I have two friends who each have a V-10 Excursion; both are original owners..... One has about 150K miles, the other is about the same as your service truck 380-ish iirc. Both friends get badgered constantly by peeps wanting to buy their Excursions. But since neither friend has sold them yet, I don't think either will EVER sell.

Starting to see alot of gas stations with ethanol free gas well worth the extra money for small engines or stuff that don't get ran often.

Hey Steven, I hope you land some steady work with an outfit that respects you and offers good, steady work. Had a friend with a V10 powered camper and he loved its reliability and smooth power but understandably didn’t like how it guzzled fuel. If I was anywhere near your shop I’d definitely help out - Ontario, Canada is a long way lol - praying for you brother. Cheers

I got a V10 work truck, and aside from the typical Modular sparkplug issue, it's been a very dependable machine. I'm thinking about retiring it into a toy hauler, BUUUUUUT the gas mileage kinda sucks.

those old triton motors are beast mode but I'm a sucker for diesels. I went with the international dt466 all mechanical for reliability. I played the single rear wheel game for a bit but couldn't keep tires on it.

In fairness, the Walmart batteries were made by Johnson Controls, but I think the issue was they were made with recycled lead. No idea. I have a love hate relationship with the Ford Mod family. Unfortunately mine have left me stranded. Hope you find stable work! It is harvesting season, unless every farmer in the greater DFW area is using nothing but John Deere.

recycled lead is not a problem, almost all batteries are made with recycled lead

You thought the V10 would do it in? Nah man, 2V mod motors are crazy reliable. There's just the spark plug thing which really isn't even that big of a deal anymore and exhaust manifold leaks. When it comes to Ford trucks/vans of this vintage it seems like the drivetrain usually outlasts the frame and body, at least up north where we have winter.

Parasitic draw on old trucks and equipment around here are usually fixed by disconnecting the battery.

Better check dipstick where it intersects the engine, they develop hairline cracks and causes it to leak pretty big

Hopefully you can be your own business again in the green machine. Shame you need to more out of the shop. Hopefully you can save a little on the rent vs storage. It will be good to see you doing you own work and videos again . While it may feel like a step backwards I think with your talents you will go forward to bigger things. Best of luck

I own a 2001 GMC 3500 4 door,, 4 X 4, 6 speed manual, Dually, with 8 foot bed and as you love your Ford I love my Beast GMC. WHEN I tow my 20 foot Bass Boat for some reason I get 23 mpg but just running around 17 mpg.
