My biggest suggestion is to actually make your first camping trip actually in your yard, you will learn so much

As a long time biker (6 decades) and RV owner for 7 years I can say you have the best of both worlds now. Being able to stay in your own place while biking across the country is great. Started with a larger motorhome pulling an enclosed trailer. Now I've got a 25' Work and Play toyhauler trailer (Forest River) with a 3500 Ram to pull it. Your first smart purchase, a weight distribution hitch-good job. RV thoughts: watch as many you tube RV how to videos before you go out (RV Odd Couple has some of the best, the good, bad and ugly of newbie's to experienced, RV Wingman Alan Warren: HappilyEverHanks; Longlonghoneymoon are decent as well) . It will save much headache and possibly keep you from critical mistakes that are unsafe/expensive. I even went to Texas to the NRVTA for 2 weeks to learn about these things, best money spent if you are going to do it a lot. They offer on-line training now. Got my advanced RV Inspectors certification there. These RV's aren't "gas and go" vehicles. Knowing the basics will make life so much better. EG: wheel bearings/tires are CRITICAL issues; electric systems managment CRITICAL; HVAC/Water heater systems are IMPORTANT issues; water leaks from the roof and seams/windows are IMPORTANT issues, etc. Towing safely is A CRITICAL issue, one to be competent in for sure. 65 mph towing is commonly agreed upon as a safe speed; however you see the road warriors going 75+ down the road. Really dumb. Watch a few RV crash you tube videos and get religion. Done well you will have a great time. Done poorly and you will experience a not so great time. Sorry for the long comment. My first big trip south with the bikes is coming in a few weeks, can't wait! Enjoy the learning and be safe out there.

You hit the sweet spot right off the bat! We’ve owned pop ups, teardrops, travel trailers, motor homes, and each has its own issues and disadvantages. In our 60’s now and have settled on a “home-built” toy hauler based on a 26 foot aluminum car hauler that we can tow comfortably with a half-ton truck. It took us 25 years to find the sweet spot, and you hit it the first time out.

My wife and I owned a fifth wheel camper and when you set up your camper make sure you keep your black water(toilet) valve closed and your gray valve open for constant flow, when you dump your black tank make sure you run water through your toilet till you see clear water and get a clear sewer connection for your camper to see when your black tank is clean. One more thing make sure you elevate your sewer hose for proper drainage to the camper sewer and enjoy your camper. 👍👍👍👍

Congrats on the new toy. I'd suggest repacking the trailer bearings before any big trip and yearly after. Preventative maintenance will save you. Know the trailer height at it's tallest point. Pay attention to the caulk on the roof, when it dries out it cracks. See you on the road.

As a CDL holder...big tip for when you're backing it in to places. "Turn towards your trouble"....if your trailer is going too far to the driver side, turn the wheel left. Too far passenger side, turn the wheel right. Hope that makes sense. Love the new hauler!

The Bed will always be a pain. Your propane tanks will go a lot further than you think. Also you can upgrade to larger tanks if needed. You will love it once you get settled into it. Happy Camping and safe travels.

My dad towed a giant 5th wheel with a medium sized boat behind that with his half ton pickup and it worked fine for several years, although it squatted a lot. You got this! Lets go camping!

Congrats!! Beautiful trailer. One piece of advice with towing with a smaller truck is never forget to put it in tow haul mode. Have a similar size snowmobile trailer and forgot to check a few times after stopping for fuel mine automatically turns off when you turn the truck off and messed the transmission up letting it go into overdrive

Check the load rating on your truck tires! Weak sidewalls can lead to more trailer sway. Better thires will help.

You have come a long way for sure. I started watching your channel when it was just you and a dyna. Now it's you and Jordan, a toy hauler, and 73 motorcycles 😂. Living the dream.

I'm so glad to see you guys are doing it right. The weight distributing hitch, the airbags, and the trans cooler are a must, especially with a 1/2 ton. I would also suggest an inline filter for the water hookup and a hose made for potable water. Try to load the bikes as far forward as you can, and be careful the first few times hauling the bikes, as having weight behind the axles can get ugly fast.

If you want it to last then maintenance, maintenance; maintenance! Anywhere there’s a hole in the roof or walls there will be water trying to get in and if it does the plywood under the roofing and siding will rot in no time at all. Remember it’s always flexing going down the road so things move. Stay on top of sealing windows; vents; pipes coming out of the roof and trim pieces covering the edges of the siding and you should have a good experience. Good luck

I do a lot of dry camping. If you don’t have a generator, pick up a second battery. When your first battery dies, swap to the second and you can usually find a garage and for a couple bucks they’ll charge the battery. Best of luck with the camping.

