Way better car to drive, seating comfort and well equipped compare to Tesla Y & Id4, ionic5 , ev6. I have tested all of them and defiantly going for Ariya (I am sure will find a good deal in price).

I’m driving one now as a loaner. I Love it. If you drive in eco mode, it goes 340 miles. 2 wheel dive bigger battery version. If you drive it hard, it’s still not bad for range. 310.

No it does not at highway speeds. Reputable reviewers have range tested the Ariya, and its range at 70 mph is just ~240 miles vs the 290 miles of the less expensive Model Y LR under almost identical conditions. Yes it's a nice car, but be honest. It's expensive, kind of small, and has below average efficiency and range.

Ive had my Ariya since beginning of March 2923. IN the UK the EPA range is quoted as 329 miles - 87KWH usable battery, 2 wheel drive, 19 inch wheels. for the past 4 months the actual range has always exceeded this figure. This has also been found with many others the UK Ariya page. I drive in Standard mode with e-step turned on. Now done over 4000 miles and very happy with my purchase.

Recently someone told me: listen to people with experience rather then to people with an opinion. We have our Nissan Ariay Evolve (87kwh) - frontwheel drive - since beginning of April 2023, and our consumption is to date 15,7kwh/100km which gives us a range of +- 554km, which is even more then announced in the ad's: 530km wltp. This is our first EV and we're very happy with it. We drove Volkwagens and Audi before, and they were the first brands we considered when going electric. At that time I rarely saw positive comments from VW ID4 or ID3 drivers, also VW did not offer the same standard options as Nissan (for instance, heat pump was - is it still? - a 1500€ option in ID3 and ID4). With all the options to match an Ariya Evolve, the ID4 was much more expensive. As for the Τesla Model Y, also much more expensive at the time, and btw I don't need a car to drag race with a Porsche at the traffic lights, I can perfectly live with a "from 0 to 100km in 7sec". g.

Model Y is the largest selling car in the world. Nissan can't sell any of these. Sales have been a catastrophe that threatens the very existence of the company, going forward. Nissan is guilty, along with the other Japanese companies, of ignoring the development of EVs, and in particular, batteries.

If your consumption is below wltp you are clearly travelling pretty slow with a Lot of country Road. Thats Not the typical Environment for a car with a large battery Like this. It is even much more expensive in comparision to model y. Ariya Starts as 87 kWh in Germany at 60k and an model y lr 55k.

As you said, the Ariya has a weight problem. The lowest trim level weighs in at 4300+, the highest trim level is 5,000+ This = lower mpge (20% less efficient than a Model Y).

I had a reservation in early 2020 already but Nissan instead of keeping potential company customers informed they only sent once a more esoteric video. Than the Kia EV6 and the Ioniq 5 came in sight. Since May 2022 I am a very happy owner. The complete mix of technology, drivetrain, battery, design, usability and outstanding performance tops all in the same price class. By the way with the also perfect recuperation I lately made a trip over the Swiss alps to Italy and without charging back home and a total range of 585 km on normal Swiss highway and alpine roads up to nearly 2‘000 meters altitude. With the Ariya and even the biggest battery, AWD and similar performance I never could do this. For 238 km I had 2 h 25 min with just normal heavy traffic and I don’t drive behind trucks to save energy. The cabin is always at 21°C and it was between 23 to 32°C outside. With 240 kWh also HPC charging for the 800 Volts System would be no problem. Fact is that even Mercedes is now copying certain elements used by Hyundai-Kia-Genesis group to stay competitive and get back credibility for asking double to three times as much for a less performant car in any aspect that is essential. So poor Nissan and Renault just are too late and too expensive. Same for VAG group with Volkswagen ID, Seat and Audi and were funny enough only Skoda offers a good pack but still far from Tesla, Koreans or BYD.

As long as prices and vehicle size are similar, I think Tesla will continue to have an advantage because of their superior FSD software and charging network.

