In this video, I unpack what it’s really like to create a new channel on ‪@KZfaq‬ as a complete beginner. I discuss what’s been fun and what has been challenging during my first month as well as the truth about using paid promotions. Being on youtube is such a ride and there’s some really great content to help you grow. Hi Mara, don't be disappointed. You do have some successes. You have gotten your first 10 subs. You are close to getting your first 100 subs. That's 10 times larger than your first 10 or a %1000 growth rate. Your lighting is good, your sound is good, and your background is good. Given your niche, your audience is concentrating strictly on you and your content. Also, you speak well and directly into the lens. You are doing well, so keep going.

Congrats on KZfaq channel, it's truly a roller coaster and as you said trial and error. I am a small KZfaq, I feel the pain. I find it hard recording a home as well, because I don;t want to show my family. I have a hard time always being in the creative mindset! New follower

You are doing great! I’m 5 months in with my MrFlavorsmith Channel and just hit 917 subs with 12 videos and one of them hit over 35k views but that didn’t happen until two weeks after.

Thanks for your video....very informative! I am not sure how I feel about paid promotions....but thanks for being honest and talking about the steps you have tried! I have heard many other small channels say the same thing with regarding the AVR dropping. Good Luck!

I do think promotion is worth it if you need a confidence boost and also subconsciously I think when you have more subs, viewers are more inclined to follow when they see others have - if that makes sense? Maybe that's just the psychologist in me thinking that!haha Sending you the best for your channel too!

Am a very small channel and stumbled across yours . Subbing and supporting 💪🏻 . Starting anything new is brave and esp from ground zero! Besides putting yourself out there takes a lot of courage! I just began to niche down to the Gen X population . The YT journey does transform you and it doesn’t end! Keep going!

@@lifebehindthereels yes, fasted workouts daily. We've really embraced functional fitness at our age. We lift 2x a week but the rest is farm work, hiking, we're building a house ourselves, etc.

Best of luck Mara. You sound like you are doing such a great job of researching what works and what doesn't and you have realistic expectations. I've been focusing on building one of my channels recently and I've found that many of my older videos are getting a lot more traction - my stuff won't date and so I'm finding the older stuff is helping my stats. Stick with it. It's not easy to turn and produce regular content but it is a lot of fun and for those of us who are "teachers at heart" it gives us a great creative outlet!

@@MARACoach.⁠You are welcome. I have a tip as a youtube viewer (not creator), who spends hours a day watching youtube. Post something on a schedule. Some channels I watch do not let us know when they are posting a new video. It would be helpful to know when, so the subscribers can carve time out to watch. Also, I do not like it when the creator begs for likes and subscribes. I know many successful channels do this, but seeing it in video after video is a bit irritating. Cheers!
