Laura and Grant Couple helpful tips Hydraulic cylinders sometimes are cheaper to replace then rebuild out of Bailey’s Hydraulics. Also when your trying to heat up medal a rose tip on the torch works better and gives you a lot more heat. Hope this helps for your next project.

Yeah as a welder rose buds are your best friend for heating up metal before welding in cold weather, she did great welding . As for cylinders any machine shop should be able to help you rebuild them. They are cheaper then buying, depending on the kind you looking at. I don't know on farming equipment though, on dozers and stuff rebuilding is mainly cheaper to rebuild.

Those welds you were making looked really good for a beginner. One bit of cautions though, sometimes welds can look great but not be very strong. I suggest making some welds on scrap and then seeing how difficult it is to break what you welded and see if you had good penetration and fill or if it is a cold weld that is easily broken. Try welding on different thickness of metal as well so you get a good feel on how to set up your welder for different applications. But for a first time,.... absolutely fantastic.

Hi Laura and Grant. My name is Dennis Barnett. I reside in Filer, Idaho. I moved to Idaho 19 yrs ago from washington state. I am one of your many subscribers who helped you make it to 500,000. I have been watching alot of your youtube videos. I also watch a little instagram videos. to tell you the truth , I at this point feel real stupid. I watched several of your instagram videos under the name of Norman . To my amazement after watching several videos I was able to realize it was the same person or lady from Laura Farms on tiktok. It took me several instagram videos to finally figure out. And the videos on tiktok were not the Laura I was used to watching. I will still continue to watch you and grants journey forward. I wish you both alot of luck.

When you need to heat a large area to bend it you should use a rosebud tip. It has a much larger flame area and will heat a large area faster. Also, heat the side that will be stretched. On the plow that would be outside, the area you were trying to heat.

You must use safety glasses at all times when working with a torch or welding. Hot slag or rust could get in your eyes and blind you or injure your eyes. Also, a welding cap would keep the sparks from getting in your hair and burning your scalp. Advice from a certified Pipe Welder. Great vids and your welding is really good. 👍

Hey Laura. Interesting video. One suggestion. IMHO - you are going to need either another square stock welded lower right by where the axels are located or at least some bracing from the axel point to the new square stock you installed. I don't think the flat stock the axels are attached to on its own will hold the weight when bouncing in the fields and will eventually bend. Just my 2 cents. 😊 Keep up the great videos!!!

I mentioned to you at the Farm Progress Show that I am surprised that there are a lot that people, even in an intense, corn & soybean, growing part of the Midwest like where you are as well as myself in northeast Missouri, that don't know what and how us farmers do the things we do all through the year. You and Grant are really getting to the top of your game in showing the details of our business along with the field operations. I am, and since the beginning in April 2020, a very enthusiastic subscriber. Lots of snow, wind and cold here too; and I've seen several You Tube videos of problems from the snow near York this weekend on I80 as well as the huge drifts on either side of Aurora on US34. About ten years ago I was holed-up/stuck at Iams with my semi-truck in a blizzard; and I've also waited out snow at Love's south of town.
