They are NOT “Gangsters” in Broadmoor! It’s a HOSPITAL for the criminally insane. They are very sick individuals who need to be locked-up for other peoples safety & (more often) their own safety!! They’re the complete opposite of “cool gangsters” to the loved ones of their victims!! 🙄

Definitely the maddest interview I’ve seen. So raw and authentic…. And very real. I hope the man finds peace through his /family/friends/ and his faith Islam. I wish him all the strength towards positivity. What a story, what a character. Very intriguing. All the best.

Classic interview with somebody I personally spent time in prison with him and Shortman were the funniest set of people I met during my sentence glad to see you back on road prison was never for him he just always needed the right Support

How many young persons are affected by their mothers being abused. It’s fucking terrible.

Actually, a team of neurologists spent 4 decades interviewing inmates who had committed serious crimes in every prison in the US to try and find the root cause of why they ended up there. Turns out the common denominator for their lives of crime was directly related to trauma from their relationships with their mothers e.g physical and mental abuse, abandonment or lack of attention/love.

@Harmony May flawed study what they are probably not saying is all the people they studied were from broken homes. So forget relationship with their mom's as the mom's were all under pressure from raising kids without father present.

I love your podcasts so much but this is by far my favourite. Are you able to interview more people that have stories involving mental health or experiences inside Broadmoor or other psychiatric facilities? I've been in psych wards 9 times (low-no security) and I have met the most amazing, intelligent, interesting people who have incredible stories and listening to lived experiences of mental health disorders is so captivating and interesting :)

Man's on a different level,I had to watch this one again because there was so much I missed, I don't think anyone could do a interview as good as this,if Ovie goes on anyone else's podcast they will just copy this,James has the balls to ask the hard questions that without a great personality you might get punched in the head.No one's doing it looks like James English really like his content but more importantly I like him, keep smashing it love from London and Dublin X

That's a bit judgemental. He knows he has to take his meds and how to manage his Condition, you can't for ever judge people on what they have done, these people need a chance to reintegrate into society. Not just label them by a medical condition they are unfortunate to be afflicted with. However i do agree with the fucked up prison system comment

Great conversation and both of you come out of this well. I was born and raised just 2 miles from Brixton and lived the first 29 years of my life there pre-mass immigration and the area was Middle Class (hence much of the original architecture) and very safe. I, frequently, walked home around 3am/4am on my own for 2 mileswithout a care in the world. There IS one particular disconcerting and worrying point though in that Ovie never, financially, needed to commit any crime(the usual explanation for criminality is, of course, coming from an impoverished home) and yet he STILL chose to do so...I could write a small book about my 67 years of experience in South East London but those stories/anecdotes/vignettes are for another day :)

Very truthful and polite. How switched on he is. He put the eye ball in his mouth and James moves on to next question. I'm laughing my head off. Anyone disses him and it affects him. Confidence with women is a big factor.

Just going through James's Podcasts as I work from home. Ovi's story.... wow ... what can I say? Great interview James....you make it look so seamless now.... seen other people do podcasts and they just take over the interview and I come away not feeling like I got to know the person they were interviewing.
