Got my first bike the other day! 2005 DL1000 V-strom! absolutely love it.

I bought 2005 1000 in CA with 6 grand on the OD......6000plus!! 2999.00 bucks....looked brand new....wow!..with Givi luggage...As soon as i drove it away, i realized why he sold it....They drive like a tank at low RPMs...so around the city, it's a real muscle bike.....i gotta put all my muscle into....Anyway, got the clutch basket modified..Now it runs like butter...BUTTER i tell ya...it's a great bike...

Two years ago I owned an V-Strom650 (2008) and the only reason I changed it It's because I do a lot of Highway. I bought an V-StromDL1000 (2009) with 95 000km (59 000miles) on it and I love it even if in the off-roading It's a little bit tricky for my experience (more heavier). I just arrived from a ride in the U.S. and we did at least 800km (498), love the bike!

I was going sell my identical V-Strom 1000 today and get an MT-10 but I just can't seem to get rid of this bike. it fits me so well and I've done so many modifications throughout the years and I've only got 30,000 mi on it. I got rid of my BMW K75S and definitely regret it and I think I'll just regret getting rid of this one too. such a great bike. it's not great at anything but it's good at everything and it's never let me down whether it be hundred mile an hour trips through Florida storms on the interstate or light off-roading and trails. and I like brakes would be nice as I probably slide out the rear tire 20 times a year but I'm used to it and I trust the bike. when something breaks I fix it myself and I've got it all dialed in just the way I want it. Best 3000 bucks I ever spent.

Going to pick up a silver dl 1000 2006 next week. Looking forward to getting back to biking. The days of crouch rocket are over

I've just put a deposit on a 2008 with loads of extras. After 10 years away from bikes your video is getting me even more excited!

Hi Scotty, I think you now have one of the best bike on the road. Had my 02 now for 10yrs and would not change it for the world. As you say its comfortable, easy to maintain, parts are readily available. Just done the clutch on mine, really simple. Done some mods, heated grips, added a couple of power outlets, changed old hand guards for some decent wrap around ones. Added front and rear cameras and changed the wing mirrors to give better wider view. Would not change this bike for anything. Goes anywhere, anytime you want to go with no complaints. Happy riding and stay safe and remember dress for the slide not the ride. Need any info on the mods let me know.

I just bought a 2006. It’s a great ride.

Still got mine 2002 model bought in the end of 07 for 5k. I can't let it go 15 years, GPR hollow exhaust pipes with a sound like a thumper 93 hp on the wheel.

I have called it The Beast too. Also The Poweful and The Internationale. 😉

Bought a 2005 DL 1000 in same colour a few months back and loving it! And also adding the mods too like you.

As a beginner Rider this is my first motorcycle, and I very much enjoy riding, and watching videos about it. 😎
