My hamster just died on the 21st of October he live for 2 years and 2 months. Honestly I’m happy he died because he was suffering from a type of disease I think,he lost all his fur and could barely walk.

I’m sorry for your lost it’s sad these little creatures have short life spans...and can easily be injured, killed or get sick. I had 3 hamsters now I’m down to 2 hamsters....tribble died a year ago due to a infection....It was on a Saturday I treated him because I thought one of his eyes was closed due to sleep” much like our eyes when too much eye mucus makes it hard for the eye to open” he was able to open the other eye and he scrurried away doing his normal activities, he’s normally In the hamster pin because he hated to be in his cage dispite it being over 2500square inches. It was time for feeding and I couldn’t find himI thought he was in one of his many nest he built....I’m sleep when I hear a loud Screech....it was Tribble having a Seizure” I was terrified” he finally came out of it and seemed fine, but I knew I had to get him to the vet.....it was 2am I’m the mourning....he was Lethargic and getting old to the touch, he was also shivering....at 4am he passed, I could tell his brother Tarble was very upset....after Tribble died tarble wouldn’t let anyone pick him up including me. Tarble used to let anyone pick him up. I had a small box with his favor tissue and buried him I was able to etch a tombstone...Tribble is a winter white dwarf hamster he lived for a little over a year. His brother Tarble will be 3 years old” unusable for a winter white dwarf hamster” No hair missing but he does have a bad limp” and no longer as active he barely touches his wheel....I ended up putting his water and food close to where he sleeps, I know it’s getting closer to me having to say goodbye to Tarble. My Robovoski hamster is 3 and a half years old and he still uses his wheel and built nests..no fur missing, and still noisy at night” should name him jinx” the name of the mouse on the green mile” The point being some hamsters live long and some don’t” kind of like humans some die young some die old. Anyway sorry for the long story and sorry for your loss...atleast he had a good owner and life.

This is a terrible process to deal with. It’s always harder when you don’t know what the cause is. I do hope you get another by the end of the year. Hamsters are the only reason I subscribed and watch and have been for years.

Sorry for you loss 💔 I recently lost my hamster Vivian. She was fine one day then the next day she didn’t eat and would just sit in the corner of her cage not moving much. She passed away before I could get her to a vet.

I’m so sorry for your loss, take it slow, grieve on your own time. Losing a pet is one of the hardest things to go through. Just remember you didn’t do anything wrong and you gave him amazing care (he was so lucky to have you as his owner). A couple months ago, my hamster Mulch passed away suddenly and I kept blaming myself even though I didn’t do anything wrong. I gave her the best care I could provide, just remember it’s nature. Everyone grieves differently when my first hamster Pipsqueak passes almost a year went by before I was ready to get a new hamster. When my hamster peach passes away, I wanted to get another hamster right away (I missed caring for and watching the cute little things) but now after Mulch’s passing I really don’t know when I’ll get another hamster. If you want a new hamster very soon then don’t hesitate to get one but on the other hand if you are not ready to get another hamster don’t feel like KZfaq is pressuring you to do so. Whether you want to wait 5 days or 5 months we are here for you. Hamster loss is a hard thing, try not to dwell on Gerg’s passing and try to think about all the amazing memories you have with him.

It sounds like he had clemmings disease, which is often mistaken as parasites by vets. I'm so sorry for your loss, he was lucky to have someone who cares so much for him. I hope you have better luck with your next hamster in that he does not get ill 💕
