LotR was written by a man who survived one the worst battles of WWI, but it's also one that helps the reader survive their own worst battles of life. And in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even the darkness must pass.

Saruman (the one whose hair is always perfect as you said) is played by the actor Christopher Lee. Christopher Lee also had an impressive military career, including serving in the British military during WWII. Christopher Lee’s cousin was Ian Fleming who wrote the 007 James Bond books, and has said that his cousin Christopher Lee’s time in the British Secret Service as a Nazi hunter during WWII was the inspiration for Jame Bond.

I wish he got to read this comment. I’ve seen entire comment threads conversing about Sir Christopher Lee! Met Tolkien several times too and JRR Tolkien himself said if there was to be a adaptation done in love he’d want Christopher to play as Gandalf or Saruman! ❤

One part of this that made me sad is that in the book, Frodo evaded the black riders by himself. A tiny Hobbit on a huge horse. This line was taken from him: "You shall have neither the ring, nor me!"

Tolkien didn’t like that elves were depicted as small, diminutive creatures from Victorian times, so he set out to make them tall. Many were 6’6”or more in his world. In fact, height & kings/leaders of men & elves seemed to be tied together. Hope you enjoyed the movie!😊 Cutting his finger off was an adaptation choice Peter Jackson made to simplify the scene. In the book the 2 kings (of elves & men) died defeating Sauron & Isildur cut the Ring off after he was “dead”.

The movies are masterpieces but they do Isildur some unintentional injustice. (To show consistency of the coercive & corrosive power of the ring), In book he NEVER succumbs to the ring, he instead spends his time being a fair ruler who practically gave power away to the people INSTEAD of being power hungry. He comes to realize that he is not powerful enough to truly bend the ring to his will. That it will eventually overcome him. Isildur resolves to give the ring to Elrond but is killed on the way to Rivendel. It's a tragic story of a man that tries to right his wrong but ultimately fails. In the books isildur literally repented and was about to bring the ring to Rivendell and apologize as he recognized it was beyond him even for a great numenorean connected to the faithful line of the mighty Elendil I preface the prologue & war, other depictions I LOVE, captured the themes WELL, the vibe of the whole trilogy! The significance of the duel between Elendil & Sauron was Nerffed; (He wasn’t some random old bloke in armour getting smacked around) This man was MIGHTY and gleaming with power which you’ll find out in the great videos you’ll soon react to with joy! * He and Gil-Galad; last true Elven King battled Sauron and slayed Sauron’s physical body and both died in the process. GilGalad was held high by the face for all free peoples to see as he then incinerated his bodily form to a crisp of ash! Isildur was part of the fight too but not as prominently and he just comes up to the body to cut the ring finger off and…. So one example is how easily Sauron is killed in the intro. * • He's set up as this super powered badass, but all you have to do is cut off his finger? That's not how it went down in the book, where the greatest man-king and the greatest elven-king had to double-team Sauron to strike down his body, but were killed in the effort (Isildur then cuts the ring from the corpse). Especially for elves the title of king has many meanings & by the Third Age there isn’t a population large enough to even attempt to such a thing as creating a unified kingdom, which would put a target on their backs, let alone many of them are beyond all of that anyway as it’s seen as doing more harm than anything good. * They also seen what happened when the elves fell upon the swords of their own hubris and passion no matter if it was for the right reasons some of the time. That it always ended up in some sort of tragedy which sometimes even damaged the earth itself. They had long known about what’s called the Long Defeat as ever since Morgoth’s marring of the land itself; pouring his remnants into it that caused the “magic” to slowly drain away from the land itself, which is sad because for ages several clans of elves were born there. even the greatest ancestors were “born” in middle earth awakening to the stars ! Many of who are left have accepted the next phase of their life which is to become councillors, healers and loremasters to those with the heart to listen and the desire to learn. But above all the guardians and custodians of several things and the world itself for as long as they can remain!❤ The elves “exist” as long as the world does. And Tolkien made it obvious in many ways that it’s our world as he restored Anglo Saxon culture/Mythologies and folklore, and their languages too alongside Irish, Welsh and Finnish mythologies too. Especially Norwegian(of which I am) This is what Amazon (the show that shall not be named) didn’t deliver either [[AKA the actual story which inspired everything we love into existence with games and movies and books and so forth. Skyrim, elder scrolls, oblivion, Diablo, and world of Warcraft and D&D. And Game Of Thrones was hugely inspired by Tolkien… yet as the godfather of everything and the heart of what caused many peoples lives to be saved cannot get the justice it deserves for adaptations? People literally conquered cancer because of the books and the trilogy, the books were read to their children for years. All 25 of them. The man was a hugely respected scholar and professor in the world. Translated ancient artifacts and hieroglyphs and petroglyphs and so forth for the government etc. (JRR Tolkien even rejected being recruited into the CIA several times & he wrote everyone by letter and referenced the dudes who came to him as “little boys who knew not what they got themselves into” which showed his fearlessness.). The readers of the trilogy that came out are who he writes back to despite always replying to everyone back and forth. Many people have shared the stories regarding these conversations which were past down throughout the family lines of the people who had a personal relationship with Tolkien which was hundreds of people when he was alive. Thousands. (Some are in video format too or happened to be shared later on in the video or comes up during a video about him and his work. Especially nowadays when many of us came out of the woodwork to defend professor Tolkiens legacy from amazons money grubbing hands and so forth. Giving many channels a new lease on life where some make Tolkien related content now amongst other things they create content wise.

