Something I have been doing lately is writing down when I open items or use them. I have a whiteboard on the fridge so it is helping me see what items I should be using first when it comes to produce, milk, etc

Very good tips! I do freeze leftovers for a later date, hate wasting food, and I have 7 grocery stores that I shop at every two weeks, I have been doing this for years, different prices, products, etc. I love saving, it’s feels like a Win!

I’ve recently started freezing food or fixing the protein a different way (maybe adding a different sauce) and adding different sides. My husband is not a fan of leftovers. But, if I give it a different flavor and different sides, he will eat it. Because what we’re NOT doing in 2024 is wasting this food, sir!!😂 I’m loving this series, Shakayla! ❤

Also for me - to save money - I only buy real food: fresh vegetables and fruit. I also buys nuts, seeds, fresh herbs and grains but I stay clear of anything in a box or package. Doing so is a win win for me and wallet + health.

I need to follow your advice because I have things piled on top of one another in my freezer and don't even know what's at the bottom, but I can go to the grocery store so many times a week! And - you look so pretty!

That is so funny, I told my husband at beginning of year I'm going to clean my big freezer, take an inventory and make a list and tap to the outside of freezer and we can check off when we take something out. And I set a budget for food and entertainment, I just went over by $10 this week!

I love your content. I started before the end of 2023, saving on groceries. I started freezing cilantro (info on youtube) freezing lemons and limes (on youtube), jucing some and freezing the juice in small silicone trays. I prepare several meals in the beginnning of the week at one time and freeze a couple of servings so that on the weekend I don't have to cook.

My biggest thing has been food waste and trying to minimize it in 2024. I would buy a ton of fresh food and it would go to waste because I would be tired to cook or honestly not have a taste for it anymore. So I’m grateful for these tips Shakayla thank you! I already make it a routine of making a list (&checking it twice) on Sundays before shopping cause I had like four cranberry juices for no reason lol

I'm so bad about planning my meals but at the same time, I don't usually make a fuss about my meals. For example, I had no idea what I was going to eat for dinner today. I had some rice and put some kimchi on top. That was enough for me.

We definitely be going to like 3 or 4 different stores lol I’d say we started doing that maybe 2 years ago This vid is going to be a go to rewatch everytime it’s time for me to go grocery shopping for sure! B/c I definitely get overwhelmed thinking about “what vegetables do I need? What protein do I want? Do I need protein this week? What carbs do I want to go with the protein?” … smh It’s a cycle lol I’m just so grateful for your videos. XO Shakayla! 🤗💗

A few things that work for me are: >Meal planning >Shopping with a list >Freeze leftovers like soups or beans >Shop at dollar tree for lentils or snacks I live alone so sometimes I end up with too much food. I usually shop at Walmart since I can check prices and inventory on their app.

Having a budget is also a good way to keep one in check, you try to find buy things that fit within that budget you avoid buying buying cute little things you see at the health food store . Also using frozen veggies and fruit (especially berries) for soups, stews and smoothies and they're affordable especially if you struggle to get small portions for fresh produce at the grocery stores

You probably saw my hand raised from New Orleans. LOL I am focusing on meal prepping this year. Also, using a meal plan prep sheet to help me stay on task. I was able to get most of fruits and vegetables from the farmer's market. It is open every Saturday from 9 AM until 2 PM. This will definitely help me to save more money. Great tips and ideas

Another awesome video beautiful Shakayla and i shop mainly in Tesco, Aldi and Lidl with the occasional shop in other discount retailers. Yes, it is a struggle to get budget friendly groceries and save money but it's not impossible as this video and my recent £20 Food challenge at Aldi shows. Love 💞 Shakayla.

Hello beautiful lady! Yes, inventory and meal planning is key. And you're correct about the organic stores. They're waayy too expensive. I will no longer shop at Sprouts for fruit. They have a small selection and it's over priced.

A tip I have is to have the weekly deals/coupons navigate my weekly meal planning. Maybe the grocery store has spinach on sale so that week I'll use spinach when I want dark leafy greens. If I wanted white potatoes but sweet potatoes are on sale I'll swap that as well. The good thing about this is not only do you save money but the produxe they put on sale is usually seasonal items and so they are on sale bc their supply is so high at the moment. Also if a non-perishable item is on sale you buy constantly like rice or beans stock up! Don't go broke or shop for the apocalypse but you know what I mean. Lastly, shop the bulk foods aisle if your grocery store has one. At my grocery store the cheapest bag of regular white rice is I think $1.25 for a 1 lb bag but in the bulk foods aisle I get it for $.70. Might sound like just 55 cents but that adds up over a year and when money is a finite resource I ain't about to play with mine lol.

I have to get back to my roots! 😂 But for real lately going shopping is getting harder since I’m in my third trimester so hubby has to come or things we can order for delivery will be it- that also has helped. Ordering for delivery since I tend to search for what I need & add to cart versus browsing.
