- Ep.87: Family of 4 living in a small semi-basement in Incheon for the last 2 years.
This place, where you can hear mix of both Korean and Arabic, is the home for Joseph’s family.
The family was threatened after their father, the Iraqi police, helped out a Christian friend.
After their father fled to Australia, the threat worsened for the rest of the family.
So their mother, Yusra, tried to take her three kids to Australia.
However, at the Australian airport they were denied entry.
As there was nowhere to go, their mother chose what she thought to be the safest country, Korea.
Sudden parting and visa problems ripped apart the family.
Their father sends some money from Australia by working at a construction site.
But to raise three children in Korea, it’s not enough.
When the money is delayed, Yusra’s worry just keeps getting bigger.

I started crying when she started crying and her daughter comforted her, damn its really hard for her to be in a foreign country without being fluent in korean and raising 3 kids while on a strict budget, hope everything works out well for her and her family, those kids' futures are promising. fighting!!

I was so deeply touched. The fact that this proud woman, who used to be the principal head teacher of a school in Iraq, have to wash the dishes and sell vegetables in order to have her children fed, educated and clothed properly is a sad yet powerful moment to watch. I wish the best for this family and every single person currently struggling in a foreign country. May God bless them all!

Yes, she's probably very intelligent by nature and educated, but is struggling with Korean. She now has to work for people who she is probably smarter than. I've been in that position, it's humiliating/humbling.

Her son that complained about her Korean skills should understand that they're kids and learning a new language will be easier for the than for a middle-aged, stressed out mum, who's singled-handedly bring them up. She's a strong woman and I wish her and her kids the best.

When Yoseph scolded by her mom and he said "Dont cry" its really heartbreaking. The mom is struggling but ofcos the kids are struggling too. Living with trauma of being kidnapped, war.. and now having to live without a father by their sides. The oldest one was only 12 yrs old, and he had to be strong and faced a lot of difficulties from the very young age along with his other siblings. I hope things work out for them, reunite with their family, and live a happy life.

I was crying and smiling with her because she reminds me on my mother. my mother also studied back home but when we moved to Germany she was focused on our education and did all the jobs she could. I remember her crying and saying that she tried to do everything she can to become an independent and educated woman and ended up cleaning apartments. since then my goal was to let her live the life she strived for. my mother's goal was to give all of us education and she did it. today i am able to support her and i hope to be able to give her everything she ever dreamed. I hope one day these kids will understand and support their mother. she is a strong mother. she is perfect and I hope she knows that. in sha Allah everything will be just fine, her kids will make her a happy and proud mother and understand what she did for them and how lucky they are to have such a mother. my heart is with you. May Allah help you and your family.

Her kids were so rude (I'm referring to when she was trying to teach them proper arabic). I get them in a way because they may feel bored learning, but they were very disrespectful to their mom. When they are older they will understand how stupid of them it was to not listen to their mom and they will regret it. I am an immigrant myself and am glad that I never lost pride in my language and culture. Assimilation is difficult and easy at the same time; Korea is a homogenous society, but I feel that, as an immigrant, it's very important to still retain your culture in a land of homogeneity. I hope they improve in that aspect and take her lessons seriously. The moments you have with your family, especially mom, are short and fleeting. Treasure them while you can :)

I wouldn't base all that on this show, I'm pretty sure they could have edited out anything that would make the country or people look bad. From my experience living here Muslims face a lot of discrimination, for example there was once a Muslim woman in one of my university classes and people in the class kept trying to pull off her hijab or telling her that people like her don't belong in Korea. Another problem for Muslims is many of them get denied services and jobs simply because they're Muslim which is why a majority of the Muslims residing here live in poverty. Another thing is halal food is extremely hard to find and buying imports in Korea is very very expensive.

As an Arab myself, I find it so hard to watch Arab's kids and families all over the Middle East live such hard life, in iraq, Palestine, Syria.. if they choose to stay in their countries they will die, and if they choose to leave, they will live a really hard life... this mother from a well-educated woman to woman with no job, only cuz she left her country.. that's so heart broken.... yusra habibti you are such a great woman, I respect you and all Arabs women who works so hard and never ask for help from any one even there own families... hope all Arabic countries will be on peace, that day will come, we will keep fight.. tell we have our lives back... stay strong, you are such a powerful woman.. ❤️

ashneko2 😄😄 I don't think that this is right, because I live between them and there is nothing bad between us,there is one who is training with me and an other one studied with me , also egypt has to parts african one and the other is asian, but also i can't say to you that all people here or all arabs are good there whom is bad of them ( behaves badly and have bad morals ) but at most we don't justify people as their color or their origin and quran tells us not to justify people but by morals and faith but we also must respect others who is non-muslim if he was good and has good morals.

aznfangrl612 FYI ive been raised a muslim now a christian. I know all about this. The god of islam is NOT the same god in christianity. YOU are the one that needs to learn. In christianity Jesus is seen as the Son of God and is equally divine. In Islam Jesus is seen merely as a prophet. Allah and the God of christiaintiy taught different teachings and if you study the two holy scripture you will find the two are completely different.