The song heard when the elves were spotted in the forest by Frodo&Sam near the beginning of the movie: The Elves were singing & chanting a very special Hymn along their journey:(With English translation) * Á Elbereth Gilthoniel “o Elbereth who lit the stars” * silivren penna míriel “from glittering crystal slanting falls with light like jewels” * Ò menel aglar elenath “from heaven on high the glory of the starry host” * na-chaered palan-díriel “to lands remote I have looked afar” ò galadhremmin ennorath “from tree-tangled middle-lands” * Fanuilos, le linnathon “and now to thee, Fanuilos, bright spirit clothed in ever-white, I will ... sing” * nef aear, sí nef aearon “here ... beyond the Sea, beyond the wide and sundering Sea” * Ã Elbereth Gilthoniel² “o Elbereth who lit the stars” * Ò menel palan-diriel “from heaven gazing far” * le nallon sí di’nguruthos “here overwhelmed in dread of Death I cry” * Á tiro nin, Fanuilos “o guard me, Elbereth” (The elvish name given to Varda is Elbereth Gilthoniel is one of the main Valar who are of the main group of entities known as the Ainur who sang the world into being and helped shaped it further from within after some entered into the young world. She is most loved & honoured by the elves for many reasons) It’s very important as regarding the elves history that spanned over 40,000+ years. Because even one of the three high kings within Valinor was 30,000 years old well before the third age. Galadriel is his granddaughter just do you know. Yeah. She’s very important throughout the entire histories. They are passing away with what’s left of their kin to the undying lands. Many thousands had their home in middle earth just like the high kings ancestors that woke to the stars. Their birth is shrouded in mist as is their entire existence itself. That in itself is a whole story. You’d love to react to the immersive and entertaining lore videos like moviejoob & OmarioRPG have done. It’s ever vast and rewarding to let touch your soul.❤❤❤❤ Varda is a Quenya name of Valarin origin meaning "Sublime", "Exalted" or "Lofty" Elbereth is name given to her by the elves meaning ‘Star Lady’ Gilthoniel essentially means Star Kindler An original title of Varda, meaning 'the Kindler', and deriving from her making of the first faint stars in ancient times which was to light the dark world which had no sun yet and they loomed over the original Dark Lord (Fallen Valar named Morgoth by the elves) who he feared most above all even as supposedly he was the mightiest and first of all Ainur to ever exist (Ainur is the ultimate race of both Maiar and Valar) When, long afterwards, she used the dews of Telperion, (one of the two sacred trees that predated the Moon of which it birthed later on) to kindle brighter stars still, this honorific name seems to have fallen out of favour. After that time she was called instead Elentári, the Queen of the Stars.

I think Gandalf's reasoning for having Frodo take the ring at first was that at least locally he wouldn't draw too much attention, and since it took 60 years for the ring to beging to corrupt Bilbo, frodo would be safe from it for a while, psychologically. He probably also didn't want any more people knowing about the ring than absolutely necessary.

The song Aragorn sings has huge importance! Here is the full version: “The leaves were long, the grass was green, The hemlock-umbels tall and fair, And in the glade a light was seen; Of stars in shadow shimmering, Tinnúviel was dancing there, To music of a pipe unseen And light of stars was in her hair And in her raiment glimmering There Beren came from mountains cold; And lost he wandered under leaves; And where the Elven-river rolled. He walked alone and sorrowing. He peered between the hemlock-leaves; And saw in wonder flowers of gold Upon her mantle and her sleeves And her hair like shadow following Enchantment healed his weary feet That over hills were doomed to roam And forth he hastened, strong and fleet And grasped at moonbeams glistening Through woven woods in Elvenhome She lightly fled on dancing feet And left him lonely still to roam In the silent forest listening He heard there oft the flying sound Of feet as light as linden-leaves Or music welling underground In hidden hollows quavering Now withered lay the hemlock-sheaves And one by one with sighing sound Whispering fell the beachen leaves In the wintry woodland wavering He sought her ever, wandering far Where leaves of years were thickly strewn By light of moon and ray of star In frosty heavens shivering Her mantle glinted in the moon As on a hill-top high and far She danced, and at her feet was strewn A mist of silver quivering When winter passed, she came again And her song released the sudden spring, Like rising lark, and falling rain And melting water bubbling He saw the elven-flowers spring About her feet, and healed again He longed by her to dance and sing Upon the grass untroubling Again she fled, but swift he came Tinnúviel ! , Tinnúviel ! He called her by her elvish name And there she halted listening One moment stood she, and a spell His voice laid on her: Beren came And doom fell on Tinúviel That in his arms lay glistening As Beren looked into her eyes Within the shadows of her hair The trembling starlight of the skies He saw there mirrored shimmering Tinnúviel the elven-fair Immortal maiden elven-wise About him cast her shadowy hair And arms like silver glimmering Long was the way that fate them bore O'er stony mountains cold and grey Through halls of ireon and darkling door, And woods of nightshade morrowless The Sundering Seas between them lay And yet at last they met once more And long ago they passed away In the forest singing sorrowless” The true elvish version is far greater and so full of beauty & nuanced mournful sadness that’s break the hearts of mortals from its beauty and sadness so the true song has been sort of taboo and the mannish tongues that retell it is stated to only be a shadow beneath the tree of the true story! (A clip of it is in the original definitive version though. Viggo Mortenson who plays Aragorn designed the melody and style himself and wished it to sound Celtic in nature.)

