At the end of this video you will know which tool you should use to design your website.
If you are thinking about starting a website you are easily overwhelmed with the huge offer out there.
You probably heard that around 30% of the web is based on Wordpress, but does that mean they it is the best option for you.
And your favorite KZfaqr has most probably a video which is Sponsored by Squarespace, so should you choose that?
Those are just some of the many questions you might have that we will answer in this video.
I’m going to share some personal insider tips I got from working with those platforms, that might surprise you.
Choosing a website for your business or project is a very important decision.
You surely want to make the right decision because if you need to change your website to another platform, it’s going to be a grueling task, believe me, I did that a couple of times it’s not fun.
So you wanna get it right from the beginning.
In this video, we will have different categories for the different projects you might need for a website.
The categories are:
For Fun
Your Own Small Business
Content Creator (Blog)
Web Designer
What we will not cover in this video are E-Commerce sites, that's a whole other topic in itself.
The tools aka the website builders we are going to compare are:
Wix, Wordpress with and without plugins like Elementor, Weebly, Webflow, Squarespace.
And I’m also going to share where I think it’s best to hire a programmer.
But don’t worry, most of these tools you don’t need programming knowledge at all.
As a side note we will not look at Joomla, Gator from Hostgator, Godaddy Editor, Google Sites and all the other builders that are out there, because in my opinion they should not even be considered for most use cases.

This is a great video, very simple and helpful. I think there's one more thing for web designers to consider, which is whether you need to allow your clients the option to edit their website. In this case, Wordpress is a much better option than Webflow. Btw, in Wordpress there's the option to auto-update the plugins, so you don't really have to worry about it.

Great, thank you. This was one of the best comparisons I have seen. I agree with your opinion on Wordpress. I am thinking of moving my clients from Wordpress to Wix, Weebly, or Squarespace. Self hosted Wordpress takes too much time to maintain.

wix is pathetic , WordPress is the best option for professionals and business owners u need to keep ur plugins and themes updated like how your mobile manufacturer sends regular update to keep ur device protected , Wix, sqarespace, weebly is for pure beginers not for professionals

It's much easier than you would think, just get started and learn a little each day. It's so easy now with page builders once you get use to it you can build a website in an hour. Good luck and God bless!

Great video! An awesome breakdown of use case scenarios. I'm a graphic designer looking to create a portfolio website, I've not designed for web before but would like the freedom to design things the way I want to. I thought about using webflow, but from the sounds of what your saying Wix might be the go as it's easier to get the hang of. What are your thoughts?

Yes, I would say wix is the way to go. Webflow I would only use if tou have a basic understanding of Html and CSS and have a specific use case why Webflow and not wix.

I love Wix, but I keep hearing that the SEO is terrible. The problem is this statement is always coming from web developers who’s industry is being disrupted by these website builders (just like taxi drivers don’t like Uber drivers)… So, can someone be honest and tell me is the SEO on WIX really that bad or are these people just trying to protect their industry?

Cheers for this, I have been researching "what size should images be for squarespace?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Fonucass Uncomplex Future - (do a search on google ) ? It is a good one of a kind product for discovering how to rotate your best affilate offers minus the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my neighbour got excellent success with it.

I'm teaching kayak. What is the cheapest (but automatic and efficient) option to get peoples making online reservation. Wix Booking is bad because you cannot display a full month at the same time. It need automatic update to avoid people to book on a full class. Thank for any help, nice video, I've learned a lot! Alex from Montréal

@Dev World Any recommendation for LMS (Learn Management System). I need a solution for a client preferable not Wordpress (plug ins like Learn Dash or Lifter seems like the best)? Can these plug ins be integrated somewhere else?

That's a good question. For WP I like Learn Dash a lot but outside the WP platform, it's probably best if you use a service either like Udemy or I have found a very flexible one in Thinkific (be aware though if you have a German-speaking audience/client that Thinkific sounds a little weird/obscene 😅😅)

Im thinking about switching from wp to Wix. Donehow i love wp But IT gives me headaches. But dont U consider IT a Problem that you are more or LEss "trapped" in Wix? If they raise their prices etc. U cannot Switch to another Host With your Site?

Yes that's what we call vendor-lockin. But it's a business transaction where we trust that wix does not make crazy moves because it's not in their interest either. Similar that we have our mail with gmail, or our chats with whatsapp ... At the end of the day it's a trust thing

Great video! I have a problem. As far as I can see there's no way on Wix to give users the ability to update data that they submitted previously. For example to edit a brief resume or just to change their address. Seems like an elementary requirement to me, which is why I never thought to check it out before I signed up with them. This is an absolute MUST on the site I'm developing. I've done quite a bit of work and now I'm worried it's been wasted. Is there any hack to get Wix to do this? If not, does Wordpress, Squarespace or any other tool allow you to?

Then I would go with wix or squarespace. If you feel comfortable with designing freely go with wix otherwise with Squarespace.

Using Wordpress is a _completely_ different operation than using a website builder service. It's the difference between taking your car to a garage, and changing your own oil, filter, tires, & spark plugs etc. (and buying/ordering your own parts and consumables and tools). a) Do you have ample spare time to invest in learning how it all works? b) Are you interested enough to become technically competent & in control? c) Will you kind of enjoy trouble-shooting, and thinking a lot about the under-the-hood structure of your project? If you'd rather invest your precious (& limited) time & smarts into your site's _content,_ stick with a site-builder service.

I am active as a freelancer and until now I used Wordpress for almost everything and it really annoys me to work with. Do you think it is worth it changing to things like Webflow? It really interests but the monthly subscription style really throws me off (dont even know what would make sense to me). I usually stay administrator for the websites I built so my customers don't need to worry about stuff

I would really look into either Wix/Squarespace. If your clients are small businesses, or webflow if they need a more customized website because they are a bigger business.
