thing at all, since that always means awesome visuals and crazy storylines attached to them.

*Tranz (Gorillaz)* - the character design in the animation is absolutely unreal. The fictional band members of 2D, Hobbs, Noodle, and Ace have wildly different looks and demeanors, perfectly encapsulating the look of a band that's been through the machine and is hitting their breaking point as a group. *After the Storm (Kali Uchis)* - I almost have nothing to say about this video besides how vibrant and expressive the art direction is. Both extravagant and casual, and makes me feel the air of springtime in my soul. *Rattlesnake (King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard)* - The greenscreen and visual effects of this video are so lackluster and dated-looking, even after just 4 years, that I can't help but absolutely love it. It looks like one of the band members got his brother to make a music video in their garage in under 2 hours, and encapsulates the goofy charm of the band wordlessly. *Let It Happen (Tame Impala)* I don't think I can think up a music video that fills me with more of a sense of dread than this one, picturing a businessman dying of an overdose in an airport. It's one of the trippiest, most cerebral, terrifying things I've ever seen. *Harder Better Faster Stronger (Daft Punk)* No need to explain why this one is great. Everyone knows it. The animation sequence is gorgeous and perfectly represents the sense of progress and improvement that themes the song. *Still Feel (Half Alive)* Possibly the best choreography I've ever seen in a music video. Nothing else to say, it's just so smooth and charming. *Just a Cloud (Lusine)* This one is amazingly simple and effective. We see an introverted girl listening to synthwave on the bus in the dead of winter, and it's the moodiest thing you've ever seen. Oh, and then she sees god.

False Alarm by The Weeknd is my personal favorite. Super creative work with a drone plus the first person POV they used for the whole thing, with action happening at all the right times. It’s something straight out of a video game almost.

The video for Telephone by Lady Gaga and Beyoncé is absolutely iconic. Beyoncé breaks Gaga out of prison and then they proceed to drive around the desert in a yellow truck with flames painted on it called 'The Pussy Wagon' and poisoning and enitire roadside diner. I guarantee you it will be the most enthralling 7 minutes of your life

I've always loved the music video for "once in a lifetime" by Talking Heads. The video feels hypnotic and so entertaining. He preforms gestures and ritual like actions like a speaker at a church or holy place would preform. Its an all around great video in my opinion.

I was hesitant in watching this video as I saw some of the comments and the artists mentioned aren't really my thing. But thank God I watched it because I loved the variety in this! I also like how each and every music video has a different reason why. I still think Ok Go is very underrated, and I'm glad how you didn't select a specific one (cause that's how good all of them are). I've already seen more than half of these videos and I took notes of the rest to watch after. Thank you! Really.