FSD doesn't count for anything. That is just garbage. If you want fsd go take a train or a bus. Tesla has the superior EV tech. More power, more efficient vehicle. Is the leader of EV. NIssan on the other hand is garbage in the EV tech tree. From the start nissan had problem with EV tech with the leaf I and leaf II, and now this thing. Anything non tesla should be sold at least 15-20% lower price than tesla for similar size and performance. If they are smaller, even cheaper.

FSD barely sells ~10%. That's not it. The vehicles themselves are really good, and that's the reason they're selling well.

@@TecnamTwin Tesla for some reason are seen as cool. I don't get it, they are really plain and the designs are aged now. Ariya is a much nicer looking SUV than an X or Y in my opinion. But that is subjective. The real reason I believe is that you can be more confident there will be a Tesla supercharger nearby should you find yourself low on battery and far from home. Once those become available to non Tesla EV's you will see more non Tesla EV's on the road.

@@papasquat355EVs aren’t expensive compared to new ICE cars, a Volvo xc60 is $100,00 + its the same class as a model Y for 70k . A Volkswagen Tiguan R line ICE car is 68k . 2k difference in price . Maybe do some research .

In US it does not sell because of a price tag, spot on! Driving it for last 3 months, average consumption in D mode is 4 miles per kWh and in B mode 4.5, so for 63 kWh battery I have 252 or 283 miles range. Mix of motorway (65-75 mph) and city drive. As it is company car I charge it to 100% and discharge to 0 or even below. Good car overall but bumpy ride on rough roads. You have to adapt for EV driving to get a good range. If you floor it all the time you will get 200 miles range.

I drive 87kwh Ariya evolve FWD, on a long run at 21Deg C I get 329 miles, made up of: Outward journey 138.3 miles, Return leg 145.4 miles, with 46 miles 14% charge left at the end. that totals 329.7 miles . Done that run 3 times recently with similar results each time.

@@TecnamTwin I regularly get 3.1 miles per kWh in my 87 kWh Ariya Evolve+ FWD on road trips including a lot of 70-80 mph driving. My guess is the "trusted reviewers" didn't use eStep and didn't spend much time getting familiar with using the pedal efficiently.

The reason it's not selling in US, as mentioned, is that it does not qualify for $7,500 tax rebate. And Nissan is not giving a $7,500 reduction to capitalized cost if you lease, as Hyundai and others are. Sam, in another video, you compared advertised range to actual range of a number of EV's you said the Ariya beat most other cars even the Tesla model Y. So it's not the range. The model with the 304 miles of range is good for $47k but why buy that when you can get a Tesla model y for $40k after rebate. I own a 2019 Leaf SV and Tesla M3 RWD. The Leaf is a very reliable car. I have 63k miles and with its air cooled battery I still get 130-140 miles of range. Two tires is the only expense so far. EPA range when new was 149 miles. I use it for local trips and trips into the city. For someone wanting to enter the EV world without having to spend $30 to $50k, a used Leaf 40kwh battery SV model with low miles and with the $4000 used federal tax credit can be got for $12k to $16k. Great car for 99% of driving or as a second car. Of course you are not going to take it on a 2000 mile road trip.

Yea, it comes down to not qualifying for the tax rebate. One problem with leases is that buyers of Japanese cars aren't accustomed to leasing. Leasing is very common with German cars but those sell to people who are in upper income brackets and they also like to trade in every few years.

Even with rebate money, the price is in parity with a Model Y base model and why would you buy an Ariya over a model Y with the advantage of the supercharger network. So it probably it is not selling well in Canada.@@Snerdles

Nah. It has nothing to do with the tax credit. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is selling quite well in the US and it also doesn't get the credit. It's just an old technology car. Charging speed is SO slow. It's too expensive and heavy for what it is.

@@mitsu.hadeishi The max charging speed is 130 kW, which makes it sound slow to charge, but it charges with a pretty flat curve, down to about 80 kW at 80%, which means the 87 kW battery can recharge from 10 to 80% in around 30 minutes, which is not really slow.

