Az, I'm in the midwestern US. One thing that a lot of US gardeners are starting to recognize is that there are benefits to planting native wildflowers near your food crops. First, the flowers attracts a lot of pollinators. Secondly, they attract predatory insects they help to keep the pest population in check. Diversity is important too. I know nothing about gardening in your climate so I don't know if the benefits will be the same. It's something to consider though. The way I look at it is, we ask a lot from mother nature, so while planning a garden or homestead, we should consider what we can give back to mother nature. Looking forward to seeing your homestead develop. Thanks for sharing your journey!

I love that tip. I'm in Sweden and struggling so much with snails, caterpillars, and something keeps eating my tulip bulbs. Will look into that!

In Australia there's lots of initiative (even in the general public) to plant native plants, I remember there was even a government program where they give you free native plants! Most people don't just have lawn, usually even the non-gardeners will have a few plants in their yard on their lawn, and most of the time the plants I see them planting are native :)

In addition to tasting good, molasses has lots of vitamins and minerals. Cow’s innately know what vitamins and minerals they are deficient in. Tropical grass is traditionally deficient in needed vitamins and minerals. Please consider putting out a trailer with vitamins and minerals. If the vitamins and minerals are kept in separate free choice bins, the cows will only eat what they need. They will not overdose. Your cows will be happier and healthier in the long run. Additionally it will give you information about what deficiencies your individual fields have.

Do your own research on wild fungi but I’m pretty sure that is white parasol and incredibly delicious, I often forage them on the mid north coast of nsw in the wet summer months. An inspiring journey your family is on together, wishing you all the best for healthy, happy future. Nothing like growing your own and hunting and gathering, so good for the soul✌️

You’ve planted a fantastic range of fruit trees, including many popular varieties I remember from my times living in Asia. Regarding the citrus trees, have you considered pomelo? We loved them when in Thailand - basically like big, sweet grapefruit and amazing eating chilled from the fridge or with salads (even sprinkled with chilli powder!) I’m really excited about this new channel as you’re undertaking something very different to just(!) a farming venture, which alone has some great potential, but mixing it up with outside-the-box stuff. I wish you luck and look forward to your journey.

I am shocked...You are a man of many talents Az my brother, Surf and Turf as they say LOL. You are a diamond in the rough while saying that I am validating you and at the same time sitting here in wonder as to what comes next? kind of like when polishing a diamond...a keen eye says it has potential but the true value shines through the cutter then the polisher this takes decades of experience and sometimes luck. You are all of those 3 things, I am all in brother...you will succeed at your own measure! RESPECT!
