@@Centane Yes you are the first! This is a relatively little known movie. It's sparse subgenre among the spaghetti western subgenre, which is part of the western genre. It's hard to get it in full, since it's a journey you should take starting from the orginal American westerns of the '60s, John Wayne's era. When people could spend days on the trail and wake up in the morning after sleeping in a bedroll with a perfect shave and a just ironed clean shirt. Then spagetti westerns came, with everywhing being dirty and dusty. This let to some very violent b-movies, together with masterpieces like "Once Upon in the West" by Leone. Tarantino paid several homages to them. Then they evolved turning towards comedy or parody (kinda overdoing it) without really fully enbracing a full comedic tone (they had the full look and feel of a proper western, just more lighthearted. Terence Hill made a name for himself together with Bud Spencer in the Trinity movies, which are probably the best examples, and are - to the day - immensely popular in Italy. You wouldn't believe. The end credit song in Tarantino's "Django" is actually the theme from Trinity. (Django being the titular character's name in another series of spagetti western) This movie is an odd one, since here comedy borders into slapstick at times. The undefined tone of the movie can put off many people. I like it but it's like a guilty pleasure to me. I'd rather watch Trinity for the 100th time, tho. I loved your reaction BTW! It must be even weirder to you as a movie if this is your first western.

"This song that we are hearing in the background" - composer Ennio Morricone liked to have some fun citing classical music and incorporated it into his scores, especially when it fit the theme. What you are probably referring to is "Ride of the Valkyries" by 19th century German composer Richard Wagner. It's from his opera "The Valkyrie". Another famous instant when that music was used (in its original form) was in Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse Now", during the helicopter attack sequence. This film is basically a commedia dell'arte comedy, set in the Wild West. Nobody is a true arlecchino.

We were never really allowed to watch movies as kids, but whenever we visited our aunt and uncle, the parents would party and drink upstairs and us kids were allowed to watch any movie on VHS and they had them all. Saw all the bond movies up until that time ( mid 80's) and basically any Hollywood movie from 1940 to then. Of course also all the Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill movies, but this one was always my favorite. Uncle loved it too and often came down to watch it with us when he heard that epic Soundtrack. He passed away December 2023, And when i hear Morricone's music it just reminds me of him and how much he loved the spaghetti western movies. I hope he is partying with Bud Spencer up in heaven right now, miss you Peter :(

I discovered this one when I was 13, actually going to the movies to see a western and fell in love with the character. Saw this repeatedly at the same movie theater that summer as a matter of fact, almost always taking someone new with me to watch. A gunslinger with a sense of humor was a wild concept to me back then. Let's just say it made an impact on a thirteen year old. Later I was informed about the Trinity films by my older cousins who already knew the character. The character of Nobody played by Terence Hill is really the character of Trinity (probably) without the copyright issues pertained to the character's name. To me it makes the choice of naming him Nobody even funnier. But that's neither here or there... Glad you enjoyed it. This film holds a special place in my heart. Thank you for exposing it to a new generation.

This movie is hilarious, but it also has cool gunfighter action and is unexpectedly touching and surprisingly wise with its reflection on changing times and the end of an era, its take on the meaning of heroes and legends, and its parable of the little bird, so it's one of my all time favorites. When my local TV station would show this, they it with minimum edits and minimum commercial breaks, and because home video wasn't a thing for most of us commoners back then, I would drop whatever I was doing to watch it.

The bathroom scene is this. He needed to keep the train conductor away long enough to steal the train. Most men just can't piss with someone looking at them. So he kept looking at him to keep him in the bathroom long enough to for the guards to think his time was long enough so when the train was leaving, they thought nothing of it. However, it was during this the conductor was finally able to piss, keeping him in the bathroom long enough to pull away with the train. Hope this helps.

This is one of the best western movies ever made.... great you watched it. On the first look, it just seems like a comedy movie, because it has some funny elements. But it works on so many different layers, even in philosophical ways. Sergio Leone was one of the best western directors of all time, he was co-director of this movie. And Ennio Morricone was one of the best composers for movie music in general and created this fantastic score. All this in combination makes a perfect movie!

This movie was about the end of an era. The western era about cowboys, famous in movies since the 1960's. So famous, there were even theme parks about them. But like everything, a lot of things changed in the beginning of 1900's. Near the end of the movie, it is shown it was 1899. Jack was a famous/infamous character. Wanted poster and all. "Nobody" was a fan of him. Just like many children were fans of Cowboys during the 1960's. During this movie, it is shown that Jack is old, and wants to retire far away in Europe. He is tired of being persecuted and finds his "achievements" not something to be happy about. So you can also see that, everytime he and Nobody talked about it, it was a dialogue between the experienced gunfighter that survived and the fans of that lifestyle. Nobody adores it; but Jack says its not worth it(like a Vietnam veteran). There is also a word play running in most of the movie with the word "Nobody". Just like when someone asked "Who defeated Jack in a duel?" The answer that came was "Nobody". So even if Jack lost, that way he preserved his undefeated title, since Nobody defeated him. Get it? They arranged the duel so that Jack is officially dead; but the actual person can start a new life. The letter Jack read to Nobody at the end of the movie might seem like a monologue; but it is actually a message for fans of that lifestyle. This movie cameout in 1974, when there was "cowboy movie fatigue" just like there are "Superheroes movie fatigue" nowadays.

Back in the day there were a bunch of these "Trinity" movies after Italian directors hit on this winning formula. Trinity (Terrance Hill) and Bambino (Bud Spenser) are like western superheroes, with Trinity having superhuman draw speed/accuracy and Bambino having superhuman strength. Ultimately, they tend to profit off of killing bad guys while occasionally helping out average folks. In D&D terms, I think they'd be classified as chaotic good or chaotic neutral.

