The biggest issue with the Ariya has always been the price. It's not good next to the competition at $50k-$60k, but at $250 a month, it's not competing with those cars anymore, and suddenly it's awesome.

@@ChickensAndGardening But that's why people lease instead of own. I paid $65k cash for my car, but if I took a loan, I'd be paying $1300 per month for 5 years. $250 a month for 5 years with no down payment is only $15,000. That's a great deal to drive a modern EV.

@@ChickensAndGardening The Ariya lease is 18 months. $250 a month equals to $4500. Find me a better deal where I pay full price for a new car and have a depreciation of $4500 for the first 18 months. Remember a car is a depreciating asset. You normally do not make money out of it, so owning a car at the end of the lease should only compare to the residual value of the car.

She seems really confused about what regenerative breaking is, believing it's the same as "one-pedal-drive". Most EVs have both "D-mode" and "B-mode" except Teslas which only have "B-mode". I assume the Aria just defaults to "D-mode" or whatever Nissan calls it.

The driver profiles are very robust. They let you set all sorts of stuff. One other thing they seemed to miss is battery preconditioning. It can precondition for charging, it just has a cryptic menu to find it with cooling and heating in different places and it must be manually engaged each time. There is no route-based battery preconditioning.

@@virtual-viking Yeah same with other cars, Like the Volt has the shifter go to Drive for no one pedal driving and Low for one pedal. The braking is still regenerative in any drive mode and only engages the friction brakes when the battery is topped off or at the bottom of pedal travel when regenerating for panic stops. My friend got freaked out when I was driving around in Low the whole time for the one pedal driving since he wasn't used to EVs. GM really dropped the ball when they didn't develop the Voltec system, Toyota is cleaning up right now leveraging their limited batteries through their whole range of vehicles in stead of just a few full BEVs.

All Ariyas equipped with ProPilot 2.0 (changes from green to blue icons which signify hands free driving) have two fins on the top of the car. One fin means the Ariya has just lane keeping/distance keeping (green) which requires hands on the wheel. ProPilot 2.0 activates on its own when it travels on highways that have been pre-mapped. Using ProPilot 2.0 at night changes the ambient light along the dashboard from green to blue, which is really lovely.

Nicely done, that's a great deal she landed! That's a helluva lot of standard features for a "base" trim. 280 miles of EPA range is fine. If Lacey can get her daily charging done at her bf's garage or around town, she's golden.

Ironically I saw my first ever Ariya yesterday, I was driving past the local Chevy dealer and they had SEVERAL ELECTRIC CARS IN STOCK FOR SALE!!!!!! First time ever I have seen an EV on a lot in Ohio that was not already sold! OF course they were Blazer EVs, so they were VASTLY overpriced (unlike Bolts which were so inexpensive they flew off the lot like they were repelled by gravity instead of attracted) so they will probably hang around a while with interest rates high again. While I was looking at them (man these Blazers are FAT. And a big dumb clunky annoying console clogging up the middle of the car. And ugly dashboard like a Camaro) someone drove in with an Ariya. There was also a Hummer EV (the dealers personal car). And of course my Bolt (which seems to have way better headroom and legroom than the Blazer too). It was EV day at the Chevy dealer!

A bit of misinformation in the beginning. The Ariya DOES have regenerative braking. What it doesn't have is ePedal, it has eStep. The only difference between the two is that with ePedal, the car utilizes the braking system until it comes to a complete stop, and with eStep, it only uses the braking system down to about 6-8 mph, then the driver must apply the brakes manually to stop the car. The regenerative braking is the same on both. In other words, regen in any EV won't stop the car completely, it's the brakes that stop the car. At slow speeds, regen diminishes in any EV obviously because the wheels aren't turning enough to generate any power. All this said, I do with Nissan had given the Ariya ePedal. A huge mistake in my opinion. I've had my Ariya for a year now and absolutely love it!!

When I was looking around for a 4 door hatch EV to replace my 3 year old Mini Cooper S E I test drove the Ariya, the Fisker Ocean, Subaru Solterra, BMW iX1 M20 and Mach E. I really really liked the Ocean but Fisker’s financial woes put me off going with it. Here in the UK there are some really good lease deals on Ariya, Solterra (and BZ4X). I ended up with none of them and took delivery direct off the dealers forecourt of what was supposed to be their demonstrator new U25 Mini Countryman S E Sport L3 Electric. Been driving it for 3 weeks now and loving it. Loved my Cooper S E but this is another level with the great Mini handling but 5 usable seats , a huge boot/trunk, slightly less firm suspension but not boat style, than the Cooper and a 64.9kWh useable battery with claimed 260 miles range. I would have gone down the Ariya route too had the Mini dealership and BMW UK not offered me a great deal on my Cooper S E Level 3 (which was sold to s new owner 3 hours after I left the dealer the car and keys!). With so much range and battery capacity I can now leave my 2023 Defender 90 D250 at home and do decent length road trips in an EV.

