Me personally when I’m skipping a wacky rig under docks or fishing it around cover then I will go to a Baitcaster. I usually throw a 7’0 medium rod with a high speed reel and 30lb braid to a 12lb flouro leader. A Baitcaster is just way more accurate than a spinning rod in my opinion so if I’m fishing around docks or laydowns then that’s what I like.

Great stuff Tyler as usual, I'm really glad that you also mentioned the leader length and I do the same, not letting that knot get into the reel is a BIG deal, I use the Alberto and keep a 12 foot fluoro leader (8lb.).

I've since switched to 10lb Daiwa J-Braid X8 Grand for my finesse setups, but Power Pro is legit. I landed at 32 lb. flathead on 10lb Power Pro while jigging for walleye. I feel like I get better casting distance with the X8 Grand, and the odds of hooking another fish that big on my finesse setups is not very high lol

Other than the braid size I checked all the drop shot boxes. I will try the 10 lb braid next time I respool. Here’s a thing I do to save more baits. I use clear heat shrink to hook the bait.

I’m not patient enough for a wacky haha. But I have the patience to bounce a Texas rig off the bottom. Probably the amount of input I’m putting in, and I love a Texas rig/jig bite.