On your mattress sheet problem, beddy's makes a zip up fitted mattress sheet. kinda like a mattress sleeping bag. A bit pricey but pretty cool. I don't have one for our RV but always wanted one.

There is a learning curve on it... but having our camper at Sturgis is a game changer.. You can not eat out all the time... Save on drinks... actually make your own coffee in the morning and basically have a home where you have your bikes.

Walmart usually have an RV section. There you can pick up all of your water, sewer hoses, and most things that you'll need to get you going at a fraction of the cost that a stealer would charge. Also, empty your black tank fist, then rinse the sewer hose when you empty the grey tank second. Keep a close eye on your tyre pressures.

Congrats! If you haven't found them already, there are "extension" tow mirrors that just strap to your current mirrors, rather than replace your mirrors. Be safe and keep the wheels on the road!

Congrats on the toy hauler! We've been trailering for many years. You would be surprised how long those propane tanks will last. When they do get low have them refilled vs exchange. If you exchange them the ones you get in return may have about 5 pounds less propane than what you will get when you refill. I believe it is cheaper to refill as well. Also, drain the black water first, then the gray water. Once drained, add about a toilet bowl full of water with a deodorizer packet to the toilet. Make sure the dealer repacked the wheel bearings and checked the brake shoes. Should have been done before you purchased! Routine maintenance before setting out on a long trip is a big deal. Hey, good for you guys! My family always enjoyed our campers. Have fun but keep in mind when pulling trailers that the tail can wag the dog really quickly if you’re not careful. Anyway congratulations.

I lived in a camper for several years. They aren't great for cold winters. But you can get foam "plugs" for the roof vents for insulation. The old style black and gray water tanks and valves were easy to figure out. Drain black first then gray. Thank me later. When towing make sure you use tow mode. And if available turn off overdrive to save the truck transmission (I learned that the hard way) As always love your content. And I'm looking forward to seeing more videos in your new toy hauler! Biggest question is how many Harleys can you fit inside it at once?

Congrats! Motorcycles and RVs are a great match. You don't necessarily need wheel chocks, and especially for a smaller bike like the Himilayan. Put a tie-down through the rear wheel or tie it to the passenger peg mount and tie it behind the bike. Then use tie-downs on the handlebar or crash bars to pull the bike forward. Easy and secure.

I would highly suggest getting an RV specific GPS from Garmin. You can set the specific parameters for your vehicle and it can save you from roads with low hanging bridges and other roads you don’t want to be driving on. Also invest in a pair of walkie talkies so you can guide the driver into camp sites. There are going to be times when you won’t have cell service. I hope you have many fun adventures!

One thing to consider. If you have a lower bike you may need to take the trailer off of the hitch and raise it up in the front. That will make it easier to get a bigger bike in. I have a Forrest River Grey Wolf 30 footer and that is what I have to do when I load my Harley Street Glide into. When I first got the camper I tried to load my bike into it with the trailer setting flat and It scraped the little aluminum guard and scuffed up the linoleum in the trailer. I hope you have lots of fun with the toy hauler I love mine. They are very versatile.

I haven't read all the other comments, so forgive me if this is repetitive. Good on you for getting the weigh distro hitch off the bat, but make sure you are mindful of where the weight of your bikes are within the trailer so that they do not change the handling dynamics to much. It will take some trial and error and some time spent at a truck stop with a CAT Scale but you want to have 10-15% of your trailers weight on the trucks hitch. Spending some time doing that upfront will make your life so much more easy going down the road. Enjoy the trailer and happy camping!

Congrats on the new rig. I didn’t read everyone’s comments so some of this might redundant. Number 1 great job on getting the weight dist. Hitch. It probably has sway control built in. Number 2 there are a bunch of KZfaq channels that will help a bunch. Like Keep your day dreams , The Border hookups, All about RV’s and changing lanes, plus many more. Don’t worry about cooking and the propane. Cooking takes very little propane. The heater / furnace takes a lot more. You might have to search these channels since they are several years old and the how too’s are mostly in the beginning. As for the bed you might consider two large sleeping bags zipped together. Easier than changing the sheets regularly. Looking forward to the new content

