EDMR was a HORRIBLE experience for me as well. I have complex-PTSD from some childhood junk & a few treatments sent me spiraling down an emotional rabbit hole. I'll be booking a consultation for Ketamine after watching this.

My first treatment is tomorrow and my anxiety is also at a 10. I’m so nervous. Nervous that I’ll be triggered beyond repair and require a psych stay as a result. You explaining a progression of how the medication is affecting you is massively helpful.

Thanks for posting. We as a society have such a stigma on all drugs but we need to see them as tools that can help us free our minds from the stresses of this crazy world we live in. Stay strong. I hope the infusions are making a real difference.

...to people fighting with their insurance companies and health care providers, Docs to get access to this treatment - KEEP THE FAITH and keep fighting! It won't be long (I hope) its available to every American who needs it. My suggestion - if your MD won't provide either the spray or the infusions, find one that does. It's your life. Sadly Insurance companies will only pay for the spray hope that changes soon.

Leigh Vanshane hi Leigh , I had it done on Thursday but instead of an IV in my veins they did it through my stomach . My symptoms have toned down quite a bit but as I was pretty suicidal when I went for my first treatment last week so I’m really looking forward to my next treatment which will be this week or next week depending how I’m going. I think you should definitely try it !

Idk if i could do this to help my anxiety and depression. Unfortunately, when i get this kinda feeling it would actually cause MORE anxiety. My mind and body knows this “feeling” isn’t normal and it activates the “fight or flight” .... the only thing that has helped me in the past, is Xanax. Which doctors hate giving. Even Marijuana makes me have more anxiety. Idk what to do.

I can’t imagine trying to carry on a conversation during my treatment. It’s not that I can’t, it’s just that I don’t get out of my head if I had to do that. I appreciate the “high” feeling and the ability to stop worrying and have this magical “dream” like atmosphere going on. Immediately afterwards I felt amazing and stayed that way for a couple of days until my next treatment. I’m taking Ketamine sublingually so maybe it has a different effect or hits different than infusion?

I don't understand this either, she should have closed her eyes and went to "sleep". Enjoy the ride! She's awake the whole time? Defeats the whole purpose of the healing process. Hopefully next time she's resting and laying back.

I watched this before i went in for my first time yesterday. I was in for a shock. They must not have given you very much. I could not function or hardly talk, Most of the time i felt like i was just a head with no body. I got panicked at one point because i could not feel myself breath. Im still debating if i liked it or not. I came home still feeling like i was drunk. Slept the rest of the day away. Then today did not feel quite right. I seemed to have an issue connecting the words i wanted to use with my mouth, And i stuttered some. I felt in a daze all day today. I also am a bit upset with the setup they had. Just a big hospital area with curtains. On a hard bed and too much noise. worker pushing carts of stuff past my bed. At one point the dr and nurse were standing at the table at the end of my bed and he was talking about the baby he just had, and showing her pictures, They were trying to decide what part of the baby looked like what parent. I said congrats, but i was irritated. At no point did i feel like i could relax.

I just took my first treatment and was able to stay a wake and watch ocean life on Netflix which was really peaceful. It was very pleasant, I felt happy and was amazed with all of the sea creatures. I did feel like I was “frozen” and that my eyes were looking at things but they were disconnected from my body. It was a pleasant experience overall, I get my dose increased next treatment.

My doctor asked me to bring an eye mask and turned off the lights. I wouldn’t have wanted it any different but obviously everyone is different. Also asked me to bring headphones and music (instrumental/no words) that I would like to listen to as well as a blanket. I was warm and snug, chillin to music and on my first trip.

I suffer from anxiety & depression and am beat up from it. I know everyone is different but I am wondering do you think the effects will last over time? As in, you do x amount of treatments and move on or do you think it is something that has to be done moving forward with gaps of time in-between? Basically after x sessions do you feel like you will no longer have to go back for infusions?
@vannawinters2776
@vannawinters2776 4 жыл бұрын
TheK2TheC479 hi, thank you for the questions. The research I have done and the specialists in this field I have spoken to all cite that the initial series, the six to ten infusions with in two to three weeks are the stabilization. You’ll need to maintain the remission of symptoms by receiving “booster” infusions. The space between boosters gradually becomes longer. But you will need to continue to have infusions to maintain recovery. Routine maintenance gives you the best prognosis- each patient’s routine maintenance needs will vary. I did the six infusions. Four weeks later I had my booster. Six weeks after I had my second. I’m hoping to continue to see the spacing grow until it’s once or twice a year.

There should have been no one in the room. She was defeating her purpose by talking to whoever she was talking to. She should have had eyeshield on and allow herself to drift off so she could identify with her problems. By constantly talking she wasn't really allowing the medicine to take effect the way it was supposed to work..

Everyone experiences the medication a little differently. I've watched almost five hundred infusions now as I work at the clinic where I received my treatment. Most patients describe their experience as calming- going into a dream-like state. Some experience dissociation- visually seeing memories. None have expressed panic or fright from it-more so a sense of peace and finality. Coming out of the sedation many patients feel loopy or groggy. Best wishes in your treatment course. Please keep me updated on your journey!
