I come from a long line of sweet potato pie makers in the family since 1800s lol seriously though it's a family southern tradition for us men and women bakers. Used to watch my father make sweet potato pie during the holidays every year. He's gone now, so I carry on the tradition. Still need to work on my crust making.

Thanks for sharing...:-) Just made your cinnamon rolls again, so Great! I'm going to make this for Thanksgiving! Stores are charging way too much these days for pies/cakes. Recently I ordered a sheet cake from Cosco, the day before an event. White cake with filling. Best cake I ever tasted, and it was picked up the same day it was made, so fresh! Love your recipes!!! To get the strings out I use a hand mixer. I am using this recipe for Thanksgiving. Thank you so much for your recipe.

I use a hand mixer, then a food processor. The food prior blender gives it a silky smooth texture that the mixer can't.

As a Brit who is fairly new to the idea of sweet potato / pumpkin pie, what temperature is this supposed to be eaten at?

I prefer it cold but some people do like it warm. In stores it's sold room temp (out in the store rather then refrigerated), either way works. Try it warm, then try it cold and see how you like it.