Thank you Kyle for being the example of an extraordinary friend, scholar AND gentlemen! The humility to admit the Ariya was better than expected and showing Lacey what she didn't know about its capabilities. (I do hope she didn't turn down you blessing her with 3k. HUGE points for your integrity, that's a rare quality ESPECIALLY when money is involved.)

4 EVs have above average reliability and is recommended according to Consumer Reports. Nissan Ariya is one of them. The others are Porsche Taycan, Hyundai Ioniq 6 and Lexus RZ. No EVs have EXCELLENT reliability. 2 of these are IIHS Top Safety Picks (Ariya and RZ). I might be interested in an affordable hatchback EV that has excellent reliability and is an IIHS Top Safety pick so far this isn’t one.

My girlfriend bought a 23’ ariya engage in August of 22’ which has the smaller battery. She only paid 44 k. It’s a damn nice vehicle and she loves it. She had a 19’ kicks. Hi, Im am here in Belgium and have been driving an ARIYA for about fifteen months. My version of the ARIYA has a button on the left under the steering wheel that allows the driver to set "e-pedal" (a soft one-pedal drive). Once its set "on", the car remembers the setting so you dont need to switch it back on with the buttons on the centre console. Ive had one giant let-down. Last year the traction battery died. It took NISSAN three months to get a spare part out to Belgium! The garage was great they provided free loaner, NISSAN was just terrible.

The main thing about the Ariya is that it has a lot of standard features. However, Nissan is the most expensive manufacturer here in England!! The Ariya costs just under £50,000 for the basic car. Any extras cost much more.

So, with all the incentives Colorado has, and your Kia dealership sponsor who will ship to anywhere in the lower 48, can an out of state resident get most of them? Or would it basically be just the $7500? Could we get the old and high emitting trade-in ones, etc?

It probably doesn’t have lane centering. It looks like similar software to the Leaf. If the steering wheel icon is grey, then it’s lane departure assist. If it’s green, then it’s ProPilot so will steer within the Lane.

"She was right" -- that's my frustration with this channel these days as I feel like Kyle's review points aren't relevant to me as a driver. Personally I don't drive like a maniac and don't care how a car performs on the track. And I care about safety features Kyle almost never mentions like crash testing, blindspot detection and 360 camera. I also completely disagree with Kyle that ProPilot isn't good (frankly it's one of the best things about Ariya). Three big issues I had with the Ariya I'm pretty sure Kyle didn't even mention at all: it's very cramped inside, the seats are horribly uncomfortable and the rear "mirror" is a camera instead. Overall I feel Kyle is passionate about whether or not a product is "pushing the limits" of what is possible with this technology. Meanwhile I am concerned about practical features that are either going or not going to meet my needs. Kyle also constantly craps on Carplay which I use all the time and have zero issues with.

I've been driving a 2023 bz4x LXE AWD for nine months now and it's a wonderful car even with the slower charging. (I charge at home). I liked the interior and trim quality better than the Nissan. Which goes to show that technical aspects don't always outweigh more subjective qualities. Kyle's reviews are thorough and I watched his review of the bz4x before buying mine. But after actually driving these cars myself I still went with the underdog. Also I paid thousands less for my bz while still getting the sun roof, rubber floor mats and lane centering/driver assist. If I actually needed slightly longer range and faster charging and had the extra cash I might have gone with the Ariya. At the very minimum the Bz4x is a very good city driving car at a good price.

That is so cool, we bought our 2020 Kia Soul EV limited, with not only the Canadian Federal Gov. EV rebate of $5,000, but also our $3,000 BC provincial rebate and to top it off BC's, Scrap it program $6,000 rebate similar to CO's . Totally awesome look forward to the range test. We still have the Kia, going strong with 100K KM, great run about, but also no 1 pedal driving but Kia paddle controls of regen works well! We did put about 60K KMs on long distance road trips, charging was not an issue as it did well enough to allow for eating & bathroom breaks.
