If you want to watch a video that gives you a little bit of everything hockey has to offer… I’d watch Alex ovechkin best hits and goals UPDATED. Highly recommend for anyone watching hockey for the first time.

One of the most notorious hitters in recent memory is Swedish player Niklas Kronwall. No55 in Detroit. He hit so hard and so often that his name is no an official verb in hockey lingo. You can hear it a few times in this video "He got Kronwalled".

The guy hit at 3:10 is named Nathan Horton. He got a major concussion from this hit to the head. He played afterward but wasn't as good. Because of this concussion and other injuries, he had to retire at 28. The NHL now penalizes hits to the head more severely.

Dallas looking pretty good this year. Get tickets to a play-off game if you can. You won't regret it. When I was a kid there were fights in about half of games, now it's about 20%. A play-off game you might not see a fight but, oh lord, you're going to see some hits. The video footage does not do justice to how fast these guys are moving, some of these hits are more like a car crash than an NFL hit. Not as many hits as an NFL game but some of them are harder, more force being applied. Momentum = Mass X Speed.

Getting hit is part of the fun....giving hits is most of the fun. You may check the puck carrier as long as you don't make contact with the head (or target the head), or check from behind into the boards where the puck carrier can not protect himself. I went to a Dallas Stars game when I was on a trip to Dallas, and the arena is just beautiful and full of energy. Definitely go!!

Yes there is high school hockey in Texas, but I wanted to share the fun of ACHA Collegiate ice hockey. SMU and TCU both have ACHA D2 men's teams and UNT and Dallas Baptist have ACHA D3 men's teams. Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Texas State, Baylor and ETBU all have clubs as well. Heading north, OU has had a program for a long time and UCO has the national runners up last season. OSU just started and just partnered with the ECHL's Tulsa Oilers for rink time in Tulsa for games as well as a few double headers at the BOK Center in Downtown Tulsa.

@@JbBackFeeble Messi is like McDavid, both are generational talents (Pele in the 60's, Maradona in the 80's [except the hand of god lol] and now Messi followed by Neymar and Ronaldo). Same in hockey. McDavid now, Crosby and Ovechkin before him (still both are fabulous), Gretzky and Lemieux in the 80's. Every sport has their elites in every era

Ovechkin should be a familiar name... seeing as he's the greatest goal scorer of this generation. He just set the record for most goals scored with one team (the Washington Capitals, who drafted him in '04).

Checks ( hits ) are a legal defensive move. You can only check the opposing player who has control of the puck. The legal checks are the hip check and the shoulder check. You can only hit the opposing player between the neck and hip. Illegal checks will draw a penalty ( if seen )

Almost every hit on this video is legal, or at least borderline. There are other videos that show dirtier ones and they’re BRUTAL.

going to a hockey game is a great experience. the crowds are electric. i would say try to learn a bit about the rules of the sport first but you would have a lot of fun

American kids don't generally have access to rinks but Canadians do, along with Scandinavians and a few other countries Hence why there are proportionally fewer Americans in the sport Anyway, the fastest and most exciting team sport you can see IMHO

Lol throw hands eh lol it's not as easy as it looks to fight on skates lol I used to play but not anymore. I was pretty good lol I fought a few times on ice lol its fun but u can expect a response like that from most Canadians lol. Oh n I'm Canadian lol