Nissan should have continued to upgrade the Leaf giving it a liquid cooled battery with longer range to compete in the European market where small cars are preferred. In the US unless you can build a car to compete with Tesla's model 3 you are never going to succeed unless it is considerably cheaper. or has some other advantages. Nissan' big mistake was getting rid of Carlos Ghosn -the company just continued to go down hill after his departure

Tbh, without Ghosn, Nissan wouldn't have had any history with BEVs. To be clear, they probably wouldn't have existed after about 2001. He saved them and now they're dying.

Nissan didn't get rid of Ghosn, he stepped down from his position as CEO, was later arrested for misuse of Nissan company funds and then dismissed as Chairman of Nissan. Renault also found questionable use of millions in funds by Ghosn. While out on bail, he escaped Japan hiding in a musical instrument box loaded onto a private plane to Lebanon.

I have leased three Leafs and bought out the lease on the 2019 which I am still driving. People don't realize they came out in 2010-2011while the model 3 came out in 2017. The Leaf evolved into bullitproof cars. Extremely reliable. I could not afford a Tesla in 2012 when I leased the first one. A leaf with a thermally managed battery, a NACS charging port and a charging speed of say 150 kwh would be an awesome EV. But alas, these changes must be so difficult for Nissan to pull off. Therefore we have to wait for the Tesla model 2. The EV the Nissan Leaf should have become.

Where I live the car market is small, but the Ariya it outsell outsell all Tesla's 10 to 1. The reason is that range different is no a big issue for people and it looks far better than any Tesla inside and outside. And Cheaper than model Y. Lol

My" $20K too much" quip was for the fully loaded version, and I'm of the opinion that cars in general have gotten WAY too expensive and all of these below should be $5-10,000 less to make them actually affordable. 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 - $42,985, 220 miles, 350 kW 2024 Kia EV6 - $42,600 232 miles, 350 kW 2024 Tesla Model Y - $43,990, 260 miles, 170 kW 2024 Mustang Mach E - $42,990, 250 miles, 110kW

@@joecoolioness6399 Yeah, the real competition on par are the Ioniq 5/6, ID.4, and EV6, which are essentially the same price (unless you get a tax refund on the ID.4), but the Ariya's interior quality/comfort is notably better than the Ioniq and EV6.

I went from a KIA eNiro to a Tesla Model Y to the Ariya (I've of course has had gas and diesel cars in the past too) - The Ariya is the most comfortable car I've had for a good while, if not ever - it's really nice, quiet and comfortable for long rides, love it! I have no issue getting the same range as the Y, and if careful and not drinving too fast on highways, quite a bit more but of course the battery is also bigger...

Sam, 4,400 lbs isn’t heavy. The Model Y actually weighs more than that. The issue isn’t weight. Weight is almost irrelevant for efficiency at constant highway speeds on level ground. The cause of this car’s lack of efficiency is actually Aerodynamics.

There are too many misinformation about Ariya as if all the internet reviewers hate Nissan for some reason. I live in New York and on winter months I get around 3.2 miles/kwh and during mild weather days greater than 4miles/kwh is easy. I usually drive @ 65mph. I have a platinum e-force edition. Based on my observations of drive efficiency, Ariya's EESM motor is more suited for highway trips than local stop and go trips while Leaf permanent magnet motor is more suited for local trips (I have a Leaf as well).

Nissan had all of these years to come up with a good EV. They couldn't. Survival of the fittest. This company will be one of the first legacy companies to go belly up. They will not sell any of these, especially in the US. It is a poor value even at $10,000 less than it sells for now. Nissan, thank you for the Leaf. God bless you and good night.

All I can say is I get around 280 in the winter and around 340 in the summer out of my Ariya e-4orce 87kWh with mixed driving.