Firstly: All 16 rings were meant to go to the elves ( which lead to 300-500years of his infiltration & deception down the drain.) but Mairon of the Maiar(primordial angelic beings in simple terms as they are sort of beyond angels) disguised as a high elf named Annatar when he came to the elves pretending to be an emissary from Valinor on behalf of the Valar so it makes sense how alluring the ring is and how strong it’s pull on people is. (A bit too instant in the movies though) Galadriel soon saw right through him and especially when after speaking with him regarding not remembering him when in Valinor long ago where she learned from all the Valar thanks to being dominantly Vanyar/Teleri side over her Noldorin side where she gleaned from that encounter that she did not study under Aulë the Vala with any elf named Annatar ! But later named Sauron by the elves meaning deceiver! After all of this, The three elven rings were made in secret without Saurons touch upon them thanks to Celebrimbor! Remember Gandalf before he became Gandalf was the same species of entity Sauron used to be!! Wow hey? The Rings in this case, would have lost their powers eventually due to the lack of the One Ring and possibly because they were designed to defeat evil, & evil in the form of Sauron had been defeated twice already in the past. The Three Elven Rings served their purpose for a long time. Two out of three of them had several different bearers Unlike the other Rings, the main purpose of the Three is to "heal and preserve", as when Galadriel used Nenya to preserve her realm of Lothlórien over long periods. The Elves made the Three Rings to try to halt the passage of time, or as Tolkien had Elrond say, "to preserve all things unstained". I can expand upon this based on any further statements & questions you have for me as a reply to this comment ! ❤ There is problem here with the Rings, the Three were supposed to be never touched by Sauron and that's why they were not corrupting…Sauron had not taken part in their making which made the Three more 'pure' unsullied by his dark power, unlike the Nine and Seven Rings! But Sauron in the show touched the very material they were made of!!! So technically he could have tainted them and corrupted! Even appendices of Lot tell us the order of making the rings, so they didn't even need the righs to more detailed writings in UT or Silmarillion: 1200 Sauron endeavours to seduce the Eldar. Gil-galad refuses to treat with him; but the smiths of Eregion are won over. The Númenoreans begin to make permanent havens. c. 1500 The Elven-smiths instructed by Sauron reach the height of their skill. They begin the forging of the Rings of Power. c. 1590 The Three Rings are completed in Eregion. c. 1600 Sauron forges the One Ring in Orodruin. He completes the Barad-dûr. Celebrimbor perceives the designs of Sauron. 1693 War of the Elves & Sauron begins. The Three Rings are hidden." 'Did you not hear me, Gloin?' said Elrond. 'The Three were not made by Sauron, nor did he ever touch them. But of them it is not permitted to speak. So much only in this hour of doubt I may now say. They are not idle. But they were not made as weapons of war or conquest: that is not their power. Those who made them did not desire strength or domination or hoarded wealth, but understanding, making, and healing, to preserve all things unstained. These things the Elves of Middle-earth have in some measure gained, though with sorrow. But all that has been wrought by those who wield the Three will turn to their undoing, and their minds and hearts will become revealed to Sauron, if he regains the One." The 3 Elven Rings are not susceptible to “The One Ring” in any direct way.. They’re only tied by fate to lose their power if Sauron is defeated completely & absolutely. As they were made by the elves and as always they make things for a purpose and pour their literal spirit into things they create. So if Sauron is defeated then the three rings power will fade and basically become almost useless or diminished versions of their original design since by this era magic has bled from the world by a huge degree thanks to Morgoth’s poisoning the world itself with his very essence that he poured into it. Called The Long Defeat By The Elves and The Men Of The West

25 minutes in, you make a suggestion that I didnt consider, and I have an answer for you, The reason why The One Ring was able to keep Bilbo alive for so long, was because aging is a thing of nature, and the world, which Sauron wishes to dominate. Harm and pain are never prevented by it.

