Confirm: in Italy wedding guests DO NOT PAY FOR ANYTHING , they only bring a wedding gift. In fact, it is incredibly RUDE to make your GUESTS pay. 'Guest' means everything is on the host of the event. That lie was strange.

Really, doesn't anyone accusing OP's parents watch the video until the end? The parents definitely didn't take her sister trying to kill her as a joke, that's why they never leave them alone together and put the sister in therapy for many years. They're not enabling her madness, just that the sister was good enough to even fool her therapist and psychologist. And there was no golden child there, just a mother who was mentally weak and unstable that made her prone to being manipulated. The parents having equal savings for all their children showed that. The mother went with the sister wishes only because she was guilt-tripped and manipulated, not out of favoritism. The way she didn't really defend what she did and immediately followed her husband's decision showed that she actually knew she was wrong and didn't really want to do that. And the father didn't even know anything and immediately tried to make it right when he knew the truth, how anyone could call that favoritism is beyond me 😮‍💨 the parents had their flaws, but they were nothing like many of you accused them.

Wow, was not expecting a whole BPD stigma tirade in this. Just to be clear, what the commenter said about BPD was wrong. What they are describing is more like NPD aka narcissistic personality disorder. Can BPD people display these traits? Of course, they are part of the same personality disorder cluster, and in fact most people display one or two traits of narcissism and it's perfectly healthy. But you're more likely to see a borderline have a panic attack and threaten to hurt themselves to get a parent to stay than you would to see them try to suffocate the "competition". Narcissists manipulate with calculated, malicious intent, while borderlines manipulate out of fight-or-flight desperation. Neither are okay, but perpetuating the rumor that borderlines are manipulative and dangerous makes getting them help even harder to accomplish.

Sister is actually insane. Manipulating your mother like that to get 100k for a wedding (Which is ENTIRELY too much money for a fucking wedding) and then making your bridesmaid pay 2.6k+ just on "Bridal responsibilities", making them lose weight and maintain their hair like a control freak, and then the nerve to charge your guest $150 to attend the wedding (not to mention this is probably going to be a destination wedding where they gotta pay for plane tickets, hotels, rental cars, etc.)
