i got admissions scholarships for both actually! for hku you dont need a separate application, as long as your grades are good enough (they have a table of information that they provide to the applicants), you automatically receive one! for cuhk admissions scholarship, you dont need a separate application as well. But unlike hku, the admissions office decides if they want to offer you an admission scholarship. I also got the belt and road scholarship for cuhk. for this one you will need a separate application!

omg im honored! ahahahaha jk; The answers to your questions are below: 1. I did not separate them into headings. Even though there is no static requirements, I would prefer my personal statement to be organized in an essay format in paragraphs so this gives it more of a flow. I just made sure all 5 elements were there without the specified terms. My personal statement is linked in the description so you can go and check it out! 2. I think you have difficulty in doing that because you assumed that your passion is your only motivation to study a subject; but I think theres a lot more to that. For instance, what do you want to achieve in life? How might your major help you to do that? Even within a major, simply being passionate with the content might not be enough. For instance, pursuing a Life Sciences major you may end up being a researcher, or a professor, or even end up in a field not entirely related to Life Sciences. Are you suitable for the field you want to go into? What skills to you want to gain from the major? These are things you can consider. Of course you don't need to have your life planned out entirely, but I'm sure the admission officers want to get a sense of what you want to achieve from a particular major. Hope this is helpful to you!!

Hiii this is a good question! For me I did not do that simply because of time constraints, but it definitely doesn't hurt to tailor the personal statement to your particular university that you're applying. Even though I did not do that, I was asked in my CUHK interview why I chose CUHK in particular in my Biomedical Science interview. A similar question came up in my HKU Biomedical Science interview as well. So I really think it depends on what you want to prioritize in your personal statement. As you can see, I mentioned more about my extracurriculars, because I thought i won't have a chance to talk about that in my interview. But i cannot give you an absolute answer as to what will come up in your interview, so it ultimately depends on you! i know i didnt give you a very clear cut answer but i hope this answer helped a bit :)

hi there! there are absolutely no restrictions as to what you need to include in your personal statement. I have friends who took an entirely different approach, and talked about their childhood and personal experiences in their personal statement, and also secured an offer at the end! For me my personal statement was pretty formal/academic because I am planning to do research in university, and I was aiming to get scholarships; so I would say whether or not its necessary for you to include this entirely depends on you and the overall flow of your personal statement! hope this helped ☺

yes, I definitely had some black sentences for transitioning or some of them are topic sentences. You definitely need some black sentences to make your entire essay flow; just make sure you black sentences are as short as it can be so you have space for more informative sentences :)

@@huikyle yes! I was accepted into both Biomedical Sciences and Sciences for both HKU and CUHK. I was also offered the Belt and Road scholarship from CUHK (which I didn't end up accepting).