Bilbo Walking Song: “Roads go ever ever on, Over rock and under tree, By caves where never sun has shone, By streams that never find the sea; Over snow by winter sown, And through the merry flowers of June,Over grass and over stone, And under mountains in the moon. Roads go ever ever on Under cloud and under star, Yet feet that wandering have gone Turn at last to home afar. Eyes that fire and sword have seen And horror in the halls of stone Look at last on meadows green And trees and hills they long have known” The original version of the song is recited by Bilbo in the last chapter of The Hobbit, at the end of his journey back to the Shire. Coming to the top of a rise he sees his home in the distance, and stops and essentially sings what I shared above! There are three versions of this walking song in The Lord of the Rings. The first is sung by Bilbo when he leaves the Shire and is setting off to visit Rivendell: “The Road goes ever on and on, Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with eager feet, Until it joins some larger way Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say.” The second version is identical except for changing the word "eager" to "weary" in the fifth line. It is spoken aloud, slowly, by Frodo, as he and his companions pause on their way to Crickhollow, looking beyond to lands that some of them have never seen before. The third version is spoken by Bilbo in Rivendell after the hobbits have returned from their journey. Bilbo is now an old, sleepy hobbit, who murmurs the verse and then falls asleep. “The Road goes ever on and on Out from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, Let others follow it who can! Let them a journey new begin, But I at last with weary feet Will turn towards the lighted inn, My evening-rest and sleep to meet.” 1977: The Hobbit (1977 film): Sections of the poem are sung during the trip through Mirkwood. It appears on the soundtrack titled "Roads". 1980: The Return of the King (1980 film): A song inspired by the poem is sung at the end of the film called "Roads Go Ever, Ever On". 1981: The Lord of the Rings (1981 radio series): Bilbo sings the song as he leaves Bag End. It is sung by John Le Mesurier to a tune by Stephen Oliver. 1997: An Evening in Rivendell: The Tolkien Ensemble adapted an original melody to the song, composed by Caspar Reiff. 2001: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring: Parts of the song are sung by Gandalf in his first appearance, and also by Bilbo as he leaves Bag End. 2006: The Lord of the Rings Musical: The poem is the basis of the song "The Road Goes On" sung by Sam, Frodo, Merry, and Pippin in the first act. 2014: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies: Lines of the poem partially make up the lyrics of The Last Goodbye, performed by Billy Boyd(Pippin) for the credits of the film. This is just stuff to know when you see the next films. Maybe seeing this will spark something you read here or in other people’s comments via future reactions to the other 2 films as well as the 3 The Hobbit movies!

The 9 Nazgûl are blind and basically deaf also, they can only "smell" the ring and the energies of the Unseen Realm. Sauron was always weary of The WitchKing Of Angmar, (The Leader Nazgûl), would launch an attempt to usurp his power. He and his forces almost singlehandedly destroyed the three kingdoms of Númenoreans, at the region of Arnor, mainly by spreading plagues upon the land with what is called The Black Breath. How sad is it that they "achieved" a twisted form of immortality but now they cannot interact with nor enjoy the world around them. The envy a portion of the Númenoreans had for the elves. basically led these individuals to such a choice, one by one of the 9 falling to Sauron at different speeds, and some even did good for the world for quite a while.

