The day has finally come, after many years of avoiding I have no dipped into the Cartoon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line from ‪@neca‬ It's not my first time getting figures from their toon collection as the Ninja Turtle Power Hour did influence me to get the Splinter and Baxterfly two pack (I had to have the sword of yurikawa) but I didn't dip further than that. The Pizza Club Ultimate versions of the 4 teenage ninja turtle brothers was my perfect jumping on point.
I don't honestly have a ton of nostalgia with these versions of the turtles, I watched the cartoon on repeat as a kid but in terms of toys it was always the Playmates TMNT toys that did it for me so I don't have that crazy nostalgia when unboxing the figures, but I do love and appreciate them. NECA is amazing at recreating a specific show or movie, their attention to detail and visual acuity is the best in the business. So what do I think of this Donatello cartoon pizza club turtle? He is amazing, the reason I had to get him was the bo staff. That spinning effect, all turtles should have a spinning accessory for their gear, its a no brainer, must have, easy sell. I do find this style of NECA body to be kind of stiff and a fair bit outdated especially compared to their amazing Last Ronin action figure line based on the hit ‪@IDWPublishing‬ but generally the figure looks amazing, comes with amazing accessories and is a stellar value.
The packaging alone is worth the price of a ticket, recreating amazing VHS Cassette tape boxes from our childhood. They look absolutely beautiful, definitely keeping these boxes forever.
I know my friend ‪@YimboReviewsEverything‬ also wants this figure for that sweet spinning effect and he will be pleased to know I didn't need any heat! Team no heat for life!! I also have Leonardo and Michelangelo to open next and will be hunting Target for a minty Raph to complete the set, cause why not? Why, not?
