As a middle schooler, I didn't care much about music. When people would ask what genres I liked, I'd say the bland, "Oh, anything, except maybe heavy metal. Too much screaming." Then I had a summer camp roommate who blasted heavy metal-and when he put in the Toxicity album into the stereo he brought with him, I was changed forever.

The band are from Armenian descent and are huge activists against war and corruption they spit truth and I love it, every song has a message for example b.y.o.b came out when troops started going to Iraq and protests war, another song like Holy mountains is about the Armenian genocide and a huge middle finger to the Turkish government, they are not just a great band, they are great activists haha

Corona is annoying, here in Germany all schools, kindergardens, etc. are closed for 3 Weeks (and then we've got 2 weeks Easter holidays). And now I've got to do Homeschooling and that's so annoying, cause I'm in grade 11 and next year I have my high-school diploma exams(idk if that's how you call it, but in Germany it's 'Abitur'. You can go study something when you got that haha).

They haven't released an album since 2005 but they have solo projects from that time on-wards you could look into. Recently there was also a petition asking SOAD to officially release a bunch of songs that were recorded at the same time as the last double album.

To answer some of your questions...No, unfortunately they haven't released any music since 2005. Which means the video can't be from 2009. It was uploaded 2009, actually it's from 2001. There are ego fights going on, between the lead singer and the guitarist. They want to pull the band in different directions musically, they can't agree on anything. That's why they all have their own projects going on now. Serj Tankian as a solo artist, the guitarist has a band named "Scars on Broadway" now, the drummers band is "These grey men". The bassist new band is "North Kingsley". But they are still touring together as System of a down.

@@KoRn_NuTT True. Their other projects are good, but only those 4 together makes god like music. I think it's just that they are trying to pull it in different directions, which makes it so unique and energetic. Unfortunately that's also the reason why they fight each other in the studio. This band needs a therapist. I remember interviews where they said something about fist fights and bloody noses during their studio jamming. 😄 They don't get that everything get's a bit generic and boring without bringing together their creative differences.

@@OhrionReacts their solo stuff is also cool. But I want to say that they're not in bad terms with each other. Yes they're not doing new songs togheter, but they do concerts. One of the best of their concet was at 2015 in Yerevan. It was 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and they being proud armenians who always was talking about it came there to give one of their longest concerts. You can find it on KZfaq.

They sadly do not make new music anymore. Shame, they were my gateway band. BUT. Serj Tankian (the vocalist) has released a solo album or two, and Daron Malakian (the guitarist) has his own band, Scars on Broadway. I highly recommend a listen. But just as a warning, the first Scars album is really strange, it's not for everyone, unique would be a great word to describe any Scars stuff. But the later stuff is really good. To recommend a few songs, Chemicals, Funny, and Kill Each Other/Live Forever.