I bought my 2023 Ariya, and I had 1 option, sadly. But compared to a Tesla Y, I was looking at the Ariya, which has more options and is 17k less. The new Leaf is impressive! My Ariya range real world says 216 miles, but it can read 220 in the summer, lol! This past winter, my range only went down 12% compared to many others, which dropped from 20% to 35%. least efficiency is 2.9kWh; the most is 5.9kWh. On average, I stay around 3.2 - 4.2kWh. Tesla Y is 187 inches long, and the Ariya is 182, so 5 inches is not much to argue about, but the Ariay is taller, giving more headroom. My top-of-the-line Tesla Y = 75k, The Ariya with everything (10 trim levels, FYI) 61k. With 14k sold, Nissan's loyalty is high, and 61% of Ford Mach --E buyers traded out of Ford within 12 months. The Ariya is a long-wheeled SUV, so you get more in a smaller body and have a nice ride. Many Uber riders I have picked up, including 2 Russin Engineers, were shocked when they discovered it was a Nissan because of the smoothness and quietness. So you need to consider concepts the Tesla Y is about range. Ariya is about the daily commute and offering comfort. So, for 80% of America, the Ariya is perfect. While it is possible to put a 200kWh battery in the Ariya body (with modification), it is just not practical. Nissan is efficient and practical. Keep in mind that as soon as the Ariya came out, there was a Y "refresh." Oh, and while you wait 3 months or 3 weeks for repairs. I can go to Nissan locally and get everything I need. Which was my big selling point as a new EV buyer.

In Europe the situation is different. There’s no tax cut for locally manufactured cars and the Tesla is pretty expensive here, waiting for the Highland upgrade there’s not much to a Tesla concerning luxury. I think the Tesla is a class of its own looking at the minimalistic design, you have to like looming left all the time to get data. But still the Ariya isn’t all that popular here as well (Netherlands). Ours is a country where cars are pretty expensive because of added tax, but this is not the case on EV’s. Looking at “comparable” EV’s like the Mercedes EQB 250 AMG line and the BMW iXdrive M20, you could get a loaded edition of those for basically the same price. Now then they still don’t have ventilated seats and the acceleration that Ariya offers, but similar range and it’s still a Mercedes or BMW. I’m torn between the Ariya, which I really like, and the other two. Looking at operational lease. Why buy something that’s not known on the long term yet?

I own the FWD 90Kwh around USD 38,000 (free of tax EV in China) premium equipment and range in standard drive mode 490km (304 miles). If use eco drive probably would be much higher but I prefer more responsive driving. Great car.

I find eStep makes a difference, but Eco mode seems to just tone down the acceleration per pedal pressure, but that doesn't really effect my efficiency.

EPA ratings are not a consistent measure. Several automakers complained that it did not take into account their special tech, so they were allowed to modify how range is calculated. That is why the Porsche Taycan (which used the standard EPA formula to calculate range) often beats the Model S (using a clearly inflated modified range calculation) in third party range testing, despite Tesla claiming over a 120 mile advantage. As it is not a consistent measure, you can't read too much into EPA ratings. We simply don't know how Nissan calculated range. Is it an inflated manufacturer-developed calculation for this car or the standard formula? We really need to get to one range calculation for everyone so that we can make a valid comparison.

i like the Ariya, those ranges are useful for most people, problem is too expensive plus i already have a EV a 2012 leaf. with a 40 mile range. it be nice to get those 230 mile ranges i would never have to use any public chargers .

Yeah, we have an 87 kWh Ariya and never have to do anything but level 1 charge it at home, because the battery is so large. Only time we use public chargers is on very long road trips.

I actually saw an Ariya on the road today and got a pretty good look at it. It was much better looking than I thought it would be from photos and videos. I think the jet black paint job helps.

Over priced in the USA + no federal tax credit. Charging speeds are mediocre. Lacks true one pedal driving, Strange ergonomics where door side arm rests are lower than center console. Too many trim options, and the features most people want are on the higher trims. Non-competitive / low year term warranties. With the higher battery packs, the range is decent/not great, could be the weight, but also keep in mind that Nissan has a buffer of a non-usable amount built in. Which is all really too bad. As a life long Datsun/Nissan owner, I’m disappointed in this vehicle.

Two things to consider: 1. The average efficiency of an EV electric motor is 80%. The efficiency of the motors in a Tesla Model Y is 97%. 2. The Drag Coefficient of the Arita is 0.30 compared to 0.23 for a Tesla Model Y. Aerodynamic drag is a major factor in range. Taken together, the assumed lower efficiency motor and significantly higher drag of the Ariya, these can explain the lower range compared to the Tesla Model Y.

