I loved this video. All y'all have such a wonderful life together. One particular scene really caught my eye. Tipper, it was when you looked up at Matt when he was sampling your kraut. You looked up at him with such a look of love and adoration, it melted my heart. You two really are such a loving couple. It is so obvious and quite a wonder to behold. May the Lord continue to bless y'all. Thanks for sharing with us glimpses of your remarkable life in Appalachia.

I love how you started and ended this video with the dark sky and the bugs singing! The whole video was great! From chocolate gravy for breakfast, to eating ground cherries as you pick them, the fermented cabbage, and the fermented corn. I absolutely love hearing the girls’ music whether they are playing in the garage or onstage, or anywhere else. I laughed when you said that you get to the fermented cabbage to put it up when the mood hits you. That is my motto for getting a lot of things done, too. I know we are not supposed to live our lives by emotions - what we feel that day - but it is so hard for me, being a free spirit, not to base my day on what my heart sings to do. I’ve still got some growing up to do, I guess! My parent’s had a tree in their front yard all my life until a couple of years ago, that I never knew what it was called. I loved that tree. When you described the balls from the sweet gum tree, I thought “that’s what the tree was!!”. I just looked it up - and yes, it was a sweet gum tree! When my parents were getting ready to have it and several other trees in their yards cut down, I went over and gathered up a basket of the balls and now display them in a bowl in my dining room. Thank you for that tidbit in your video! In the video when you were braiding Corie’s hair, at first I thought it was some other little girl, not Corie. It made me think of when I was little and of my mom brushing and combing my hair, then braiding it or styling it other ways. She would use a detangler spray on my hair before she started. I had long hair to just above my hips until I was a senior in high school, then midway through that year, I cut it off to shoulder length. I have grown it long off and on since then, and right now I am letting it grow long again. It is getting to the point where it is a pain to comb the tangles out. Yesterday I remembered about the detangler spray my mom used. My sister, a friend of mine, and I spent the day in another city about an hour from me, shopping today. We had lunch at a nice Mexican restaurant, and had a great day yakking and shopping. I was looking for detangling spray, but couldn’t find it. Then I thought maybe it would be in the children’s department of a store, and sure enough it was! Seeing you fixing Corie’s hair reminded me of when I was little, and also hunting for that spray today. Not that it was important to mention, but you know me and my rambling around rabbit trails off subject! Thank you for this great video of many wonderful things! I loved all the scenery of the outdoors in it! Donna. : )

Watching you snap green beans took me back to when I was a kid, my granny Haley would send me out to the garden and pick a bucket full then she would wash them off and start snapping them (I can still smell them fresh beans)and as she did she would tell me stories about when she was a little girl. I could sit and listen to her stories all day.

@@rowdybroomstick1216 Good Morning, Rowdy! I just want to make a small correction to your comment. I am from San Diego, born and raised there, - Pelosi is in San Francisco, those poor people. I love San Diego, but am glad to be out of the state of California right now. I moved out 5 years ago. I don’t know if there is any hope for that state anymore. There are many, many good conservative people throughout California. But the voting is decided mainly in a thin part of the state that happens to have the majority of the population. It is sad. I just wanted to let you know that not all Californians are like Pelosi and her nephew Newsome. Saying governor before his name makes me choke, so I won’t. And I usually keep my political opinion off the internet, but my family, friends, and the way I vote get to hear it! Donna : )

I enjoy it so much when you identify trees and plants that grow near your home. You've taught me some that I didn't know. I enjoyed watching you braid Corie's hair Tipper. I saw some other comments here of others who were reminded of their Moms doing their hair. My Mom used to tightly pin curl my hair every night because my hair is straight as a poker and she was always trying to give me curls like the other girls in my class. Never worked, the curls might stay for a couple hours then gradually my hair just went back to it's poker straight state. I thought you all sounded great at the music festival. Happy belated birthday Cori and Katie! 🎂🎁🎈

My dad was dutch and he couldn't stand sauerkraut from the store here - - - he said they fermented it with butter milk where he grew up, I make it with lots of heads of green cabbage and one purple cabbage so it turns out pink, I put green peppers, fennel, and fresh dill then add Kiefer that I make from my goats milk to ferment it -it takes 3 to 5 days, my favorite,. Your food looks really yummy and pretty to boot/I learn stuff watching you in your garden, I love it that you grow sugar baby melons, when I was a teen I grew all the Mellons for my family and sugar babies where my favorite, that dolls eye grows here but some times its a pretty pink color!

Couldn't figure out what you were making right at the beginning and then when you added to Cocoa why new right away. Sweet gum balls are said to be in a viral I've been trying to look around here for some haven't been able to find them oh I wish you could send me one of them saplings. Thought there used to be one in the neighborhood but sure can't find it now. The algorithm brought me here and the content and memories it invoked kept me watching. Both sides of my family are from Appalachia. One side from the mountains of southwestern Virginia and the other form the hills of upper east Tennessee. Plenty of coal miners, moonshiners, and good cooks on both sides. Hard working, honest, and God fearing salt of the earth folks. I have so many memories from my childhood of going to visit folks up in the "hollers". Good food, good conversation, hunting, fishing, foraging, farming, etc etc. I could tell stories for days about their struggles and experiences.

I’ve just found your channel today, and I love your videos! They remind me of when I was a little girl living in West Texas. Makes me miss shelling peas, making pies, or canning veggies with my Mimi. She’s still with us. I’ve just moved away and now only get to do things like this when I go home for the holidays. Thank you for making this channel. It brings back peaceful memories from childhood 🥰

The hearts-a-busting Katie is showing is what we used to call iron wood. The stem is very hard to cut and almost impossible to break. Try it! My vacuum bag kraut turned out fine. It is milder in flavor but a little too salty for me so I rinse it in a sieve. Last night I fried up some Polish sausage and then added some of the kraut and let it stream for a few minutes. Man, that is some good eating! The only thing missing was cornbread. I have some I had made several days ago that I thought would be good but It has started growing mold. You can't win 'em all! The quiet night sounds, free from civilization's noise, are your most valuable asset. The sounds of waters tumbling over moss carpeted rocks are worth more than all the gold in the world and God gave them to us for free.

My ancestors immigrated to Western NC on the great wagon road from Virginia, Delaware, and points north. Like so many other Scots-Irish coming to the new world searching for land and freedom. I know the area of Rabun county Ga. and points north of Clayton Ga. too. Your area is so familiar. Lush and green! Ancestry is fascinating to me. Culture, Customs and Traditions are so important so thanks for keeping Appalachia’s alive! Hey from Atlanta

Good video. When the video first started and the crickets were chirping I kept waiting to hear a Whiporwill sound off! The kraut is very "Wangy", I had to laugh when you said that! I aint heard nobody use that term in a while! It must be good and Wangy cause Matt's a wanting fifty jars of it! You girls sure play pretty music together. My wife made your Apple cake recipe today and it's so good I like to have foundered on it! I ate five pieces and two quart jars of milk! YUM! YUM! YUM! YUM! YUM!