Criminally underrated movie in my eyes..... "What have I been watching??" Your reaction shows that this type of movie with a mix of melancholy, deep meaning and goofy humour just doesnt exist anymore. This genre just died out. What we have today are movies that are either overly serious and grimm or just ridiculous, overpaced and dull. But nothing in between. I feel like film makers nowadays dont want to risk this mix of different colours anymore. I think movies like Parasite once in a while prove me wrong but yeah I will always love those old spaghetti westerns :)

I remember seeing this movie at the theatre. Henry Fonda made another western/comedy with Jimmy Stewart called "The Cheyenne Social Club" (1970). As for great westerns I'd recommend "Unforgiven" (1992) and/or "Tombstone" (1993).

My favourite movie growing up - until I saw Henry Fonda in the classic Once Upon a Time in the West. So few people seem to know about this movie. Thanks for reacting to it.

The man who played nobody was meet by a woman who thanked him. Because all of his movie he never killed anyone in them and I think this is the only movie he was in that someone dies in. And mostly people just get knocked out or something. I guess he played a loving lite hearted outlaw like in My Name is trinity.

This is a comedic Western, not really representing the genre. but I'm very happy you reacted to it. I watched this movie countless times in my youth. Nobody was a childhood hero of mine^^

One of the most underrated spaghetti western parodies out there. The casting of Henry Fonda with the reuse of some of the epic music of Once upon a time in the West. The grave of Sam Peckinpah, the existence of the Wild Bunch, a movie written and directed by that very same person. It's just one big gag and I love it.

Re: the toilet scene. When I was a kid, I believed that the train engineer couldn't pee, because "Nobody" stood beside _(or rather: in front)_ of him _(a phenomenon, many boys/men know from personal experience)._ But my father and uncle said, the engineer had prostate problems _(an increased prostate leads to trouble with urinating)._ To this day, I'm not sure which is true - though I guess, both explanations are conceivable.

First time I see a reaction for this movie that I saw in theatre in 1974. Not the best western movie but a fun one. I was blast away by the Ennio Morricone music. I remember thinking that Sergio Leone directed this movie but it's not him even if he was part of the project. A great western from Sergio Leone is Once upon a time in the West (1968)... (with Henri Fonda, Charles Bronson, and Claudia Cardinale) a masterpiece with one of the most iconic scene. Most people prefer the Leone movies starring Clint Eastwood, but this one is a must see also.

Thank you for reviewing They Call Me Nobody. This film is a good laugh. The Public Urinal scene is legendary. But for the best laugh you need to view They Call Me Trinity and They Still Call Me Trinity with Terence Hill and Bud Spencer. Without a doubt the finest comedy westerns ever made. You will crack up! I always do at those two. They are the best.

Oh, man, first time I saw a Terence Hill film, was at a drive-in that my aunt took me to, to see "Earthquake", and the second film was "They Call Me Trinity", and from that point on, I watched every Terence Hill film I could find! Haven't seen this in years, but I remembered the scene where Henry Fonda threw out Sam Peckinpah's nane, lol! Yes, you need to see more Terence Hill films - even the non-westerns!

@12:33 _Can someone tell me what the thing on the heel of the shoe is?_ They are called *spurs.* A spur is a metal tool designed to be worn in pairs on the heels of riding boots to *refine the riding aids (commands)* backing up the "natural" aids like the rider's legs, seat, hands, & voice. Spurs are mostly used to direct a horse to move forward or laterally while riding.

As a kid I viewed this movie before I got to see The Good The Bad and the Ugly which was also directed by Sergio Leone and musical scored by Ennio Maricone. It’s an underrated gem of a western and it put a smile on my face to finally see a KZfaq movie review of this western classic. The main actor Terrence Hill and Sergio made several other westerns that are also must see spaghetti westerns and they all carry themes of morality and life lessons. They are called the Trinity movies of which there were 3, much like Clint Eastwoods trinity but his were actually titled trinity after the main protagonists name. It’s also crazy that Terrence Hill was married to his wife since 1951 to the present which is amazing. Love all his movies and his respect for the sanctity of marriage

The other two Trinity movies are also a lot of fun. They play off the Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns. The legendary Henry Fonda played Beauregard. About the only time he ever played a bad guy was in "Once upon a Time in the West" and he does it so well That is probably the best western ever made. It is a must watch. The western is a form, like a sonnet or haiku. Within the strict limits of the form, you can write a romance, revenge, coming-of-age, a buddy movie, a comedy, destiny. Any theme you can think of can be told as a western.

Now my delight when I saw that you are watching "My Name is Nobody" I have enjoyed Terrance Hill and Bud Spencer films since the 80s I guess. There are a few references to Hill and Spencer films in this, but you have to have seen them to know. I do recommend the Trinity films, and I read a long time ago that Sergio Leone cared very little for the Trinity films and made this film in response, "I could do better kind of thing", no idea if true. but it's a good story. Terrance Hill could play great quirky characters. For other Leone films, I would recommend Once Upon a Time in the West, though it is slower in pacing and sombre. There is another quirky western film with Terrance Hill I found very amusing though A Genius, Two Partners and a Dupe, more or less playing the same character. instead of Nobody, it's Joe Thanks. I enjoyed your reaction, Subscribed

The thing on the heel of his shoes is called a spur. It's a device to goad a horse into moving by jabbing into its side. It can cause infection, which is why they are no longer used.
