Usually because they are racing to a fuel number to avoid too many pit stops.

As far as I understood it, it has to do mostly with the limiter on redline for the LMP2, it bogs down at about 311 km/h and as you bounce of the limiter you'll go down to about 307-308 km/h. So what they do is to ease of throttle to keep the engine just before the limiter to keep their speed instead of dropping it because of the limiter

Ohh.. So all of you can drive with cockpit cam. Interesting! It should be mandatory, in competitive league racing. Especially in esports races. And 100% race distance is number 1 on the list. Then we would see who is the best. Best concentration,race pace. More strategy options. 2 stop in impossible because you simply don't have enough laps to make it work. Everyone is on the same strategy,same tires,DRS train.. With 100%, would be much more interesting. And on that level of racing,with such a big prizes,it's a joke to drive 20laps and not use cockpit cam,just because it's easier
