My mother had stage 4 malignant melanoma when she was pregnant with me. This was in 1975, so the treatment options were minimal. They sent her to UCLA and did all they could with grafts and removing lymph nodes in her neck. They told her to go home and get her affairs in order. She prayed to God to help her because she had a new baby. I am happy to tell you that with no treatment, no hope she is still here at 77 years-old. She is a walking miracle and I will be praying for you, your babies, your husband.🙏💛

Proof? Or is that what your mom just told you. If it was stage 4 it spread beyond lymph nodes. Where else did it spread to, and what documentation do you have for this?

I am so sorry but not very likely as stage 4 goes to the lymph nodes and the liver and the lungs and the brain. Even with minimal treatment available in 2007 my mom did not survive. They have advanced treatment lately but in 1970 in 1970s I doubt that happened I'm sorry

I’m 79, my Melanoma was diagnosed when I was 33! I was in our pool swimming with my girlfriend, she says hold still you have something on your back, she came over, sucked in her breath and says omg it’s a mole. For the next few months they were on my case to see a doctor. When I finally did he did the biopsy that same day, and I asked to see it and he had dug pretty deep there were pieces of tissue hanging down in strips. The results came back in two two weeks, the day school was out for Christmas holidays, the doctors office called and said the doctor wanted to see me on Monday. I said no, obviously the news is not good and I shouldn’t be made to wait and worry through the weekend, so he got on the phone and told me, I went in Monday, and he recommended a surgeon to me whom I went to see that same week and had surgery on 12-27. I had two young school aged children and one pre schooler. I had a lot of reasons to live. I should say that I have never once had a tan, but what I did have was many blistering sunburns as a child. I was cured of melanoma via surgery. But…..I’ve still been battling skin cancer for 46 years, I have never left the dermatologist office without leaving a part of me. I have had cancer surgery on every part of my body except for my head and feet. On 8-18-22 I’m going in for another biopsy on my forehead, I don’t need a biopsy to tell me it’s malignant, after 46 years I’ve no problem getting that right, I just don’t know how to pinpoint which cancer it is. One other thing, if anyone is suspicious about a spot on their body may be cancerous if it itches non stop, it is cancer. Everyone of the malignant cancers I’ve had itched non stop, once cancer is removed the itching stops. Best wishes to all that suffer with this horrific disease, I hope that you can be cured and go on to live a full and happy life. God bless.

Meredith, remember me, the guy who told you that I and my wife would pray for you? We are doing that. But long story short, in watching these videos and talking to my wife we determined she needed to go to the dermatologist for a spot on her forearm. She got the path back today and has melanoma. She goes back tomorrow for more excision. If it weren't for these videos we likely wouldn't have had the discussion about seeing a dermatologist until months later. She noticed changes but hadn't had any particular symptoms from the lesion on her arm.

I’ve gone 2 years with no evidence of disease after being treated for Stage 3c colorectal cancer. The scanxiety is no fun. I’ve followed several channels of people who have documented their cancer experiences. I’ve left a few comments along the way. What amazes me is when total strangers respond to my comments in very positive and supportive ways and tell me they will be praying for me. I truly believe prayer is powerful and helpful. Despite the horrors of American politics, there is a lot of goodness and good people in this country. All you have to do is read the comments on channels such as yours. I wish you the best with the rest of your treatments. You are a wonderful mother.

I totally agree, generally people can be kind. What kind of treatment did you have to have with stage 3c colorectal cancer? How was it staged or what is considered 3c? Going through the colon wall?
@roch145
@roch145 Жыл бұрын
@@tammyslaughter9587 For treatment I had 6 months of IV FOLFOX chemo, then 6 weeks of radiation and oral chemo, then an 8 hour surgery called Low Anterior Resection to remove the tumor which also left me with a temporary ileostomy. Waited 9 months then had another surgery to reverse the ileostomy. It’s been a long process. Unfortunately after my first surgery my wife said she wanted a divorce. So it’s been an emotional and physical process. For staging , 3C means the tumor has grown through the wall of rectum/colon as well as having cancerous cells in 7 or more lymph nodes. But no tumor spread to distant organs.
@tammyslaughter9587

@@roch145 thank you so much for sharing, and I’m so sorry your wife left after the surgery when you needed someone the most, it’s so sad but some people just can’t handle the devastating affects of cancer. I truly hope you’re doing well! I was wondering the difference between treatments of stage 3c colon cancer and stage 4 colon cancer. I was diagnosed with stage 4 which had metastasized significantly to my liver, and 27 lymph nodes. I did 6 months of oral (Xeloda) chemo, around 30 sessions of radiation, then had surgery to remove the tumor and ileostomy, about 5 weeks later had surgery to remove the whole right lobe of my liver, 27 lymph nodes removed, gall bladder removed and ileostomy reversal. Did a few more months of chemo and then I was NED. It definitely is a tough journey but it was worth it. I pray you had a complete recovery and living a good healthy life now!

@@tammyslaughter9587 I’m glad to hear you had such a good response to your treatment. Stage IV is certainly a scary diagnosis. I’m surprised your chemo was oral Xeloda and not some IV chemo. Thank for your prayers and well wishes.

I then demanded a biopsy and then it came back Stage 4 metastasis. It was every where. I had a year of immunotherapy and I am alive. I had little lumps popping up everywhere. I had a 60 percent survival rate. I was dying literally . You will survive. I am with you.

