Hands down the cheapest and most effective retinoid is The Ordinary’s 0.2% retinal emulsion. It’s potent, non-irritating, even for those new to retinoids, and after using daily for a few months will completely transform your face. Trust me. I’m 45 and now look like I’m 30 and I’m loving it (and all the attention ;) 😘

I’m on a tight budget, so I’ve been alternating between the ISNTREE Hyper Retinol EX 1.0 Serum ($15) and the two retinoids from Good Molecules (the gentle Retinol Cream for $8 and the 1% retinol night oil for $12). I’ll have to give the Stratia one a try one day. I guess the good thing about having sensitive skin is that I don’t have to splurge for the heavy hitting Tretinoin.

I have sensitive combination skin and my gateway retinoid recommendations for someone absolutely new to retinoids are two Korean skincare products that I absolutely loved as I began my retinoid journey. 1) Beauty of Joseon Retinal Eye Serum (0.02% Retinaldehyde). 2) By Wish Trend A-mazing Bakuchiol Night Cream (0.03% Retinal + Bakuchiol). I am currently using the By Wishtrend product for my under eyes and neck. LOVE it. For face, I moved from one tube of Naturium 0.05% Retinal to Naturium 0.1% Retinal to now 0.15% Youth to The People Retinal+Niacinamide Serum. They are all FANTASTIC products. I'd just recommend anyone starting off to go slow and let your skin get used to a strength before moving up. :)

@taranveersingh5926 26 күн бұрын
@@rnoor9078 If you have dry to normal skin, then 'By WishTrend A-mazing' is a fantastic one and done post cleanse step for you. As it doubles up as a moisturiser due to its thicker consistency. If your skin is combination/oily or you generally find By Wishtrend too heavy, then I'd recommend moving to Naturium 0.05% strength for face and continue with BOJ eye serum for undereyes and neck :)

Your recommendation on Stratia started me on my retinol journey last year. I moved up to .25 SkinMedica retinol, and am now up to using .05 Tretinoin twice a week. I am still using my Stratia and SkinMedica on the other days, or on my neck which is more sensitive. I also purchased Avene’s retrinal, but have not had the chance to use it, as I overestimated how long it takes to use these products up when you only use a pea sized amount. I moved up in strength very slowly, and aside from some light peeling occasionally, no real side effects.

I appreciate all the info, is there a difference for men when it comes to retinoids? I’m now consistent with moisturizer so maybe I could dabble into these. I think it would be nice if you showed a proper way to apply these things, some of us only know how to violently rub against our skin lol, also moisturizers and such come in such tiny bottles that I have to believe you’re not supposed to use as much as lotion or you’ll get two uses out of them. Great vid doc!

My fine lines are reduced, and my complexion is brighter and smoother. The panel is affordably priced, which is a huge plus. There are lots of scientific papers backing red light therapy too. Thanks for all the great information in this video - it’s helped me make better skincare choices!

Had a look and I have to say if I’m going for a red light device to treat facial and neck aging I’d spend less than what these panels cost and be more comfortable using it by purchasing one of the well documented flexible red lite therapy masks available. I’m still waiting for the day when all these devices aren’t overpriced because of hype and demand and instead more fairly priced for what they actually are..LED lights 🙄

Hi Dr Ellis! I use ALL of your products and enjoy them so much! Will you be coming out with a retinol type of product in your line anytime soon? I would love it if you did because I use your Lucent-C and find it quite effective. My sensitive skin is just fine with it for everyday use. The products you have launched so far really work for me, so I’d be super happy to integrate a Prequel retinol into my skincare rotation! I currently use a nighttime retinol serum product by Transderma, out of Sweden. It is an oil and I adore it, however for 30 ml of product, it costs $175! Kinda steep, but it is the very best I have ever found! I only need a drop or two nightly but it is still more than I’d ideally like to spend. Have you heard of or used it? You input would be appreciated! Thanks!👍🏽

I want to go to tretinoin eventually if I can, but I have been stepping up since I only started using retinols regularly thus year and I remembered finding differin irritating when I was a kid with acne way back when. I started with Olay’s retinol night moisturizer and have since moved to differin adapalene gel until I’m mostly done with the tube - no irritation thus far. Should I try stepping up with the medic8 line you recommended after that before trying tretinoin or should I just go for it? If going with medic8 should I start at the least concentrated or somewhere in the middle if I’ve been fine with adapalene?