The 62 Kwh Ariya FWD is rated at 216 miles range. Which is not much less than the Leaf with the same battery. I'm not sure the efficiency is as bad as you think.

Sam, do the math. At 34 kwh/100 mi you would require a pack of about 98 kwh to achieve 289 mi of range (for the 4th/last model in the EPA sticker list). The pack size given for this model is 87 kwh. EPA range numbers are BS. Use the efficiency number, 34 kwh/100 mi in this case. W our 2020 Tesla MY LR we have averaged 279 wh/mi over 45k mi. The EPA consumption rating for this vehicle is 280 wh/mi. BUT. We do not get 316 mi range on the highway since we can only use about 65 kwh of the 74 kwh pack (about -4 kwh degradation over 3 years). To get 316 mi at 28 kwh/100 mi the pack would need to be rated at 88.5 kwh.

The Ariya is a decent car, however it is $43k base price, and because it is so much more than the Tesla, which gets the tax credits, it has no chance, and even though it is arguably a prettier car inside, the pricing is off and thus it only sells under 1k/month. The tax credits are driving the business; that is a huge finger on the scale forcing companies to build their cars here. Other countries like Brasil and Japan punish imports severely, so this tax credit thing is a taste of what is to come in the USA.

The $43k base price is less than the Model Y, not more. If you're factoring in the $7500 tax credit, that's fine, but you have to remember that not everyone qualifies. If you are single and earn more than $150k/yr, you don't qualify, so you can throw that out the window when car shopping.

Japan was never one to "play fair" in the import business. Televisions had a $100 tarriff, the Japanese didn't pay and the US gave up trying at $100 million. Then they had a $400 tax on small trucks, they imported trucks without beds to avoid that one. The 1982 Chevrolet Camaro was $5k in the US, but when imported to Japan it cost $25k due to "regulations". Don't feel too badly for them. It's not even a little bit of games they play.

Today in Houston I went to a dealership. $39.6K MSRP for a new 2024. Non negotiable. And there was a $5859 list of non negotiable add ons. The InterWeb said the car has been there 6 months. I laughed out loud in the sales managers face and left dancing while holding up my check book over my head. Let the car rust one the lot. 😁

I bought it in March 2023 and I was getting 304 miles. I got that at least 2 times when I charge but now I am getting less than 200. I decided to do early termination and looking seriously at the Tesla Mode 3 and Model Y. I am disgusted with the Ariya.

Hello from Canada Sam ! 3 major issues with Leaf customers hitted the reputation of Nissan.... and the Ariya. CHAdeMO is not common for fast charging stations, battery degradation over time, poor range in winter time (I'm in Québec, Canada -20°C january). Also: People are having a hard time reselling these. So without looking at the Ariya specs, they ditch the brand right away.

In the uk the Ariya is like rocking horse s*hit, the dealers are screaming for them! I waited 10 months for one and have seen no more than a handful on the roads and I’ve been looking!! I’ve test driven ev’s from Mercedes, Jaguar, BMW, the Ionic 5 and ID4 and there are a multitude of decision points to work through in order to make a choice. Price has to be the big factor, but range, drive ability and styling play their part. In my humble opinion the styling and drive ability are far superior to most others I’ve tried and if you want to be in the vanilla camp of the Tesla then so be it…. each to their own, I didn’t so chose the car that suited me best. I don’t think there is anything underlyingly wrong with the Ariya and the implication that there might be is just conspiracy….. if their not selling in the USA it’s because they don’t get the subsidy…. And as such are priced out of the market…. Perhaps Nissan should send some to the UK and alleviate the backlogs!!

Hi there. I live in UK and decided to buy the base 63Kw Ariya, after hearing about quality complaints of some Tesla owners. I didn’t really rate the styling of the Tesla models, they seem to have very sparse interiors. As you say, the Ariya is a bit heavier but you only have to look at the quality of the car and how well it’s screwed together to see what a good job Nissan have done. Looking under the hud you will see what a lovely job they’ve done. Even every fixing bolt is marked showing it’s been torqued correctly. Most body and door panels are Aluminium, and every window is laminated glass. No wonder the car is so quiet. It also has a heat pump as standard, plus heated seats and steering wheel. When I first looked at the car in real life, it’s surprising how big it is! It’s a real pleasure driving it in silence, yet there’s plenty of power when needed. I’m getting around 250 to 260 miles during our cool summers here. All this with the absolutely basic car. Just try one, you will be surprised.

