I used those accessibility aids especially the one button combo to save my hands & wrists after having CTS surgery a few years ago. When you start acquiring more elemental powers it’s actually pretty awesome as the game cycles through all your equipped attacks just by constantly pressing the square button. Auto heal is also great to use in fights.

Am I crazy for thinking that Final Fantasy has literally always had a lot of long cutscenes and extended dialog segments? It feels like ever since the Souls games got mainstream "story" has become some sort of dirty word.

Great job Alanah, glad to see you're enjoying this one as much as I am. Quick tip for next time, that big metal pointy thing in your right hand is way more effective than the sparklers flying from your left 😄. That said, I always advocate for people enjoying a game the way they want to, it's hard to take the mage out of the woman. You can also hold and release the magic burst for a charged version that packs a punch. I'm finding the default mappings very intuitive for combat, but I appreciate your reasons for changing them. Hope you can stream some more soon.

FF being back in a fantasy setting has me intrigued.

I just found it easier to get used to the default control system with R1 as dodge. Yes, 1st 2 or 3 hours I kept pressing circle to dodge, but after 2 or 3 hours I got used to it. I can understand why R1 is dodge with the Eikon Powers as circle. Just Started NG+, and yes it has some flaws like the crafting and gearing could be better, but for so far this year is my GOTY, at least until probably Starfield is released. The story is great, and I even had some YES!!!! moments in some of the cutscenes and Eikon battles.

I am really enjoying ff16 so much. I would even say I LOVE it. I am about half way through the game. I really enjoy all the lore and am really emotionally invested in the story. Can’t wait til you interview Clive

I for one, can't stand this idea that's spreading like a bad meme that cutscenes(like Shiva v Titan) are now a bad outdated thing and we need to be doing something every second the game is going. Especially in FF where they've always been a reward to witness for progressing. I don't want to be distracted trying to fight stuff or follow a path while this amazing thing is happening above me, that world be supremely frustrating as a player. Unfortunately with modern graphics as good as they are, they've stopped putting in as much effort to have the graphics during cutscenes be such a leap above regular gameplay, and I think that's a shame. And I find nothing special in cutscenes being real time in engine. Why would I care about that when I'm here to see a spectacle, not be impressed by the underlying tech. I'm playing a game, not studying code.

First couple of hours is very cutscene heavy they do get spread out much better after the prologue but this is a FF game with generous amounts of cut scenes but the pacing gets better between all the frequent combat. I love the cutscenes, the awesome new combat system, the characters and the darker themed story very much inspired by GOT.

After a while I just stopped using the ranged magic, it's honestly pretty useless. It does no damage compared to the sword and I haven't found any way of really making it stronger, so it's just a waste of time. Not even sure why it's in the game. Other than that, I've enjoyed the combat, especially the deeper into the game I get.

I must say, the noises the protagonists make during combat are a HUGE stumbling block for me; having to hear "Uah! Hah! Uah! Uah! Uah! Raah!" throughout the fight would get on my nerves really fast. If there was a way to turn it off, I would consider buying this game.

The game seems really cool, I just wish they remembered to put lights in. Maybe the lights are DLC I dunno

alanah seems too be confused about the story so far. hit the tab for more infos during cutscenes, and paying attention too cutscenes and what they are saying is also important too keep up with whats going on. it is an final fantasy in the end story and characters are very important. if you miss a peace of information because you can`t concentrate long enough the devs can`t do anything about it. thats why in modern movies and series everything is explained all the time on repeat. people can`t seem too concentrate anymore for longer than 20 seconds sadly. and most nobles where not like devils, this is a very good depiction for them in the game. don`t know what you learned but most don`t where bad people. they lived in the little world they had back then. today people think it was allways like it is since a 100 years, but it was not, it was very very different from today. life was a struggle too survive for all people every day. rich had more but not as much as we have today. our standart of living in todays world and in an rich country, is far better than anything people had since our species become one species. the age people died 200 years ago was 40, and the more you go back the earlier it gets. beeing married and have childs was normal with 18 back then. even nobles and kings where rare when they get 50 and older back then. staying alive was a much much harder task then it is today in an rich country. there are some countrys where people don`t life in an rich country and they also die earlier and get married earlier. most country`s we have today are not rich, only a few are. and remember there are over 200 countrys in the world. millions die every year because they haven`t enough too eat or drink, and many more die from illness. you think the black plague didn`t exist anymore think again. most of us life in rich country`s and we most of the time hear nothing about the problems people have so we can`t see, what privileage it is that we life in an rich country. so people get ignorant and think there own problems are the worst they can have, but no it is not. if you never experienced a few years of your life where you suffering because you are hungry or thirsty, than you know nothing what it means too be alive. all what people today care about is what something looks like and how much money they have or what they want the most, but they forget that not beeing hungry all the time not beeing thirsty all the time is whats matters the most. we are the terrible nobles now, that can`t have enough and deny everything that we don`t want too see. we discuss in todays world what, gender is the right gender, what too eat is the right thing too eat, and so on. but we also forget that there are millions of people out there that dream too have our problems, because they have it much much worse than we can even think of. and the absolut worst about most people today is, that they think the life they have will go on like this forever, believe me it can get worse every day, we had luck the last 100 years that this planet is in deep sleep and nothing big happend, this is absolutly uniqe in history that nothing big happend in the last 100 years. and it will not go on like this forever, something big will happen someday, we can only pray too whatever we believe in that this will not happen during our lifetime. if a big thing happend everything will change from the ground up and every life we now have will be the past. because if it happen then only survival is important not, some other childish stuff that we care about so much today. most people will not read all of it or even can understand it, but for those that do read it and understand it, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I´am no native english speaker and i do not life in an country where english is spoken or writen on an regular basis, so sorry for any failure of the words i choose too wrote here, thank you for your understanding.

This game could have been an animated movie with all the cutscenes

FF12 still has the best gameplay hands down. FF7 remake has steps in the right directions but is a MAJOR letdown. I dont get how Kingdom Hearts literally exists and a modern standard for gameplay is still hard to be established. Im going to have to play this myself
