This is one of Skillet's songs that is written from the direct perspective of God/Jesus, as are The Last Night and Savior. It begins with God saying "your love is mine for the taking" and "my love just is waiting to turn your tears to roses." (So nice they say it twice.) Then God says "I'll be the one that's going to hold you. I'll be the one that you run to. My love is a burning, consuming fire." - When life hurts too much, He says come to me and I will be your strength. In the chorus 'God' says "when darkness comes you know I'm never far, hear my Whispers In The Dark." - In life's darkest moments, He will speak to us in a soft voice and, as Casting Crowns (another awesome Christian band) says, "calm the storm in me" [in us]. This was great, it was like God whispered into your darkness right there in your reaction video, our dope ass dude. Amazing. #Skillet

The phrase “whispers in the dark” I’m pretty sure refers to a story in Bible where one of the prophets named Elijah finds a cave and God appears to Him in the form of a soft voice speaking. In the story, Elijah was being hunted and didn’t know where to turn. By God speaking to Him, He showed him he was there, regardless of the circumstances, which does seem applicable to what you are going through. I’ll be praying for you and your family Alex. We’re all here for you through this.

When my great grandmother died she spoke to my mother and said "Dawnie" (She hadn't recognized my mother in months so this alone almost brought her to tears.) "Ernie's here to bring me home. Can I go now Dawnie?" (Her husband Ernie had been dead for 20-30+ years.) She died an hour or so later from complications of her age and side effects from Alzheimer's.

@Jesse MacKenzie my grandparents were married 70-something years and they followed each other. I never got to meet them they died before I was born. My parents didn't spend too much time away from each other either my mom went first and then my dad but I wasn't there and it was for the wrong reasons I was supposed to be with them I was the chosen person to take care of them and I got that robbed from me so it's extremely painful. Not only did I lose all my stuff but I lost my inheritance and the little Trinkets and things that my mother told me stories about from her childhood my mom was born in the twenties in the very early twenties so I'm much older than most of you and having her sit down and tell me stories about hundreds of things my whole life and why she wanted me to have them and then have those things probably get thrown in the garbage for the person who just wanted the money and the property. So they took my stuff and got everything that was legal illegally changed into their name and I got nothing and I know that my parents suffered and it kills me. I guess maybe now that their God they know the truth but who knows we don't know till we get there. Take care of that was a very insightful thing that you said.❣

That's actually the miracle of the internet. Connecting you to so many people who either understand what you're going through or want to comfort you in your time of need. Passionate people come together to create strong bonds over things they love. You've got the strength to keep going, no matter what life throws at you. Your family should take the time they need to grieve and then celebrate the great times you all had with your Grandmother before her passing. You even have something greater, you have a visual and audio recording of your grandmother's words to you in your vlogs. Cherish those recordings always, they're truly special.

I always kind of took "whispers in the dark" to mean that god (or anyone you love as I'm wiccan) are the whispers in the darkness, the voice that'll lead you through it. The voice that'll take you back to the light. But I love his idea of what it means as well, that ignoring those negative whispers trying to draw you in deeper while the stars lead you away from the dark

@EJ Simas Hoping one day you’ll pull away from your Wiccan practices. My pastor was a Wiccan. There are many Wiccan who find truth, yet no accounting of a Christian becoming Wiccan. @EJ Simas Gods Love is represented through grace, mercy, and the prerogative of choice. However he does not give you the privilege of determining a different outcome to what your prerogative of choice will entail. The consequences are bound to that choice. If you find contradictions you haven’t read the Bible in entirety. Reading several chapters of a book will never give you full understanding; so is the same for the Bible.

How I heard of Skillet for the first time? My daughter opened some vid and "Whispers in the dark" was the background music. I liked it so much that I researched what song and artist it was and then just kept going through their song list...

Alex My Grandmother died from complications from Alzheimer's and my mother is at this moment battling dementia. I am an Army veteran and have seen many things and have had to deal with death probably more than the average joe. But having to watch my grandma and now my mother battle this disease is harder than many things I have dealt with. Please believe me when I say to you now I do know what it is your going through and you are not alone in having to battle this. Prayers for you my friend

Had substance abuse when my grandmother passed away. But in the end I realized and I know she'd rather see me with a smile instead of a tear, while remembering her. So every time I think about her, I don't cry nor get the urge to touch alcohol anymore. I feel joy. This is a big emotional toll for some people...

I’m so sorry for your loss. I know when reality hits, I was inconsolable. My mom passed away a little over 4 years ago and it was, and still is,super rough for me. She had brain cancer, so towards the end she lost her memories, personality changed- seemed almost like Alzheimer’s. Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide is what helped me along, it was her favorite band. Thinking of you.

You definitely went to the right band. I'm not religious, but this band will make you feel better body, soul, and mind. I'm so sorry about your grandmother suffering from a disease that has no cure. This disease will eat family's alive. I've never experienced it personally, but my mom has worked with many of these patients in the medical field. She takes care of them in nursing homes and also in individuals homes doing private duty care. My mom has been really attached to a lot of these patients. I've been with her after they pass away, and she is so sad and beside herself. I've cried with her a lot. She talked to me about a lot of these people. It takes a special person to do these jobs. I know I could never do it myself. I would be a absolute mess. I hope your mom is doing better, along with the rest of your family including yourself. Thank you for all your amazing real reactions. You've helped me get through this pandemic bullshit. I live for metal concerts, they're my therapy. I'm so lost without them.

There are so many "Losing a loved one" songs, it's crazy. I think most songs I listen to are just like that. The ones I can think on top of my head: - RED "Pieces" - In This Moment "Into the Light" - Thousand Foot Krutch "Already Home" - UnSun "The Last Tear" - Wihin Temptation "Our Farewell" - Light & Shade "Lionhearted" - Temperance "Stay" - Temperance "Everything That I Am" - The Murder of My Sweet "Shining After Dark" - Emphatic "What Are You Afraid Of?" - Submersed "Dripping" - Letters From the Fire "At War"

You can never be prepared for someone passing. My nan who I lived with most of my life passed suddenly from a heart attack. I was 20 and it floored me.i thought that was the worse pain in the world but 2 years later my gramps got ill. It was cancer. When he passed I was with him, working on him with the paramedics and I knew he was dying right there in my arms. I still wasn't ready to admit he had died. It's 10 years since his death nearly 11 in Jan and I honestly can't say which was the worse pain...knowing it was coming and seeing the lead up and the act of dying or just suddenly when I wasn't there someone disappearing with no warning. But I can say it does it better. You can heal. But it takes a long time. Just remember the good times and the bad. Talk to family about both. Don't feel bad about saying the truth about the person. Big hugs from the UK for anyone going through those brutal greaving times. 💚💗💚

I’m terribly sorry for your loss. I remember when my grandmother died in February 2017. I was so broken that I couldn’t do school work. I could only think about going home and escaping. I was like this for a couple of months until my mom found out about my grades and asked what what was going on. When she said that I finally broke into tears and started crying into my moms arms. It felt so nice to get all my emotions off my chest. Basically what I’m saying is it’s okay to share how you feel and even cry In the process.