“Nobody Trust An Elf” - Fuller story With a certain clan of dwarves: A giant set of events throughout the ages caused a huge rift between dwarves & elves since before any elf saw actual Dwarves. Elves are the firstborn. Men are the secondborn. Dwarvish forefathers were created by the hands of one of the Valar named Aulë, then essentially Eru Îlluvatar(AllFather) breathed life into them to later wake up at a later point in a future era since Aulë was still excited to create things of his very own. It’s also why dwarves overall can resist the rings power and so forth. There were these beings became known as Petty Dwarves in the books where these beings were super hostile and the elves thought it was just another spawn of Melkor (now Morgoth) so when they finally did see actual dwarves they killed them on site. Back then they thought these “petter dwarves” as we call them to be other machinations of Morgoth seeing as how he and Mairon>Gorthaur>Sauron have been terrorizing the land and permeating shadows living nightmares throughout the land for thousands of years…. That and dwarves were keen on chopping down trees by huge amounts so you can kind of see why… but this was only the beginning. But it’s not a very good start. Buuut not all dwarvish clans share this rift as the creator of the 16 rings was an elf named Celebrimbor and is one of the best characters ever. His main smithery guild in Eregion was full of dwarves and elves called the “Gwaith Ír Mirdain”. Even Gimli’s father was really close to a certain elf I won’t name yet! ❤ Not all dwarves were enemies to elves. Galadriel and her brother were best friends with dwarves. Famously the fortress of Nargothrond was built by Finrod Felagund with the dwarves! It was only a certain clan that killed Elu Thingol! (Elwë) Galadriel & her elder brother Finrod Felagund were best friends with the dwarves. Finrod was named Felagund by the dwarves meaning “Earth Hewer” from the fact he helped them build the great fortress called Nargothrond of which he was the elven lord that ruled there justly. Was the same for Celebrimbor and the dwarves of Eregion especially the guild called Gwaith Í Mirdain. His bestie was Narvi the dwarf. Narvi and Celebrimbor created the doors of Moria. Moria is also the elvish name for Khazad Dûm. This gift for Gimli set it into imperishable Crystal and would be the only thing left in middle earth that holds the light of the two trees of Valinor (Valanor by the Eldar). It’s basically the uncursed version of the Nauglamir. He named it The Galadramir. ❤ If you search for 'victorian hair art' then you can see what amazing things people created with hair in the past. Craftsmen as dwarfs were, I imagine that Gimli must have created something beyond exquisite! Gimli attacking the ring shows it has no hold over him just like the Dwarvish rings out of the 16 meant to go to the elves had no hold over them. So technically they could easily be used offensively and defensively but many disappeared over the ages mainly due to Sauron collecting them back again over the last few thousand years. One or two eaten by dragons (not simple minded beasts here. They were twisted and enhanced beings by Melkor/Morgoth(Saurons Upperclassman as far as the Ainur face goes.). There were only a few of them and their offspring are lesser drakes throughout middle earth. Most recent one you’ll see in The Hobbit movie and one other most recent dragon left of the originally created dragons was Scatha, of which I don’t think Scatha even has wings or could fly in any permanent sort of way. “Evil cannot create. Only twist and warp what is already natural to the world”

“Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk, agh burzum-ishi krimpatul.” These words were disturbing to any Elves who heard them as well as made them gravely ill, if it doesn’t kill you or make you go deranged first which as for most of mankind may have more dire effects, as any words of that "Black Speech". When Gandalf recited them at the Council of Elrond, the sky darkened and the Elves trembled and covered their ears. This was the first time words of that language had been spoken in Rivendell. Roughly translated, these words mean: “One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them.” At some point following the gifting of the rings, a verse was written and kept as part of the Elven-lore as a way to make sure everyone remains vigilant since he could always find other ways to interact with the world and deceive someone into toppling the entire world, what's left of it.: (Full poem inaction below) ☆"Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky, Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone, Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die, One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie. One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie." ☆ ◇Oddly enough: From the poem, we get the numbers, coming from the number of rings, 3, 7, 9, 1. Now, if these numbers are flipped, we get the year 1973, THE YEAR IN WHICH HE DIED!◇ ((Mordor {BlackLand}wasn’t always what it was either, it was given this name after it became this way. Let’s just say it was once a VERY beautiful land where elves lived and then I believe certain clans of mankind later on. ❤. You’ll find no work of art is as detailed and endless as the works of veteran and Oxford professor named John Ronald Raul Tolkien. ❤ When Isildur cut the ring from Sauron's hand, it was burning hot, and so Isildur was able to transcribe the inscription before it faded. He described it to be written in an elven-script of Eregion in a language that was not known to him. Gandalf first learned of the inscription when he read the account that Isildur had written before marching north to his death and the loss of the Ring. When Gandalf subsequently heated the ring that Bilbo Baggins had found and passed on to Frodo, the inscription appeared, leaving him in no doubt that it was the One Ring. Long before, at the creation of the One Ring, the smiths of Eregion who had forged the other Rings of Power heard in their minds the voice of Sauron, reciting the words. They then realized his plans, removing the rings from their fingers. The inscription is in black speech. Twisted and cursed elvish and Adúnaic but prime black speech is twisted Elvish.

Extended scenes at risk of being missed and their importance: 1• Frodo/Sam's first meeting with the elves, providing context for Valinor and the elves journey there, as referenced throughout the films and seen at the end of the Return of the King(connects to the passing of the elves in the beginning of their leaving the shire when Frodo and Sam are near the Old Forest by the Shire which leads them to eventually bumping into Merry And Pippin! (An epic scene with Gandalf in Rivendell was also removed as well.) 2. Aragorn singing the Lay of Luthien, providing a parallel between the events of the Beren and Luthien and Aragorn's relationship with Arwen of which every reactor channel I’ve seen makes the connection and it pulls them into a deeper understanding of their relationship every single time. 3. Aragorn kneeling at his mother's grave, giving him some additional backstory for the viewer. 4. Gandalf explaining to Frodo about the corruptive power of the Ring, and how it will strain the Fellowship from the inside, foreshadowing Boromir's downfall. 5. Sam singing a lament for Gandalf, providing more emotional weight to Gandalf's death, referencing the start of the movie and strengthening the connection between him and the Hobbits ( also highlights Tolkien's love of song and poetry in the books). 6. Galadriel giving the gifts to the Fellowship, providing context for their appearance in later films, as well as drawing a parallel between Gimli's gift and the events of the Silmarillion (Fëanor & Galadriel). That’s just the beginning. Including several removed scenes between Aragorn & Galadriel and Aragorn with her husband Celeborn! 7• also the opening explaining Hobbits & their culture to the viewers, so they have a better understanding of these peoples we will be following which also was the direct full chapter called Concerning Hobbits.

