When Em says "Like that feature when I stole the show; sorry if I took forever" he's referencing the track "Forever" by Drake where he, Kanye West, and Lil Wayne were featured artists. Eminem's verse on that song is leaps and bounds ahead of the others in terms of flow and rhyming schemes. It's a really good song

Leaps and bounds is correct. You sit there vibing to the track thinking "these guys are going off this is great", and then Eminem comes on, and you sit there with a gaping mouth thinking "omg, the others sound like newbies" Em takes it to another planet

eminem and 50 cent have always been really good friends, he was listing people he inspired and said he brought the world 50 cent, because he signed 50 back in 2003

9:38 He didn't have a battle with 50, he was addressing lord jamar there. He was just saying he brought the world 50's music because he discovered him and got him signed to shady records, he wasn't angry with him! :)

Nah, the shadow was the criticism received for revival, the shadow is born in the beginning from that tablet displaying criticism towards Em, he tried to run away from it but it kept chasing him until it finally got to him resulting in the creation of the Kamikaze album in which he disses everybody. That's why at the end he steps on "revival".

@@oTurkish13x It could be interpreted like that, but the shadow is Shady because this music video is followed by the venom music video where the guy picks up the revival cd, and Shady is 'venom' that takes over them. He probably deliberately did it in a way that you can get many meanings from it.

@@Oatmilllk I know and I get what you're saying, the two are related but still different, just as the symbiote is different to Venom. The symbiote is this destructive force just like the criticism and Venom is the host influenced by the symbiote making it dangerous, so Em turned into Shady due to criticism just as the symbiote turns to Venom, cause and effect, but that's just my take

The shadow demon or whatever the fuck is 100% absolutely Slim Shady chasing him and eventually consuming him and they become one. Not that he became Shady again when it finally caught him... but, that it created a hybrid Marshall/Shady abomination that he wanted the world to see and realize that all the hate from him growing and maturing as an artist and not sticking to what he was back in the day, created this new super Em that is a cocktail of all his personas.

throughout the song he was being chased by the Symbiote because this CD came out about the time Venom did and he even did the end credits song and it's called Venom. when Em says he brought the world 50 cent, you did squat, piss and moan he was talking to Lord Jamar and throughout that little piece he was talking about when Lord Jamar said Eminem was a guest in the house of hip hop

I'm the same way as you Tom, I don't usually listen to vulgar music but sometimes I just listen to Eminem to admire his talent. There's so many great references and punchlines in this song but 3 of them are my favorite: the Hunger Games reference (one of my favorite movie franchises), comparing the Grammy's to leeches and saying "every parasite needs a host" absolutely brilliant and straight facts, and also "I have no faith in your writer's, I don't believe in ghosts" lol.

Someone else has probably already said this but when he's talking about 50 Cent Em is saying how he brought 50 into the public eye, more or less. The bit at the end to my understanding leads directly into the music video for Venom, again something someone might have already said.

Fab reaction Tom! And I totally agree - this is my fav type of Eminem track!! The Kamikaze album is full of tracks like this and it all came from the hate he received for Revival. (The album he stamped on at the end). Em tried something new with Revival, tried to focus more on content but had a lot of production choices people didn’t like - and so many features with more ‘pop’ centred artists. For me, it has some of his best writing on tracks like Castle, Arose, Walk on Water etc. But there are quite a few tracks I’m not a huge fan of. He did something different though - and Em thinks a lot of people didn’t give it a chance. That’s why he ‘surprise’ drops albums now, so the press don’t have time to start slating the track list, the features etc. For the launch of Curtain Call 2 last year, Paul Rosenberg (Em’s long time manager) did a special podcast series. He had people on that were important in Em’s career and who knew him well - Skylar Grey, Royce, Mr Porter, etc. Then Em did a special 2 part episode with him talking about the hate he gets etc , if you’ve not heard it, it’s definitely worth checking out. I’m sure people will have commented on the 50 Cent bar already lol! You were right that he mentioned Joe Budden and ref’d his DV allegations. The Lord Jamar bars were also funny, Lord Jamar had said that Em was a guest in the house of hiphop and compared him to Elvis taking over Rock and Roll back in the day. So essentially, making money and penetrating a culture that wasn’t theirs to begin with. So I think that’s why Em talked about breaking into his ‘house’, putting his feet up, using the remote etc. And that also came off the ‘pelvic bone’ bar! Lol! With the black figure, all through the video, Em looks like he’s trying to get away from it, but at the end, he looks like he accepts it back into him and jumps out the window. I think this represents the Slim Shady side of him that he’d tried to get away from in Recovery, Revival etc. He was accepting that shady will always be a part of him - and he’s continued with that for the most part with MTBMB and Side B, signing his album notes as ‘Shady’! Lol There was also a tie in with the black figure and Venom, the Marvel movie - and last track on the album. This video goes straight into the Venom music video. Great reaction Tom! ❤

Eminem gave up 1/2 his Super Bowl time to bring 50. They’re super tight. The shadow was Shady re-entering Em. Em tried stepping away from him with Revival bc he equates Shady with his addiction. People slammed the album; saying they didn’t want “woke” Eminem.

That figure chasing him is probably some of the things you said like the negativity, who he might become..well its actually exactly that. Its basically slim shady, his alter ego, and since hes been sober hes tried not to he shady anymore because its a whole different persona. So with the negativity and everything, it's forcing the slim shady demon back to him and hes just trying to avoid it but people's comments get the best of him