She was lucky that one of the tumors was so superficial. When melanoma is first diagnosed, it is in the form of an irregular multicolored skin lesion that may bleed or change in size quickly. But , metastasis through the blood stream and lymph system causes “tumors” or masses that can be found anywhere and everywhere that cause no symptoms. In fact, had it not been for the side lump, she would never have known she was in trouble. Sometimes unexplained weight loss is the first sign of a recurrence, but by then it’s often too late.

Meredith, you responded to me yesterday saying you were going to post this "update" video. I was on pins and needles and then you indicated that the treatment was working to arrest the progression of the disease. I absolutely wish the best for you and your family. I've watched many of these videos now and watched one last night of a man from Canada who had misdiagnosed "lumps" in the back of his neck. Upon getting the correct diagnosis they gave him a combination of medications that shrunk the tumors and he is living a very normal life now. If you want my wife and I will pray for you. Your kids are beautiful as are you!

Sending love & prayers from California. My niece (23 yrs old) had stage 2b Melanoma this year on her thigh. I remember My sister stopping by & just crying & I asked her what's wrong. ..& she said my niece had stage 2 cancer/melanoma. We are all still shocked. My mom had melanoma on her arm & recently lost a lot of weight, even though her scans are clear..we are very concerned.. My heart goes out to you. You have a beautiful family & are so young. Thank u for sharing your journey. I had no idea it could come back as a lump. I stumbled upon your channel today. I have been following Tiffany Thinks Colon Cancer journey & your story popped up. Hi Meredith, thank you so much for sharing your story, it means so much to us, my sister and me as she is fighting melanoma stage 4 in Russia. She had stage 1.5 at 21 and was told to never get pregnant by Russian doctors. It breaks my heart that I brought her to NY for second opinion and NYU doctor said she can have a pregnancy after 5 years based on same article or study that was brought up to you re 5 years “almost safe” mark. She got pregnant 6 years after original diagnosis, pregnancy AND Brest feeding triggered stage 4. There was no moll and no lump and no issues with lymph. It went straight to occupy 50% of liver, tiny spot in lungs and 2 mt in brain. She is on Opdivo/Yervoy and also got super sick after second, was in ICU. She must continue both because Yervoy is known to be more for brain, I believe. She is having a good week now. Consider doing MRI as often as possible, adding Yervoy maybe sometimes and look into New York Sloan Kettering 24 melanoma trials, there is a possibility they will find a 100% cure soon there because they just found one for rectal cancer via immuno therapy. Thank you again for sharing your story, we feel less alone. We will be cheering for your full recovery.

@@Meredith_Feira Thank you so much! I haven’t researched the connection yet with IVF, however, melanoma seems to be connected to estrogen. Melanoma seems to be ultra dangerous during pregnancy because immune system drops to prevent itself from attacking a genetically different body inside of a woman. I believe that 5 year recommendation was not made on any particular study, because research is non existent in relation what are the odds exactly of having it returned during pregnancy. If I am right it makes sense to alert health authorities. Pregnancy triggered ovarian, breast and melanoma survivors have 60% lower chance of survival compare to non pregnancy triggered.

Hello! Just found your channel! Are you still a SAHM? I just wanted to tell you that it's one of the hardest jobs in the world and I really admire you. I did it for 5 years and it was harder than any job that I've ever had..and I've had some pretty/stressful demanding jobs. I always felt underappreciated and like nobody realized how much work I was actually doing everyday... even though I wasn't getting paid. It's a 24/7 job with no sick time or days off. When you spoke about your mother-in-law helping with the kids, it made me emotional. So many people don't understand how much work they require or that you would even need help. You have to take care of yourself even when you're so conditioned to ignore your own needs. I am so happy that she recognized that and offered to help you. I'm so glad that I've found your channel. Much love and hugs from SC😊🤗💙

Hi Kristi! I am still a SAHM, and it is SO much work. So grateful that I’m able to stay home with my kids, but i have learned to lean on other people when I need to. Sometimes that’s easier said than done. And it took everything in me to ask for my MIL’s help that day. But it was 100% necessary. I’m lucky I had someone to help me! I know not everyone is so lucky. My father had a mole on his chest in 1969, my mother didn’t like how it looked and nagged him to see a doctor. I just remembered them saying the doctor didn’t even want to press on his chest for fear that could cause metastasis. That’s why melanoma is so deadly it readily metastasizes from primary site to lung bone and other organs potentially. They performed the equivalent of a radical mastectomy which took his pectoral muscle down past the rib cage over his heart. They grafted skin over the cave they carved in his chest. If his shirt was off you could count his pulse from feet away just watching the base of that cave. He used to wear t shirts to swim after that and he got in the habit of keeping his checkbook in his shirt pocket protecting his heart from a blow. He died of natural causes from a progressive incurable pulmonary fibrosis thought to have been caused by a drug he’d been given for his heart. He didn’t want radiation or chemo which is why they did such a radical (certainly by todays standards) surgery. He wasn’t ready to leave and still had aspirations but like all of us we don’t get to pick how and when we die. He taught me so many wise things. In that I carry him with me always. So you may need more interventions. Know the wisdom your life is showing you. There aren’t ever any guarantees.
