Actually Minnie does the whistling for Hann. There are numerous videos where she did it live and on the spot, so i guess it is actually live. You can hear her live whistle come in slightly delayed if you try.

You're right on the money about Soyeon encouraging each member to be themselves musically! She actually dismissed Cube's vocal coach when she noticed they were making the girls sound the same. Soyeon encourages her members to be themselves and she absolutely writes lyrics thinking of their strengths, quirks and personal style.

Actually, Minnie DID indeed whistle those beautiful notes. You can find videos of KZfaq where she shows off her whistling those notes. Her whistling is truly phenomenal! She is so multi-talented and not afraid to whistle live. ; )

I don't know if anyone has said this already, but Soyeon mentioned in an interview that for the K/DA stuff, she used a different sounding voice (which you noted). She was approaching it as playing a character, and not herself, which I thought was pretty cool :)

i'm okay with people saying gidle doesn't have the strongest vocals technically because they have such a unique blend of voices, and it somehow just WORKS. a lot of that needs to be credited to soyeon, who understands her members and their strengths, and writes songs accordingly

People have been saying this more recently but Soyeon really knows how to use everyone's vocal style and range to work for the songs. I was worried about Shuhua for a while because she's also one of my favorites in the group, but when I looked back in at their older songs it was just that they didn't necessarily "fit" her voice whereas NXDE REALLY worked with her voice. Also thank you for mentioning that about Minnie. When I first heard that note on Lion I was absolutely in awe of it. Minnie was the perfect choice to go for that note and it's just incredible. It has this dissonance that is incredibly powerful and calls for attention--matching the concept of the song.

I can always recognize Soyeon's voice. She has a very very unique sounding voice to me similar to Chanmina and REOL. Everyone in I-dle has a unique voice that let's you know which or who is singing a part of the song.

I've been recently watching The Last Dance and can't help seeing some parallels between SY and MJ. It's been great seeing Soyeon grow as a leader and the members supporting her and becoming better versions of themselves (as you've pointed out - instead of chasing what's popular), despite everything they've had to deal with. It's heartening seeing them have so much success recently. I hope to one day watch a documentary on Soyeon and hear stories that the world is not ready for yet.

I don't think there's another reactors video other than you who can explaining it so well and detailed about their singing technique and all about their capabilities (that not many people are aware). The way people's so focused on hating on Soyeon makes them ignoring the fact that Soyeon might be a better singer, rapper and dancer (also producer) compared to their favorite (bias) from other groups. We might already loosing Soojin, but we should be grateful because of that Shuhua is starting to be more confident in singing compared to before. She's still need to work hard on this part tho but she already doing way more better than she used to be. Personally, Never Stop Me is a song than can be sung completely by Shuhua if she wants it. It was a perfect song for her to show casting her vocal ability. Yuqi is my ultimate bias, I love all the members but She's always been my bias from the beginning till forever. Her problem is, she's quite bad at remembering the lyrics. She could be almost at Soyeon level of a rapper who are great at singing and dancing too. If only she's never messed up the lyrics whenever she's start rapping tho😅. Yuqi should singing ballad even more in my opinion because she always delivering with full of emotion. Soojin has a better emotional control for a ballad songs and Yuqi is starting to be as good as Soojin on this part. Miyeon is just so perfect, but her singing skill sometimes ignoring the emotions that she should have to put on whenever she singing. Sometimes she's put her emotions but most of the times she's not. Minnie is so unique, her technique was also unique. She made gidle sounds more diversity because she's not just singing but her body also telling the story even is she just stand still. In conclusion, Gidle is a perfectly well balance group that not many kpop groups can have. They're so unique and so rare to find a beautiful talented girls as a group.

Love your content! I'm learning a lot just by your commentaries (as someone with no formal training in singing) and it helps me realize just how difficult their songs are. I appreciate how you also commented on Shuhua's sense of rhythm. I know there are singers who are really talented but struggled at first with rhythm (like Sam Kim and RAS's Raychell), heck there are even dancers who didn't start out with a natural rhythmic instinct, so it's really nothing to be shamed for as a singer/idol.

You should go listen to Minnie sings "Paradise" live (the group version is also very good). She wrote that song herself and it's on the B side track of the new album. 😊

Yay, glad you reacted to this. I 100% whole-heartedly agree that Miyeon needs to do sing a Disney princess song. She would absolutely slay there, but yes, you should see her Lee Mujin Service appearance! Love that you talked about how each member has their own vocal styles and they're not boxed in to singing a specific way. Idle is very intentional about the way they sing, and I'm happy to see that a professional did indeed recognize it and applauded them for it.

Ok I need to admit I'm not a big fan of kpop. I could even use wortd hater if we talk about idol kpop but today once again life showed me how ignorant I am. As I follow TFT I checked their queen card song and realised I'm already addicted to the chorus without even knowing it. It's a crazy day. In few hours I realised that my friend was on THEIR CONCERT in Berlin this Monday (earlier I didn't realised it was them). Watched many reaction videos, realised that Queen Card was a common phrase especially in universities in Korea for most beautiful girl and similarly king card. Then my friend made me even more stupid cause I used to listen K/DA like crazy and two of those girls were actually singing for Ahri (Miyeon) and Akali (Soyeon). After I listened Queen Card like 50 times on repeat I found this video from The killing Voice watched it and loved how talented they are, after that I ended up here, in one of my favourites reaction creators channel! In one day I'm literally in love in those girls! PS. I'm obsessed with J rock mainly (I love Ado too but my queen is Aimer ;)) PS2. As always, love how detailed your reactions are!
