Oh my goodness thank you! I ordered a bare minerals heavenly flattop makeup brush thinking it was the goat hair one, but I ended up getting the synthetic brush😢 I will return this brush because I don't like synthetic brushes :(

Oh no! Unfortunately I don't think bareminerals makes any natural hair brushes anymore, and I don't love the flat top synthetic brushes I've tried from them. You can find the natural hair bareminerals brushes second hand pretty easily if you are comfortable with that. I love the Sonia G Face One/ Buffer Pro, but I know that one is very pricey. I've learned the hard way that using a good brush with bareminerals is VERY important and can really change how the product applies.

@blathering. thank you so much and you are totally right hun! I love goat hair brushes and God spare life would like to grow a good collection! I hear tons of good reviews about Sonia G, do you think any of her brushes are compatible with liquid foundation? Also May I ask how do you wash your brushes? I brought a cheap goat hair set from OVW brushes and I noticed them breaking(?) Im not sure if the goat hair was so strained in the chemical process that it's breaking, or if it's shedding from the ferrule because it wasn't glued too good! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your brushes I will watch your other videos from a newbie enthusiast :D

@blathering. also agreed I ended up getting the same exact synthetic bareminerals you have and it's pretty awful! I didn't see it was synthetic because in the photo it was still in the package. I bidded on it and won, but at what cost 😭

@@dezzid.2558 So, I would recommend looking for reviews from people who use liquid foundation (I only use powder foundation), but if you really want fude to use for cream/liquid products, take a look at Sonia G's fusion line (mix of synthetic and goat hair). I have two concealer brushes from this line and the bristles are fantastic for cream and okay for liquid. (I rarely use them though since the shapes don't work for me.) Whenever I have tried using brushes that are only goat hair (e.g. Rephr) for cream or liquid, I have to use a lot of product (the hair tends to absorb the product) and the finish can be approximated with good synthetic brushes imo. Also, washing cream or liquid products out of goat hair is such a pain. In general, if you are using mostly cream or liquid products, I think that synthetic brushes are going to serve your needs better and at a lower price point. Maybe have a look at your makeup collection - What kinds of products do you usually use? Cream, liquid, powder? Make sure you are choosing good quality brushes for the products you are using. I'd really recommend looking at higher end synthetic brushes for liquid foundation - like BK beauty (my friend has these and loves them), Pat McGrath (I have and LOVE her concealer brush) or even Sephora pro brushes (good for the price point, not so good if you are sensitive to bristles poking you). There are probably many other good quality synthetic brands that I just don't know about. As for washing, I just use whatever shampoo I'm using usually. If you are using products that are harder to clean off of the bristles (cream, liquid), you might need something a little harsher. Unfortunately, if you find the brushes shedding continuously, there isn't really a way to fix it. It just means they are lower quality or use lower quality materials. Hope this helps!

New subscriber here & really enjoying your content. How do you find the Yano 02 large powder brush compares to the Kiwami powder brush in terms of functionality & softness? I have the Kiwami brush & love it as it's so airy & luxurious but I can pat, swipe & swirl due the shape which you can't do with most large powder beushes.

Thank you so much - I'm so happy you are enjoying these videos. I hope you find them helpful 🥰 I love both my Yano 02 and Kiwami KK001, but I generally use them for different things. Softness: I think both have very similar softness although the Kiwami is noticeably more airy (or it at least feels less dense) and the bristles have less strength and more flow. The Yano does not feel any more rough on my face, but the goat bristles do seem to give the brush a tiny bit more stiffness that allows for a bit of buffing power (not a lot, but more than the Kiwami). This can be nice for blending in a more glowy or pigmented powder, especially in the cheek area, and this is why I prefer the Yano for highlight and blush and reserve the Kiwami for only finishing powder. Functionality: I use them both mostly for hourglass powders for finishing. However, I will generally use the Kiwami for all over powder while I use the Yano for adding a diffuse glow on just my cheeks - almost like a subtle highlight. You could try to use the Yano for all over powder, but I find that its shape lends itself best to be used on the flatter planes of the face (cheeks, forehead) rather than giving an even distribution of powder everywhere (especially in the nooks and crannies of the face). I actually end up using the Yano more often than the Kiwami since the Yano is my preferred brush for diffuse application of cheek products. I will use it when I am going for a diffuse application of blush or highlight or finishing powder on the cheeks. I usually do not gravitate towards face brushes with a pinched ferrule since I find them limited and too directional, but this one just applies cheek products so nicely. Overall, I think the Kiwami is best for laying down all over finishing powder but I personally do not prefer it for things like blush and highlight as I like to buff those two in a little bit. I love how this brush just dances over all the planes and narrow parts of the face. I really have a thing for big fluffy brushes that can still reach the smaller parts of my face. Sorry for the novel! Hope this is helpful 🥰
