My High Power Rocket Motor Failed

In this video, I prep my Wildman Rocketry Mach 2 kit to fly on a Cesaroni K300 Classic Long Burn. This motor is notorious for having some...we'll say, issues. It didn't go great for me, but sometimes you have to go broke if you want the performance.

HOW TO PREPARE A PRO 54 CTI MOTOR FOR SUCCESS: 1. DISREGARD INSTRUCTIONS. 2. INSTALL TWO ADDITIONAL O-RINGS (ONE FOR EACH CLOSURE) IN THE APPROPRIATE GROOVES. 3. APPLY WHITE LITHIUM GREASE ONTO O-RINGS, THEIR GROOVES, AND INSIDE BOTH ENDS OF THE MOTOR CASE. 4. EPOXY REAR CLOSURE TO PROPELLANT AND LINER WITH JB WELD. 5. INSERT INTO MOTOR CASE UNTIL PROPERLY SEATED AND TIGHTEN DOWN THE RETAINER RING. 6. SEND IT.

Yes. I can hear an extremely high pitched squeal at about five different ascending pitches after continuity and immediately prior to the ground test of the ejection charges. And then again at the end of the clip in the background after you say "good to me"

I saw that whole thing play out at NSL. I didnt hear the announcment at all but thought "i wonder if that was braden, that was probably braden" not gonna lie the paint looks really good in my opinion though.

I just grenaded a 3G case due to a similar issue, so I'm really scared about flying my L1030 on a 6GXL at LDRS... Motor reload was a gift from a mentor so i'm praying no issues on the motor side

In this case, there's really nothing to prevent it other than fly a different motor. haha

@bigdipper620 Theoretically it's under warranty, but given the manufacture date I'm likely out of luck on that one, unfortunately. I chose to give it a shot anyway because the motor is so unique in terms of performance and size. Aerotech doesn't really have anything comparable because the K250 has a lot less impulse. I'm thinking about trying again next year with the Loki K350 if I can find one, though.

I still have two brand new 3g and 6g CTI 54mm cases, about 2 years now, that I am scared to fly. The lore lives on...

The 3g case and reloads should be fine to fly. It's only really the longer motors that have issues. I think that most of the 6g reloads will be relatively alright if you take the proper precautions. The K300 is an outlier among the other motors it's size for just how unreliable it is.
