"Very different from what I'm used to hearing" That's basically SOAD for you, their sound is diverse and different on every album, even within their albums (check out their self titled, it's a trip!). And YES, the harmonies between Serj and Daron are pretty much what sold me when I first heard Chop Suey. I'm stoked you're into them so much, watching you get into them is like hearing them for the first time again. Really enjoying your channel, glad I found you.

My first SOAD song ever. It was about 13 or 14 years ago, needless to say I fell in love. Plus learning they’re all Armenians just like me and seeing what they’ve done and are still doing for the Armenian cause, made me respect them as well. I am very proud of them

This is hands down one of the greatest gems in music in the last decades. The intrumental craftmanship, the riff, the voice, the beauty of the harmonies, that riff again, the lyrics, that chorus. Pure gold!

The way I understood this song is derived from the waterfall portion... we all start the same and join up at the end of the stream/waterfall and that could be a metaphor for death

I love that you quickly did a google search on the meaning, all soad songs are deeper than you think :) they are pretty much activists haha you should do that to all of them and you'll be like woah🙌 next listen to 'prison song' its about how drug money runs the world and how the prison system is a joke also 'holy mountains' it's about the Armenian genocide it's like a big f you to the Turkish government, the band are Armenian so it's pretty brutal haha even Serj's song 'empty walls' is a mind blower

You should check out something by Alter Bridge. "Blackbird" is pretty amazing both lyrically and especially vocals/instrumentals. I'd love to see you react to "Words Darker Than Their Wings" Live At The Royal Albert Hall (OFFICIAL VIDEO), but I have a feeling that one is hard to get past the copyright overlords. If you want something heavy from System of a Down (SOAD), check out "Sugar" - it's fast, kinda goofy, and pretty hard/heavy. They probably have other harder stuff, but that's one of their more popular ones that must be heard/experienced.

Basically what I get from it is like, “when you lose small mind you free your life”.. so like, don’t be narrow minded, look at the big picture of everything. Most people can be very narrow minded which can cause them to kind of stall out on gaining knowledge or growing as a person. Idk 🤷🏻‍♂️ what I said might not even make sense.. like this song... . It is a multilayered look at fame and how everyone tries to conform and how that is alien for us but also compounding with the idea of how our society/world is being guided by a more advanced race. At least that is what I have always taken away from it.

For me the way the video plays feels like a take on fame, how the people around him kind of use him up until there's nothing left. They make money off of him, and from the outside it looks like a pretty good life, but you see how he's not really happy.
