I did my first show 2 weeks ago and sold two things which covered the cost of the entry fee. That first sale was for something I really did not think would sell. Overall though, I had a great experience. I am looking forward to my next one!

Might want to take pictures of your booth before the shows and close ups of your best merchandise because in the future if you want to do juried shows you will need to show them what your booth layout looks like. Congratulations on your first show.

What a wonderful Video you have just shared. So much useful & helpful information and to share it. I have been doing Antique fairs in the Uk and laterly my own Jewellrey tables. I now have to retire. There was so much helpful information for any type of stock to sell at stalls /markets etc. You come across as a very sincere ,lovely person and your number 10 was the best. Congratulations on your first show 👏 🙌 ❤ I have a couple suggestions for you- On your stain colors, you could make a sample board with each one you use and label each color. You could also display your sample color board so when people ask for a certain color they can point it out. I don't know if you had one, but it's a good idea to have an order book for your custom orders handy. If you have an Etsy store or other outlet, you might consider making a QR code sign for people to scan in case they see something they like and decide to buy later. (I have never done a craft show before, but I am working on making some items to be in one. My suggestions come from a few observations I saw in your video, and from other videosI have been watching trying to prepare myself for my first show.) Good luck on your future endeavors!

Hi Heidi. You did an awesome presentation for a first timer. All your tips and lessons are right on. I've been doing shows for about 12 years prior to the pandemic. I've learned to watch the traffic flow, and set your eye catching pieces in that direction. And take credit cards, that can make or break you. I always did better at a smaller venue, but it worked for what I was selling. Two things that worked for me and my products was about every half hour I moved a few things around. People usually do a two time walk around, and I have had sales by doing this. Comments were that they didn't see this or that before. When I get to a show, I do my setup and send a video and/or photos to a few friends that I trust for an honest answer on how my table looks to them. And sometimes I get a "what if you tried this" or "what about doing..." You're setting up with a hundred things going through your mind and some fresh eyes can be a blessing. Good luck in all your future shows.

Good job, Heidi! I took notes while visiting a craft sale to get ready for my first. I have a strong bookkeeping background which helps. I now record every purchase on a spreadsheet when I get home from shopping…wasn’t at the beginning but learned my lesson. I look on Etsy and Pinterest to see what others charge for similar items. I try to have a good variety of items and take pictures of everything. When I had my first custom order, I almost cried. I label all my bins with painter’s tape with contents..hard lesson again. I take the day before to double check everything..yes, another lesson… Great advice. Enjoy your next sale!

I know this is a year old video but, instead of writing down every item's materials, it might be easier for you to make a sample board for custom orders. Small squares with each stain and paint and so on. And then name/number those.

I am having a craft sale this December. I am selling junk journals and am really worried that they wont sell. I have done craft sales years ago when I was doing folk art stuff that i painted. But I live in Winnipeg Manitoba and i dont think junk journals are really known around here. So I am kind of anxious. But loved your 10 things to consider. Thanks

Just came across your channel this morning and I want to thank you for sharing your experience. I’m considering to do my first craft show next month and you gave me the encouragement that I needed. I do have a question about sales of big items like the wood rounds. Do you put them in bags? If so what size of bags and where do you purchase them? I have wood rounds and wreaths and wasn’t sure if most vendors bag them or not.

Get some paint sticks and stain them. Put a name on it. That way people can see it on wood and the name of it. Do the same with chalk paint. String all ribbon on a hoop for the customer to choose from.

Thanks for doing this video and the great advice. I'm planning on doing my first next year, but emailed the person to change to 2024 as my crafts are crocheted items and I need time to build some inventory. One question though, do the show organizers supply the table and chairs? I'm not sure about what to except for payment options, preferably cash and/or e-transfers. What did you do? Thanks again.