Completely agree with what you’re saying and the points you raise..: BUT, one thing the Ariya has that the other cars don’t (especially in the UK) is the ability to use vehicle to grid. We’ve had 3 trials in the UK and they’ve all been completed with the chademo standard. I nearly considered a leaf because of this as yes the range may me lacking, yes they don’t have manually cool and managed batteries, yes it’s a nissian, but if you could fill it with cheap electric, saving the need to buy a battery storage system for the house such as a Tesla power wall or the new Givenergy all in one system, it does balance the cost. It depends not only on what car you want, but you’re entire house eco system. I have 9kWp of solar, 5kWh battery storage, 6kW inverter, a solar divert hot water tank and a solar divert car charger. Being able to pull the power back in the property would be very interesting to me.

Heard the Ariya gets only 2.9 miles/kwh. My old Leaf routinely gets 5.0 miles/kwh. That, and old (NMC) battery tech, means I don’t find it interesting.

It's price and interest rates. They waited too long to bring this to production and by the time it finally hit interest rates went up, tax breaks disappeared. I reserved and was able to sneak in on the old tax break. I've had it since May and love this car more every day. Platinum AWD, this summer on full charge it would get 280-300. Now that temps have dropped it's more like 220-250. Either way I'm good and never had an issue. Only once got it down to 25 miles remaining.

Weight should not be an issue. Tesla Model Y is almost just as heavy. Difference is very small. Problem is that Tesla Model Y is more streamlined and has better efficiency. The Ariya is an SUV that is high on the wheels with lots of wind resistance. That impacts the range. But why it is not selling is not about the range. Price in the Netherlands is the same as a Tesla Model Y so that is also not it. Websites testing cards are quite positive about the Ariya but always, when comparing to the Tesla , the Tesla wins. That also happens for other brands in those comparisons. When I asked the Nissan dealer end of last year about a test drive, I was told that ordering an Ariya had a waiting list of more than a year and he could not promise me anything. The price was also increased. So I gave up. I think it is more about the availability, at least that was it a few months ago.

The lack of tax incentives has to be the primary reason but I wonder if there's more. There is a large installed base of Leaf owners and the Ariya is a big upgrade over the Leaf even if it's not compelling when compared to a Tesla. It would be natural for a fair number of Leaf owners to trade in on an Ariya assuming that they are happy owners, are most Leaf owners unhappy with the car or with Nissan.

EPA is not revieling range tests, it is done by the EV maker. And there are different EPA testing variants, the manufacture can chose which one they want to use. WLTP range is done the opposite way

Ariya is beautiful, but it doesn't seem like a good deal based on MSRP. On top of Ariya's ambitious pricing, Nissan dealers further sour the process by forcing add-ons like nitrogen in the tires, paint protection, VIN etching, GPS locator systems, etc. Shopping around for the "least screwy" deal is very old school and exhausting for the consumer.

It isn't only Nissan dealers. But I got mine to throw all the extras in for free because I told them to find me a car without them. So they decided a sale today on a car in stock is better than possibly losing me to another dealer with a car without those extras. I was willing to drive to the dealer who had the car I was willing to pay for.

Tesla is a virtual signalling status symbol and nothing else besides fast and good range. Quality is very bad what fit finish paint parts are rare and service uses independent no no thing contractors often.. interior is as bland as they get no tactile feed back no gauge cluster cheap cost cutting but great cheap software techs way way less premium and luxury this nissan by far. But it does look coolant have a nice simple look outside good proportions and price cuts all the time bad for resale though.

There is way more to comparing a car than only size / range/ cost. Build quality, style, ergonomics of the dash and controls make all the difference. The Ariya is absolutely similar to Y and EV5 and id4 for interior room and range. Ariya is not selling because it was delayed over a year and the e4orce AWD is only now available...

