I'm honestly surprised you didn't get spoiled about Dabi's identity; it was amazing to see a genuine reaction. The entire fandom guessed that he was Touya early on so for a lot of watchers and of course the manga readers this wasn't a shocker. The way he revealed it was what really made it special for everyone. The voice actor for Dabi did an amazing job too.

Yup defintely one of the best episodes of the show for the payoff. Whether you knew and could see the bread crumbs along the way to Dabi being Toya, or if it was a complete shock, they did the moment pure justice. Both Sub and Dub actors absolutely killed Dabi's performance. So glad we're finally here.

First time Dabi was shown, he was standing in front of a hair salon. And during night time scenes, the shade of black for his hair has always been a little less.

Well we all already saw this coming from miles away, but still wow just wow

I know I'm biased bc I adore Dabi (some of us like our bacon extra crispy, don't judge me) but I really loved this episode. His whole dramatic theater kid speech is so cathartic.

This is probably one of the most heavily anticipated episodes in all of MHA. Even more than Deku and Shigaraki’s slingshot battle. People had VERY strong inklings about what was going to occur, but then people were COMPLETELY swept off their feet by how they did it. Which I’ll cover the upsides and downsides of them doing that. Because there’s the thing about twists. It’s not just the reveal, it’s what the reveal changes and what matters to it. Which leads us to the biggest twist. Best Jeanist. Ok, everyone griped they showed him in the opening scene and ruined his grand reentry into the field out of NOWHERE, and I can’t deny that wasn’t the smartest decision. But as usual, even with that being the case, being down a top 5 hero was a HUGE signal the heroes didn’t have what they need and now here comes the biggest wild card of the hero cast. Not because he’s weird, (which he is) but the fact that he was in charge of Bakugo in internships, got EXPLODED by AFO, SOMEHOW RECOVERED, got disappeared by Hawks, (with his own sidekicks likely unaware of where he vanished to) and now here he is AGAIN. And not just anywhere but on ground zero there to show people why he’s the freaking #3 hero. This guy has next to nothing to his name in this story but they made him matter SO MUCH here it’s honestly ridiculous. And he became a fast favorite as a result for many. (As for the early reveal, I think they wanted you to think about why he has come back across the episode. But yeah, they should’ve waited for the end of the episode even if it was that beyond random.) Ok, I have to address Uraraka again. As usual I’m always excited to see what gravity rules she breaks in any given fight because she breaks ALL OF THEM. One detail the anime missed was Toga’s sweater was floating after Uraraka grabbed her wrist but only by the sweater. But instead, it made it look like Uraraka is now at the point where she can actively pick and choose when to use her quirk EVEN when all 5 fingers make contact. Which is HUGE. (And while that’s possible, it’s not a reflex at least meaning it’ll still be a rare sight. Girl still has to wear gloves to bed just in case) But they DID show what I was waiting for with her zero satellites. And she finally got to show another rule breaker. There is NO WAY all that stuff was in arms reach of her when she fell. SHE SPREAD for that move. Doesn’t matter if it wasn’t far, just the very idea she can do that unshackles her SO MUCH. Uraraka always breaks rules in little snippets as she develops but you know once this goes nuts, she has the potential to be downright UNSTOPPABLE. (I have Uraraka’s quirk in my top 3 strongest quirks as a result) Also unclear what she’s doing, but Toga’s whole combat style is lots of movement so finding a way to limit her movements is actually really smart effective or no. It’s the best shot for the situation. Uraraka was VERY genuine taking into regard Toga’s interpretations and giving her honest and genuine answers AND even giving pause for thought when Toga felt like her response proved what she was asking. She thinks even sweetheart Uraraka would write off Toga for being expendable because she’s not worthy of being saved. What makes this emotional situation so shakey is even TOGA doesn’t know what she’s calling for here. She keeps talking about love over and over and it always seems like it’s a romantic obsession. But with the loss of Twice, and her family situation, it makes far more sense she demands familial connection. (Just a reminder Twice and Toga are a decade apart if you got caught on her romantic obsession) And based on how Uraraka has evolved her own feelings for Deku and how it compared to Toga’s which it has from the outset at the camp attack, something is seriously wrong. Reinfield’s syndrome makes things complicated on base emotional levels, who knew? I’ll leave the whole AFS and Machia collision alone with how now BOTH of these monstrosities are in the same place alone. I’ll just say that’s actively horrifying watching AFS split control. It’s PRETTY ROUGH finding who controls what in that (literal) hot mess. The other being Bakugo who is STILL thrashing about like a nimrod even in this situation he’s in. And that leaves us with Dabi. I think people have called this the worst kept anime secret. And it’s no wonder. One of the most memorable moves Endeavor uses in season 2 is his blue fire blast on the Nomu, only to introduce a stitched up guy casting blue fire with similar eyes in season 3 after knowing of Endeavor’s abusive past and 3 kids uninroduced. The literal FIRST thought people have is normally “Is Dabi a Todoroki?” And the best defense I ever come up with is don’t be ridiculous! He has black hair! Todoroki’s only have white and red hair! (Would be a shame if we 1st see him outside a hair salon as they introduce the newly expanding league of villains.) and then he starts spouting the full names of heroes from Enji Todoroki to Keigo Takami. The name he muttered to Hawks? If you go back, you can lip read him saying Touya Todoroki. They put him against Geten where he gives ZERO care if he has frostbite or not. (His body is built for freezing temps.) and the slow reveal of Touya’s “death.” Now bite your tongue. They threw all that away with a national grandstand and HEAVILY focused not on the reveal, but who it impacted and how Touya had every intention to dig his heels into this make this so INCREDIBLY well done. Endeavor can’t fight his son, of course he can’t. He panics as his son reveals he has Endeavor’s ENTIRE moveset, and truly sell not just a surprise, but a national SHAKEDOWN. The Todoroki drama has been blown open, and now we even know exactly why he’s so well trained by comparison of the other league members. Even if ultimately not much, he was taught by Endeavor. And has since been spying on his father and even sending villains his way to fight. (Star servant and Ending are the 2 season 5 villains Endeavor battled. 1 controlled glass, the other controlled white paint and he ripped it off the street.) And with that, we have Touya Todoroki. I used to say Shoto has fire around 1500-2000°F, and Endeavor maxes at 5,000°F, and Touya who has FAR greater fire likely has around 10,000°F. (His fire he disappeared in was approximately 3600°F that I know.) I MAYYYYYYY have been off on my estimates. Turns out these people ACTUALLY generate fire comparable to ACTUAL stars. And if Touya’s fire is blue….let’s compare him to a blue star. They burn hotter, brighter, larger, but not very long. So I was only off by 4 times….and the metric. Dabi can probably clock around 40,000°…kelvin. No I am not kidding. I MAYYY have underestimated the Todoroki’s. (Just so you know I have NO idea how Shoto’s ice can even be QUANTIFIABLY compared because his ice now should be BELOW absolute zero for his ice to last even SECONDS around Dabi’s fire.) So yeah. The Todoroki’s are in the Kelvin metric now. And breaking it. (There’s no such thing as negative degreees kelvin but Shoto DEFINITELY made it there.) The reason I gauged off was I found melting points of materials they burned through, but for it to be so INSTANTANEOUS, that’s where the hotter temps come in. This episode is absolutely insane and I can’t wait for more.

