My First Hillclimb - Wiscombe Park 26 Sep 2020 - Fiesta Stage 4 RT330

Most of the mods that i have done on the fiesta were towards the goal of trying out hillclimbing and so this was a bit of a milestone for me. The video shares my experience as a complete beginner of the hillclimb day, the build up, the preparation, the runs themselves, how the day works etc I hope those newcomers to the sport find this useful to demystify some of the perception. It was a wonderful day, very easy to participate and to get enjoyment from and I would highly recommend the sport. A couple of mentions/links below

Glad you finally realised the 1/2 shift over the finish line was completely unnecessary, it was likely that caused your little "off" in round two no doubt! Congrats on joining Woolbridge MC. My Father was a member from the very early 60's until his death in 2016 and I knew many other members from that time, sadly most of whom have now left us (The likes of Charles Barter, Eric Moxham, Colin Rolls, Paul Shannon, etc) and have fond childhood memories of being dragged down to Devon to camp for weekends during Wiscombe park events when the old man was usually chief Steward. Driving to the event instead of trailering shows either some bottle or the fact you're only going to risk 90-95% enthusiasm. The above mentioned Paul Shannon used to drive his AC Cobra down from Dorchester (loaded with slicks and a trolley jack) change it's wheels, wring it's neck up the hill (generally taking a class win) then wander on home with the silverware, usually after a couple of Sherberts in the beer tent! We are going back 40 odd years though! I love Wiscombe, it's a hell of a hill, just watch the low sun through the trees in the Esses and Sawbench when you're on early practice runs!!

For a first visit that is exceptional. Wiscombe is a tough track. The speed into gate is key and I’m still not there yet

Hi I’m planning on doing the same with my fiesta, from what i understand all the car needs is a 6 point cage, race seats with harness as a minimum for modified class is there anything else I’ll need to fit to the car other than the timing bar?

You’ll need to be a member of a local motor club and they will have people on the committee who can advise of the details. Best of luck with the Hillclimb.

Hi Charlie do you have a lsd/ATB fitted on your car?

Hi JonnyFRS. It has a Quaife ATB LSD. Made a big difference when I had it fitted a couple of years ago. Just about to post a video on stripping another 40kg of weight from the car. Keep an eye out for that. Thanks for the question and Happy New Year
