🦷🧠 Welcome to my first in-depth breakdown of an actual patient interaction in the clinic! In this video, I chronicle my experience of placing my first filling in a live patient in dental school, an experience I have looked forward to for a long time. We go through the setup and diagnosis, preparation, filling, and breakdown/prognosis. I discuss the patient interaction, isolation of the tooth, and detailed observations and tips I learned during the process. Let's get into some real dentistry together!!

Still remember my first. I remember my instructor trying to be nice and saying "but did you want to have a tight contact" in the kindest way. Congrats!!

Retraction cord can be super useful when the margins are subgingival or even equigingival for better visibility! Great job

I really appreciate this type of video! The transparency and also the visual aid/narration format you did for this video is really helpful for me as a pre-dent who doesn’t really have that great of understanding of things! 🙏🏽 Amazing work as always! 💯

I literally just had my first operative lecture yesterday about burs and the different classes of lesions so it was so cool to see you talk about it (and quiz myself on what a class V is haha)!! We start operative next week and I’m so excited to use a handpiece!!

Is it common practice to slowly push the anesthetic carpules in the mouth slowly instead of quickly?

in a patient who has good oral hygiene, how much lower of a lifespan do fillings in that area have compared to other surfaces?

Well, actually the block will always depend on the patient’s anatomy, no matter how many you’ve done

The more you’ve done, the more you understand the anatomy of the patient and increase the chance of anesthesia being successful.

Is there anyway you could get photos or videos of your patient’s tooth during the procedure without violating HIPPA? I really wished to see the real procedure on a real patient.
