Yea, this thing isn't even a safety feature, its some kind of way to make the pump run less. But I'm not sure why that would even matter, as there are return lines, (in case of over delivery) and the pump already has a built in adjustable pressure switch on it.

Yup, took it right out of the loop. I was going to try using the oem wiring, but as it turns out, one of the wires leading to the pump was eaten up by black wire corrosion. So my relay might actually be good. I assumed it had bad internal contacts, as it was only passing about six bolts, but then I saw the wire going into the switched side was only receiving that voltage…..when I wired the pump with new wires direct to the battery, it fired up like the day it was born. It won’t overdrive as it’s a pressure regulated on demand unit that doesn’t need any of that overly complex crap. My best guess, is that it’s part of some convoluted emissions setup from the 90’s.

Thanks again, I changed the fuel pump and the filter. I have a 93 Suzuki. I cut the old fuel filter open and it looked like mud. Anyway checked the power and found none, so I rewired it like you showed. Like Willie Nelson says, I’m on the road again. Thanks x10!

Mine is still running just fine with out all of that extra junk, and I’m not noticing any kind of issues that might be considered detrimental. Do you have a clear filter like mine, or a solid one?

@@JimsEquipmentShed - Running the fuel pump directly off the ignition switch will almost certainly result in contact wear in the ignition switch. Hopefully, the electrical portion of the ignition switch is easy to change and a readily available part. You might want to try wiring the fuel pump relay back into the circuit with the new non-corroded wire to the fuel pump. If the fuel pump relay is actually bad, you should also be able to wire in a SPST ice cube relay to save the ignition switch, losing whatever timer function was provided by the original fuel pump relay module.