Ariya at 59.7 cubic feet of cargo is not close or similar to Model Y at 72 cubic feet plus a 4 cubic ft trunk, so 76 total cargo volume for Model Y. The Ariya is close to Chevy Bolt which has 57 cubic feet. An EV6 is even smaller at only 50 cubic feet of cargo space.

Even more important than range is the only reliable and available Tesla charging system. With Tesla new or used it is available right now. With Ford and GM it might be available in a few years with a new car purchase. With Hyundai and Toyota it might never be available.

I will give some insight as a fire here, and I can only speak for myself, but I might be the exact target market for this car, and it feels like Nissan is marketing towards somebody like me very heavily. I have never in my life gotten a postcard mailing advert in premium glass from a car manufacturer, but Nissan sent me one about the Aryia. For me when I look at the competition, I’m always concerned about durability and engineering, I know that Nissan makes a good car because I’ve driven them for over 25 years, and I know that their electric vehicle technology is not going to explode or catch on fire. Even without the tax incentive - and incentives do matter - I just cannot see another company that offers a car that I like in this arena. I don’t want the ID4, I don’t want Tesla. I basically want the design and styling of my leaf SV with a nicer look and a bit more range. To me the most important thing is the warranty and the Aryia has what I desire. Also, the rims are very cool.

I have a 30kwh Nissan Leaf. It does exactly what I need but I'm afraid the Leaf and Ariya are not even on my radar for my next EV. Chademo charging is dead in Europe and the Ariya is way too expensive for what you get. Nissan just seem to have fallen behind. It's hard to look beyond Kia, Hyundai and especially the 77kwh MG4. (7 year warranties) I'm afraid that 300miles/480km will be fairly standard within 2 years. Anything less than 250mile range will seem very old technology in 5 years, and will depreciate like crazy. Nissan are in danger of going the same way as Nokia and Blackberry phones. Innovators who became followers .... too late.

Comparing EPA range against EPA range is not necessarily accurate. Some manufacturers overestimate and others underestimate. It's best to go with tested real world range, not EPA range.

Non market pressures being exerted on manufactures are leading to great malinvestments. When you push companies to adopt technology at a rate of change that exceeds their capacity you push them to the brink of failure and some will fail as a result. All this loss and waste will then be paid for and that cost will lead to an overall slower mass adoption and slower design iterations. Major automotive manufactures failures are going from likely to certain and this will worsen the global economic situation reducing consumer spending and slowing adoption rates.

I called January 2021 the Nissan dealer near Salzburg. I wanted a better EV 200 van with minimum 70 kWh battery and the in EU usual CCS. The salesman only talked only about this SUV. I explained him several times, when I want a SUV, I take the Tesla Y, but when I want a van, I would choose a much improved EV 200, but sure not with 42 kWh battery and Chademo.

One of the main reasons is that they dont qualify for the $7500 + sometimes another $7500 in CA, and other subsidies, if they had a plant in the USA, then the $47,000- 304 mi 87KWH model would be a steal at $32,000 and if you only received the $7500 would be a good deal at $40,000

Cost, Cost, Cost= Price Higher the Comparable EVs, No tax incentives, Dealers Markup. IMO, their target market were leaf buyers, so they should've just improved the leaf for these buyers to upgrade instead of thinking all new EV buyers are willing to pay Tesla prices.

Lately, another concern of mine when looking at cars is how well the air conditioner works. My sister's model x can't be driven through the middle of the day because the air conditioner can't possibly keep up with the 107° heat. I can't see payng over $40,000 for a run around town car, but if I were in that market I would forgive a range penalty for a comfort bonus.

Our Ariya seems to do well keeping up with temperatures over 100 F.

It has no frunk. And thanks to Carlos Ghosn and Renault, the public no longer trusts Nissans reliability.

Ariya is a fantastic car thats better than the rest. I wouldnt change my E4orce Evolve with any competitors on the market today. Much moore stylish than any Tesla inside and out. You are just a big Tesla fan, and getting boring to watch.