Yo I love the fact the you light up before watching! This is the reaction channel I've needed. Also I did just find you from this video and this is my favorite trilogy. Hopefully you like fantasy, cause this book series pretty much inspired all modern fantasy stories including things like Game of Thrones and shit. Hope you enjoy the story and all the behind the scenes of this movie are dope too. The entire cast moved to New Zealand for a year to shoot. Some characters' chain link armors were made entirely by hand across 3 years. Wild commitment to make this movie franchise a reality

Nîn o Chithaeglir lasto beth dhaer; Rimmo nîn Bruinen dan in Ulaer!”. The ‘spell’ that Arwen cries to stop the Ringwraiths from crossing the river. This phrase is from the movies and was not composed by Tolkien. It’s Sindarin! Remaining in Tolkiens spirit! - English : “Waters of the Misty Mountains, hear the word of power; Rush, waters of Bruinen, against the Ringwraiths!” Lady Arwen calls upon the powers of the Misty Mountains and the river Bruinen to rise up as a defense against the evil Ringwraiths. It is a moving reminder of how the Elves once lived in harmony with the lands and waters, able to communicate with spirits of nature. Even now, glimpses remain of their ancient abilities, though fading as the Third Age comes to a close. Thank you for sharing that connection - it is always a delight when lessons in Sindarin reveal deeper insights into the history and cultures of Middle-Earth.

16:23 Yes the LOTR franchise started in the 50s from thick novels but the longest movie franchise of all time in history is GODZILLA followed by James Bond, MCU, Doctor Who, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, LOTR, Harry Potter etc well obviously not in that exact order after Godzilla.

The movies are masterpieces but they do Isildur unintentional injustice, (to show coercive corrosive power of The Ring). In the books, he NEVER succumbs to the ring, he instead spends his time being a fair ruler who practically gave power away to the people INSTEAD of being power hungry.

The Shire is a region of fertile farmland in the Mid Southern part of the sub continent Eriador. It was gifted to the Hobbits by The High Kingdom of Arnor, after the area was depopulated by war and disease, 400 hundred years before it fell. The only condition was that the Hobbits maintained The Great East-West Road that ran through its Northern border and keep it and its bridges in good repair. Hobbits are counted as Men but their lifecycle is different. They mature much more slowly and aren't considered fully adult until the age of 33. Frodo shared a birthday with Bilbo and turned 33 on the day of the party. In fact, he delayed leaving The Shire until Frodo could inherit Bag End and its contents, including the ring, free and clear. The movies don't deal with the timeline because it would have been confusing to the audience. Gandalf who wasn't in Middle Earth during the War of the Ring, 3,000 years previously, spent 17 years learning about the ring and how it came to be in Gollum's possession. Frodo was 50 when he left The Shire, but because of the ring, he still seems like a very young Hobbit, barely out of his tweens. Samwise Gamgee's family have worked for the Baggins family for three generations as gardeners and domestics. Bilbo was very fond of him and even taught him how to read, with The Old Gaffer's ( Sam's father) permission. Sam and Merry ( Frodo's 1st cousin) were in their late 30s when they traveled with Frodo into the wild and Pippin Took ( both Frodo's 2nd and 3rd cousin ) was 29 and still an adolescent.

