Not financial infidelity, but financial irresponsibility, because he did not hide it. They are only six month's married, but really only she is married at this point, not him, he's living his best single life without any consideration or respect for her. I gather she is being responsible and living within their means and saving for the future, he is not. Unless she can get him on the same page, she will call back in a couple of years "Dave, we are $60k in debt and cannot make the minimum payments". Either he grows up, or gets out. And he has to turn it around within 1-3 months or she should cut him loose and get on with her life, because he will only drag her down.

@@catherinep2034 Your OP only mentioned cutting up credit card, not cancelling card, so that is how I answered your question. This reveals a "crack" that each partner should be double checking if they are on Ramsey Plan. Partners still need to pull credit reports to be sure card is actually cancelled with card issuer. Caller made a big assumption that husband's Amazon account was officially closed.

@@funsize5441 That's a broad brush to use in this (or any) single situation. Most long-term marriages have had/will have much worse happen during the years. If 2k and a broken promise derails a marriage, it's not going to be strong enough to deal with future "worse" events. There will be lots of "for better or worse" in the future from both sides. They just need some counseling (no different than most newly married couples).
