This is going to be a long comment, but I am moved to share. "Chaotic & Discombobulated" describes my baseline. :) This video really spoke to me. Most of my life I had stick straight, fine hair. I permed and struggled constantly to get curls with tools and rollers. After a bus accident in 2009, I have since had 5 spine surgeries plus a hysterectomy. Then Covid happened. Then I started a medication I didn't realize I was taking incorrectly for 11 months. I lost half my hair. I started taking oral minoxidil and stopped the med. My hair decided to come out of my head in about 4 different textures. I struggled alone thinking I must have fried my hair to the great beyond and literally thought it was growing out of my scalp damaged. (Didn't know what "frizz" meant yet.") So I kept cutting, and hiding and stressing, and shaming. Now....I am really thrilled to have lived long enough to be turning 51 this August. (So, add peri-menopause and lifelong depression/C-PTSD into this mix.) I had **no idea** my hair just simply had texture. It was just 2 months ago that I watched a CGM video and decided why not? I was SHOCKED to discover I could scrunch my hair (hello 90's!) and wear it wavy. Then I did what a lot of people might do...I watched way too many videos, bought way too many products, tried way too many methods and even thought about giving up on my multi-personality, can't make up her mind (chaotic and discombobulated) hair. Then, I realized I was a grown @ss woman, and I could actually do something called go with the flow....release my inner flower child...jump into the river of acceptance of what IS and actually start listening to the hair in front of me rather than forcing it to be someone else's hair. Watching this video, I feel like I am looking at myself. I feel so much less alone. It made me laugh and cringe (in "me too") and smile and suddenly remember that oh. My hair is as my hair is. And now my job is simply to watch where she takes me.... Thank you for this. KEEP GOING. 💜

The good thing about changing hair for a creator is it makes it easier to do new content. Like you can do videos about trying out brands you have already tried on your “new” hair. Another idea is you since you are trying new things you could do a series where you try other influencer’s routines on your “new hair” - like India Batson, manes by mell, curly swavey courtney (new or old) etc.

I only recently started styling my hair wavy so the 2a/2b (short) and 2a-2c (mid-length) is all I know. However, my kid and my sister's kids all went from mostly straight to curly once they hit puberty. This is not something that happened to myself or my siblings so it's been fascinating. My son's curls came out right in time for the teen mop that's currently in style (and another mom told me recently that many boys with straight hair are getting a perm). His fine, silky curls are so easy to style!

I appreciate you talking about menopause and hair! Due to cancer treatment, I abruptly went through menopause in a matter of days, and I've struggled with my hair ever since!

Iam scheduled to get a perm in my hair. I have my wedding in May and will perm my hair in Feb to have a better chance at my hair looking decent since menopause. I used to perm my hair before a college year to limit having to “do” my hair. I’m over it!

I noticed my hair lost a ton of curl and bounce after starting a new BC pill. Basically all the things you said in your video happened with mine, including the overly soft feeling. I honestly had a huge emotional "mourn" of sorts about "old" hair, but I've now learned to accept it is what it is and I am now a full on soft wavy. Especially because this BC pill is the only one that has helped with my PCOS, so I won't be stoping it any time soon.

Im 42. Have had health issues the past 12 years that caused massive thinning so I had worn wigs for years. Well they are way to expensive now to be replaced every 2-3 months. Now I have grey coming in, hair is still thin, doesn't curl the way it did when I had more of it 15 years ago, texturemore course, meds that wreck havoc on hair... trying to figure out what the heck to do with it and I could only find teens and young adults who spend hours styling. 😂 I don't have the energy and with myositis and arthritis ah yeah not happening. I know now one wants to hear my life story but it's just fantastic to find a curl channel with an adult who is more relatable and not so freaking hyper

This is a great video. Thank you. I’m 45 and I’m experiencing some curl pattern changes. It went from some curly/wavy to Shirley Temple tight curls. Even some of my grays are curly and smooth. Thought I was going crazy.

I had noticed your hair was changing & figured it was hormone related. I know what you mean about comparing too. I'm always comparing my lower density curls to those of you with high density curls & waves. Your hair is so full & beautiful! 😍 I like this length on you, too. I'd definitely be interested in hearing more about your changing hair!

My curls are doing the exact same thing. My hairdresser has curly hair and said when curly hair turns gray it gets straighter. My front, especially my left side, is straight and big. It’s driving me crazy!

I think your hair is beautiful before and now. It’s just a different version of itself. Our bodies change as we go through life so makes sense our hair will too. Where in your line up of products do you apply the salt spray?

Thank you! You are so right, everything changes with time! I put the salt spray in after my hold products like gel or mousse but before hairspray. Which goes in before diffusing. I also find salt spray works great for refreshing too! Thank you for watching!

Your hair still looks great even when it's less curly. I was interested in you saying you use salt sprays. I sometimes use them (or texture sprays) when my hair seems too soft and it does perk it up, but I usually only do it when I'm close to hair wash day, cause I find it can make my hair look dry and straw like. Maybe I'm using it wrong. Ideas? I've tried adding leave-in conditioners to help with that, but still not as good as I'd like it to look.

I am 57 & also peri menopausal. I've just started enjoying my natural waves & curls, since I learned about caring for it 3 years, so yes please continue putting out videos as your hair continues to change. I just bought a sea salt spray hoping it'll help with the straight strands. Like you, I too consider myself to be lazy & don't bother with curl training & whatnot. My hair is what it is, not perfect & that's totally okay.