Saruman never served Sauron nor bent to him at all in the books. The Gandalf locked in the Tower bit is explained ONLY in the Unfinished Tales Book: In [manuscript-C) The Black Riders arrived at the Gate of Isengard while Gandalf was still a prisoner in the tower. In this account, Saruman, in fear & despair, & perceiving the full horror of service to Mordor, resolved suddenly to yield to Gandalf, & to beg for his pardon & help. Temporizing at the Gate, he admitted that he had Gandalf within, & said that he would go & try to discover what he knew; if that were unavailing, he would deliver Gandalf up to them. Then Saruman hastened to the summit of Orthanc - & found Gandalf gone. Away south against the setting moon he saw a great Eagle flying towards Edoras. See, the thing is he was always master of studying the enemy & even being able to think like they do to always know exactly the best ways to handle ever situation and so on, but the thing is he didn't just become the enemy, he at this time in a sense for once actually grew afraid of him, probably Sauron did what Sauron did with Finrod Felagund in the duel of visions, (Galadriel’s elder brother who by the way was the most important in the Legendarium & is the main reason the third age even exists) which basically widdled Saruman with various visions of the past and future until it wore him down, but Saruman(Curumo) was the mostly already becoming weary due to what was called The Long Defeat, magic bleeding out from the lands of middle earth and subsequently certain things become less and less possible and the elves begin to go west. Even the ones who never wished to leave middle earth and many of which were born here by the thousands. So him also being a student and helper of Aulë of the Valar he was going to fight fire with fire and make a bid for the ring just so Sauron could never regain full power and if Saruman found a way to release himself from his power restrictions even by any small margin or worked with Eru in some way it might have worked out in the end if things went differently enough to where such action from him would be needed. Ontop of that he was growing ever jealous of Gandalf for he received the Varya from Círdan and prior to that was chosen by the other Valar, Nienna’s chosen champion to go to middle earth. But Gandalf(Olórin back then) refused over and over and exclaimed his fear of Sauron(Mairon), varya I feel would have kindle the heart of Saruman to stay strong as he had been fighting the evils of the world for a very long time since he had been sent to Middle Earth. And for the is reason Saruman wished to hold the ring at hostage. Keep Sauron from taking back his full strength and basically use it to stave off The Long Defeat. Saruman is very complex. The Hobbit movies actually shows how he was even 60 years ago during Bilbo’s story. He was one of the main forces thwarting Sauron for over 2000 years. The Númenoreans: the high men of the west; gifted Saruman with Orthanc which was of their making. Now known as Isengard. - saruman is actually trying to doublecross sauron. He wants the ring for himself. He thinks he can control it. The little orcs around saruman are from mordor - sauron's orcs sent to help saruman but also to spy on him. The big fighting orcs - the uruk hai - are loyal only to saruman. Orcs are like that. But its why saruman's orders are a bit vague - to avoid sauron's orcs knowing what saruman is doing. The movies dont make this bit of the story very clear. But notice that, while saruman knows where the fellowship is he never lets Sauron Know.

The 3 Elven Rings are not susceptible to “The One Ring” in any direct way.. Called The Long Defeat By The Elves and The Men Of The West. After all of this, The three elven rings were made in secret without Saurons touch upon them thanks to Kelebrimbor! Kelebrimbor perceives the designs of Sauron. But all that has been wrought by those who wield the Three will turn to their undoing, and their minds and hearts will become revealed to Sauron, if he regains the One."

Tolkien, which tells the story of Beren and Lúthien, one of the great love stories of Middle-earth. Other stories were included in it too which helps us glean so much more information on what else was happening in that era in a more satisfying way. The poem was initially written in the 1920s and 1930s, and was later revised and expanded by Tolkien over the years. It was eventually published posthumously in the book "The Lays of Beleriand" as part of "The History of Middle-earth" series in 1985. I apologize for the confusion. "Laws and Customs of the Eldar" was actually first published as a part of "Morgoth's Ring" in the year 1993. However, it was later re-published as a separate book with the same title in 2018, edited by Christopher Tolkien.

The current ages of the characters: Frodo Baggins is 53. Samwise Gamgee is 38. Meriadoc Brandybuck (Merry) is 36. Peregrin Took (Pippin) is 28. Gandalf (Olòrin) - is 15,000 (in his current form. Aragorn is (won’t say, you’ll find out). Legolas is 2,931. Gimli is 139. Boromir son of Denethor II is 41! Elves aged differently than men and dwarves. They did not suffer from old age or disease, and their lives were not limited by a fixed number of years. Instead, they aged very slowly, remaining youthful and vigorous for much longer than mortals. Though they could voluntarily leave their bodies and the ultimate thing that can kill them is grief or Sorrow that’s palpable enough for them to just not wish to live anymore. Here are the ages of some of the main Elves of the Third Age, as of the War of the Ring: 1. Elrond Half-elven - over 8,586 while his daughter is 3,777 old! 2. Galadriel - around 20,000(180.000 in solar human years [1 elf year is one lifetime of man] but time is counted, felt & experienced very differently before the birth of the sun and moon. ❤) 3. Celeborn - 20,000; (he may have been alive before her birth or around the same time as his lineage that he lived amongst his forefathers and kin might suggest he is older but they are both very ancient.) 4. Glorfindel (replaced scenes with Arwen in the movies but it helped prop up Aragorn’s Film character progression. I still think they could have incorporated them both in the scenes somehow and included the other important stuff that went on in that forest meeting Glorfindel and his company of elves)- he’s over 2,000 (although he had been re-embodied after dying in the First Age which means his Fëa {spirit} is far older than 2000.) 5. Thranduil - over 8000, (as he was born in the First Age and lived in Doriath with his father Oropher; Thranduil is also the father of Legolas. (As Haldir mentioned him when speaking to Legolas in Lothlòrien during the first movie’s extended scene. He shares the same kindred elven clan as to Celeborn(Galadriel’s husband). It's worth noting that Elves could choose to die voluntarily, usually when they grew weary of life or when they had fulfilled their purpose in the world. However, their spirits would then depart to the Halls of Mandos and could eventually be re-embodied in a new body I meant to add that Frodo was 51 when he left due to the whole Gandalf coming back to the shire after many years. that explains why his youthful appearance didn’t change much throughout the entire film!

