When I was at UF and after graduating (MS in Mechanical Engineering), I developed a habit of hiking from the Southwest Rec Center to Reitz Union via the path near Lake Alice. I always enjoyed the campus scenery and chance of seeing a live "gator" in the lake. As for running, that campus half marathon in February was spectacular. It started by the Southwest Rec Center and veered north of campus along a range of hills then back to the stadium and to the lake. The race was very popular when I was there. As for medicine, I am a biomedical engineer with an MPH and had considered medical school when I was younger in CO. I took anatomy lab with the medical students at Denver Health Sciences Center and used the classic Netters book. Medicine is ridiculously time consuming in medical school. The financial earnings have also changed since the 1980s when fee-for-service was prevalent. Now, with healthcare reform, capitation and long-term training without pay, the actual salary is not very high. The need is for primary care but a lot of medical students choose eROAD specialities. It used to be that slots were always available but now every year some graduates don't get matched. With COVID-19, there is a lot of burnout with physicians leaving the field. I'd recommend double-checking on medicine to see why those physicians are leaving. There are plenty of blogs, articles, etc. Allied health offers quicker options. If I had to do it over, I would have done a PhD in Clinical Translational Sciences instead of trying for medical school. UF has a great CTS program, Epidemiology, PA, etc. I now work at Medtronic. Go Gators!

The problem is that when the exams are nothing like the homework problems, the practice exam isn't enough to save you.