I just stopped my isotretinoin course for acne, i have scars and pih, already using azelaic acid prescription strength but I'm confused between adaplene cream and tretinoin 0.05% for my acne scars and maintainance treatment as what's best between two for me

I have ultra dry reactive skin and the Augustinus Bader retinol serum has been very kind to me. (I buy the sample sizes in bulk, it's way cheaper.)

I’ve been using Tretinoin 0.05 since October 2023 6 nights a week. One night a week I use Cerave Treatment glycolic and lactic acid. I use Medik8 retinal 3 eye cream $85 and I have purchased the 6 strength $109 to use once I finish the 3. With Tretinoin I have noticed it has brought out dark sun spots from beneath the skin so hopefully they fade, I use Aloha Arbutin and Tranexamic acid in the morning. I’m 48 and noticed my first eye line wrinkle. So I hope the Medik8 helps. I use Tretinoin on the orbital bone under the eye where the line is, haven’t put Tretinoin up close to eye as I get dry eye. Here in Australia we have to buy Medik8 online.

What do you think about Avené? I use their retinal because I have sensitive skin.

Are RX tretinoin and RX tazarotene the same? Can they be used interchangeably? Is one better than the other? Is it ok to alternate our retinoids in general? I use tazorac and retinalehyde on different days. Is that ok?

How do you know when your skin is tolerating a retinol enough to move up to a higher concentration?

I like Avene Retinal 0.05 and 0.1 . I have a sensitive skin with a little of rosacea and i really love this one . I tryed the ordinary 0.5 squalane and my skin turned super irritaded and it worsed my rosacea . I like the suggestions but they are not available in Europe ( except medik8 , but is too expensive) Thank you

I rotate between SkinBetter and Sente. Both are gentle and well tolerated by my 73 yo skin. Unfortunately I can't use tretinoin for the reasons you mentioned.

Before I used to use the Olay 24, Geek and georgous 0.1 and A313 but didn’t really see any difference on my skin. I’ve now ordered the ordinary 0.2 serum. Hopefully I will see some results this time around. I’ve also read something about vit A derivatives decreasing facial fat. Anybody know anything with certainty about that?

Would you be able to review Platinum Skincare's Fusion A Retinoid Concentrate? It comes in .15%, .25%, .35% and .55% concentrations and uses a combination of Retinal, Granactive Retinoid, and Retinol. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this product and some other products from their lineup.

So if you’re using an over the counter retinal without lactic acid in it would you recommend using say a 10% lactic acid serum along with it during the same application to speed removal of age spots?..Or maybe just over the age spots only to avoid possible all over irritation? Thanks🙏

What do you think of the Skinbetter Science Retinoid? I like the idea of the MediK8, but a couple year ago I tried some products from them and had a bad reaction, so I am a bit hesitant with this brand (for me). The Skinbetter Science sounds more suitable for sensitive skin types.

Luv your videos! Wondering if its safe ro use any form of vitamin A on the eyelid. Im 60 with dark discoloration , texture, and couple milia on my eyelids. Thought maybe a vitamin could be helpful???

You could try a glycolic instead... that's how I got rid of my milia...and it does also help build collagen.

What do you think about the Geek & Gorgeous A Game retinal? I’ve just started trying it because it was said to be a “dupe” for the Medik8 Crystal Retinal. I’ve also finished 2 tubes of the Medik8 retinal (3 and 6) but for that money, I didn’t see enough results. The geek & gorgeous ones (0.05 and 0.1) are very affordable and the reviews are very promising! Curious if you’ve tried it.
