Super interesting. I like problems of this sort, where you are asked to deal with Condition A and Condition B, while also having to come up with something, that complements both. And then make it practical. It opens up so much to creative thinking and artistry, but also demands a knowledge of the history of the place. Funny enough, I imediately thought "Oh, do lots of green stuff!" and I was fun to see you going right intro that. :)

Thanks, Jesper! Yeah, the greenness of the area really stuck with me! I think what you describe is why I love architecture so much. You end up learning so many cool things and bringing them onboard your concept!

Stuff like this sometimes makes me feel so overwhelmed haha I haven't even started my bachelors yet, so its kind of intimidating. I love your take on memorializing it. Kind of like a phoenix. Sucks about your computer! 😬 Were you able to replace it?

Hey Amanda- don't worry! I am in a masters program. In school your very first year will be devoted to teaching you how to model and draw and show these sorts of things- and they build up your skills! So don't be intimidated- also keep in mind I have 5-7 years of studying and working in the industry under my belt. I was able to get a new computer but it didn't arrive until literally two hours after I presented my final exam :( but luckily I will be able to use it next semester!

@@KathrynLarsen yeah I wish I had more experience under my belt. I have my associates already. I just applied to a 5 year masters program, so I hope I get in! 🤞 I know the program doesnt teach any computer modeling till the second year, but I have already taken an autoCAD, and 2 revit classes. I've never done anything this involved though. I hope I'm actually that good haha

@@amandajensen4966 that is awesome! Trust me, after 1 year you will be able to do most of this stuff. CAD and Revit are just tools that you grow with along the way, and your first year will probably go over fundamentals that you will build more and more upon! I suck at computer modeling and rendering, so it's one of the areas I am looking to improve myself!

@@KathrynLarsen I hope I can after a year! I think you're great! The way you did all that bat wing stuff then translated it. So fun! It would've been awesome to see it rendered the way you wanted, but I think its great! May I ask if you're more interested in commercial or residential?

@@amandajensen4966 I've done both and public projects as well, and also maintenance operations as well as interior and industrial design. Residential is fun but with private clients it's really stressful- the pressure if you mess up on someone home or something goes wrong on site is intense. I'd prefer to have a mix of projects for that reason, so I can avoid burnout!