AFO: No! Tomura, you must retreat! Tomura: I didn't hear no bell Little side note, in the manga, Toga never explains the big thing about Jin. Which is why Ochako is so confused. Because she's not exactly sure why she's talking to her. But she instantly regrets shutting her down once she sees that she was crying. And it pushes her to question why Toga was upset. Which is why the anime having Toga mention her reason for being upset last episode kinda takes away from Ochako's confusion and trying to understand Toga. Toga does love Ochako the same way she loves Stain and Izuku. So essentially, one of her crushes didn't get what she was trying to convey. Which has to suck. When this reveal happened in the manga, it actually out trended the literal US election. Dabi is built different. Also, it's really funny how Shigaraki gave that speech a few episodes ago about how heroes will destroy their families and Endeavor completely ignored him. Only for one of the biggest examples of him being selfish and destroying his own family to appear. Endeavor is trying to improve, yes. But that doesn't mean his past actions just go away. He added fuel to that poor boy's flames and then tossed him aside once he realized he wasn't the perfect child he wanted to create. And now, Touya will reduce everything to ash. Him and Skeptic pulled through with the tag team of the century.

I thought Dabi may be related, and the internet was buzzing about it, but I hadn't expected the reveal to be made like this! And honestly, I questioned the Ice guy in the Liberation army too😅🤔 But seeing Endeavor frozen(no pun intended) and genuinely scared of this reality, and hearing Shoto call him Dad (I think for the first time on the show) broke my heart😢 And then hearing him ready a Prominence Burn!!?!.. Another great reaction to an epic episode!

Dabi has the quirk factor for ice but his quirk is stronger than his father's fire. SO basically his body is made for ice while his quirk is stronger than fire thus resulting in him hurting himself when he uses his quirk. making him the worst combination thus becuase of this he was a failiure in endeavors eyes
