My very first take off and landing with a powered paraglider aka Para motor. Sketchy as Tucker Gott would say:) But things will improve with practice!

Watching this video alone in my living room, I found myself cheering for you aloud! Seeing you aloft actually brought a tear to my eye. Hearing Dave and Nigel's commentary added to the wonder of it all (as I assume the cameraman had not yet flown solo, you could hear his respect for you & slight apprehension for his future flight.). Loved seeing your satisfied happiness during the post-flight debrief to us. Well done, Mr. Jack!

1) Height never killed anyone but lack of it did. 2) You get zero out of 10 for a bad landing but 11 out of 10 for "going around". 3) Always err on the side of caution - there is no stigma in turning around. 4) ATC works for you - NOT the other way around - You're in charge as PIC. 5) Never fly through clouds with rocks in them. 6) Trust your instruments - Always. 7) Experience doesn't make your journey today assured - Refer to point 3 above. Congratulations dear Sir on completing your first solo circuits. Next is your solo overland.

I'm so happy and excited for you Sandy. I really enjoyed this I think as much as you did! I'm really looking fwd to the next video and those to come. I hope you'll speak a little more about the machine specs such as range, and or flight time etc. Thanks again for sharing. I hadn't seen a unit like this before. I had envisioned something more like an ultralight aircraft with a small triangular carriage to ride in/ on. You've really peak my interest so to speak. Take care and be safe.

Wow Sandy that must have been some experience....you are an example to all of us. You don't just talk the talk, you walk the walk and get out there and experience for real. Some sad souls decided to give this a thumbs down probably because they would rather sit on their arse and dream and knock those who get on with it and do it. Full respect to you :)

You want a laugh, try finding some videos of the first attempts at this stuff, before high quality gear was a thing. The ramshackle bits of metal and lawn mower engines people strapped to themselves. Those people had balls of steel imho. There is also some really scary crash videos of these things. Beware though, it may put you off ever trying one. I watched one, something went wrong, the guy tried to pull his wing close enough to throw his reserve, otherwise the reserve can get tangled. He still pulled it to early and the majority of the video is HD audio of this guy falling to what should have been certain death. Raw numbers wise, these things are VERY safe. But that's testament to the people in the sport to date. Now, with some big KZfaq channels that have brought more attention to the sport, they are seeing more and more accidents. Unfortunately, I give it 2 years before they start regulating the hell out of this sport.

Wow like the new hobby sandy looks fantastic, I have been watching all your videos over the past year even though I don't comment, I think that's down to working all hours, anyway short story in this video it brought back memories past and present because before the flying school at Membury I used to work for the contractor who farmed it when it was arable land remember harvesting there back in 2004, and present you drove past my house once on the way there and then again back which was funny to watch also. All the best.

Excellent job sir. Hang in there. Invest in a good wing, macpara, apco or Ozone. Easy to inflate. Once the wing is up, stick with the run, it may lean to one side, but it will straighten. Get a good wind sock at least 20' up. Keep practicing. It gets easier. Keep running until it picks you up, don't jump in the seat. Very happy for you.

My first three solo launches when training for my Gliding License were; medium level cable break, low level cable break, then a successful launch. My scariest landing was as I sank slowly towards a landing on a fence. Nose down at the last minute caused a heavy landing but missed the fence by inches. Great video :-)

I enjoyed your documentary on your first flight! I still remember mine like yesterday, it was 16th October 2011. I wish I had a video of my first. My landing and takeoffs were ropey too and I also landed on my knees and bum quite a few times 😜. It will all come together over time and you never stop learning. Blue skies and welcome to the Paramotor world 😀

Haa that was a real ropey launch Robin. I got a lot better quickly. The light weight Parajet Maverick is the way to go, I also flew with a Bulldog but found the dual harness not quite some comfy, a well built machine though. I had 160 enjoyable flights but now have a dodgy right hip through wear and tear so have decided to retire from footlaunch paramotoring