Nice to see your reaction! I've been a books fan since before the films. Fellowship's film is pretty faithful to the book. The biggest change is that the book contains a seventeen year time skip between Bilbo leaving the Shire and Frodo leaving: the film makers left it out because it only makes sense in a longer narrative than they had available. Frodo is therefore about 21 in human years (he was older in the book), Sam similar, Merry about 19 and Pippin about 17. The Two Towers film moves around a couple of events for narrative reasons (one key book TTT scene is in the film of ROTK) and adds a divergent scene for, again, narrative reasons. ROTK film leaves out a couple of plotlines because it's already nearly five hours long and there are limits to most viewers' bladders.

Lhang - name of The great elvish swords you see in the prologue being used in that frontline ebbing flowing strike formation tactic. This shows the skill of these warriors. Some are hundreds to thousands of years old. Their timeless prowess was caught on film perfectly. Awesome right? noun: cutlass, sword Cognates: ᴹQ. lango “broad sword; prow of a ship” ✧ Ety/LAG Derivations ᴹ√LAG “*cut” ✧ Ety/LAG Phonetic Developments Development Stages lhang [laŋgo] > [laŋg] > [l̥aŋg] > [l̥aŋ] ✧ lang (sword), plural> [Laing] lanc: [throat] (hinting at being deadly throat cutters when one knows how to wield these specific elvish blades against heavily armoured orcs with keen precision!) (neck), pl. lainc, coll. pl. langath. Note: homophones mean ”naked” and also ”sharp edge, sudden end, brink. So they are blades that “bring enemies to the sudden brink of death” in a sense.

Tolkien the author of the original books, said that the pipeweed was "nicotiana", but he said this was "probably" the case as he writes his books often like he is chronicling real history. The film definitely leans more towards it being weed, but there's a little room for interpretation either way.

Please forgive them. Most of those people dropping comments don’t mean any harm. When one sees how epic these movies are they’ll soon realize why they’re held so dearly to thousands around the world across multiple generations, many of us had parents read these books to us etc, and how both the books and the trilogy inspired every single videogame, movie and hundreds of books from many other authors over the last century. The original trilogy books (out of the other 25 published after his death that came long before the trilogy books were ever put out there publicly. The books won book of the century award! CENTURY. Meaning nothing has topped this movie trilogy since 25 years ago. This has been said by millions worldwide.

Actually, they DO mean harm, if you're talking about the fanboys who go around to reaction videos and say nasty things to people who don't take the movie as seriously as they believe it should be taken. If people don't go into this movie with "appropriate" reverence, those guys leave all kinds of nasty comments, and they absolutely intend those comments to be mean. You seem like a nice person, so you're probably just giving those others too much credit. My suggestion is to not make excuses for mean people, and when people show you who they are, you should believe them.

The movies are as close as you can get with a Film series. The books are massive and very detailed. And by detailed I'm talking Tolkien dedicated pages (multiple pages) to just describe in detail how a particular tree looked. Some parts were left out and I fully understand why they had no real impact on the story as a whole. A part I always loved that was not in the movies is Tom Bombadil who is arguably the most powerful being in their entire world but HE GIVES NO FUCKS ABOUT ANYTHING. So they hang with him and chill for a while to get a break from the Nazgul chasing them but other than that he does not help them. So they just took that part out because well honestly it does not advance the story in any way. There are many cases of stuff that was removed to save time and because it didn't have a huge impact on the story. A few things were also combined into one character instead of there being so many characters that people like you (non book reader) wouldn't be overwhelmed there are a astronomical FUCK TON of characters in these books. I've read them multiple times over my whole life and even today I still get a little fucked up when it comes to all the characters in the novels. So as for your question how close are the movies to the books I would word it like this "They are as close as anyone will ever get to the novel and it is simply work of genius to be able to manage that undertaking." as you said your an Army man, I myself served in the Navy. So imagine if you will that you as an Army man were tasked with, you need to condense WW1 and WW2 into 3 movies and not miss any important parts of the wars in those movies......and then you fucking did it and won Oscars for it. That's what Peter Jackson did, who was when they made these movies considered a relative unknown director (he had done stuff but nothing even 1% close to the size of this story) I should point out also Tolkien was a WW1 veteran saw some shit, and that played a big part in his writings about battles and the chaos of war. for the longest time Lord of the Rings was considered impossible to Film because it was too massive and too complex. But Peter Jackson proved them all wrong.

I read through some of the comments, and I don't know why Tolkien fanboys are the way that they are. Well, actually I do. . . it's because they've attached their ego and sense of identity to a work of a fiction, so they take it as a personal attack if someone doesn't take it as seriously as they do. I don't know WHY they do that, though. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the reaction, and am looking forward to watching the rest of the series :) Cheers!