Congrats! I have an 18' Toy Hauler I bought about 12 or so years back. I haven't used it in a while since the people I went dirt bike camping with move on to other things and camping solo is a lot of effort with the trailer. Truck stops tend to have dumps for your black and grey water. With 2 propane tanks, unless you're constantly cooking, I can't see you running out of gas in less than a week. You can get gauges for the tanks so you can see how fast you typically use propane. Estimate your usage when not plugged into any power as the fridge likely uses propane as well, but will use electricity when available. If your truck has a V8, you should be fine. Don't load it up with tons of stuff, though. And avoid filling up the water tank until you are close to the destination. That'll make it easier to tow up a grade. My V6 Tacoma struggles on grades fully loaded even though the weight is well within its towing limit. I love my Taco, but I just can't take it on trips. The dirt bike camping I was doing when I got it is only 50 miles away and it's mostly flat to get there and the hills are short. It did fine. But I'm sure not taking it over the Sierras to go to Moab or anything. I need a V8. Or maybe a Class A or C toy hauler. Those are easier to park (and way more expensive since they aren't a trailer, they are a vehicle). Backing up a trailer is tricky, especially if you haven't done it. But if you're doing it together, you'll have a spotter to guide you in. I was backing in solo and frankly.. .that SUCKS. At the dirt bike place, I could usually pull through and so I only had to back up when parking at my RV storage spot. One night at a campground, it had 2' high posts along the edges really close to the trailer and I could NOT get it backed in for the life of me. Someone came over to complain, but they didn't offer to guide me in (what a dick!). If you're ever gonna take it out solo, a backup camera would probably be a good investment. It would probably make it a lot easier. At least during day time. That trailer you got is pretty cramped and dang, that bed will be tough to change sheets. But the back area looks pretty spacious. I think after a few trips, you'll find your groove with it and start to enjoy it. More space is nice, but it's more weight and you probably don't need much more space than that. Just don't pack a ton of heavy stuff and 3 harleys. The roadglide and the sportster might be a bit big to fit in. Measure first, and ride it in to the right spot cuz you can't bump it over like a dirt bike to make room. As I'm sure you know. You can write this off as an HTW expense, too. Hopefully, you'll get the chance to use it fairly often and not like twice a year. Enjoy!

KZfaq has sooooo many Rv and trailer videos to help you do everything. I suggest going to a near empty campground or a parking lot and practice backing that trailer into spaces.

How a toy hauler is set up is definitely a matter of preference. I really want one, but I can't stand the idea of the garage space being part of the living space. The problem is so many manufacturers just don't make a separation (a simple wall with a door would suffice) between the two. I only need to haul one motorcycle (a Triumph Speedmaster), so I don't need a massive garage area. In fact, there are some fifth wheels that have a version that has a space that's actually the perfect size that's located under the bed. Fifth wheels like that end up being really heavy, so a dually is pretty much required. Congrats on you guys' hauler! I hope I'm able to find the right one as well.

You guys are going to enjoy that toy hauler, ours is a 45 ft Luke 5th wheel and we pull it with a 2017 F-350 Diesel all loaded up with tanks full and the Harley in it we are grossing 36,400 Lbs. we are on our way back to MN., from AZ. Enjoy your new toy hauler.

I’d put 10 ply tires on the rear of truck to go with air bags and trans cooler. Gas stove will use very little propane- cook all you want. Enjoy!!

Most people find the fold-down chair/couch uncomfortable, and not very useful, unless you need a place for kids to sleep. Suggest removing them to save weight, and adding a couple comfortable recliners you can use inside and out.

First thing, get a campground with all hookups, connect your water first (get a filter) connect your sewage, connect your electric, make sure to get an inline power … I forgot what is called but it prevents bad power from ruining your rv, make sure you connect to the right power 30 amp or 50 amp not sure what you have…some campgrounds have cable but a Roku stick is where is at. Make a list of what you have to set up and tear down when you leave, nothing like forgetting to disconnect something and ripping it off. It has not happened to me but it has to others …anyway, if you have any questions hit me up.

It's a learning experience, we have a camper I wish I had a toy hauler though. Take bottle water and conserve camper water when showering and washing dishes. Have fun.

Just remember when you get into the hills towing that trailer, even with the Trans cooler, kick it out of OD or put tow /haul on otherwise it will kick in and out of overdrive over and over until it burns out the band.

That is really an awesome trailer. My wife and I travelled for 2,5 years as full time travelers in a toy hauler motorhome. We both ride motorcycles, so we had 2 motorcycles in the garage. We found out, that the garage is awesome for an office, when staying at a campground. We used that for all our video editing. Good luck with the trailer - new adventures, more fun 😊

We had a similar situation when we bought our camper. The truck (16 silverado) did not have a tow package. The camper was within its capabilities but it was geared wrong. It got shockingly bad mileage. Four miles to the gallon or less. I really can't fault the truck, it was not specked correctly for towing. We traded it for a truck with a tow package that did much better. A toy hauler is next on my list. Enjoy Camping with your bike along!

You probably will not run out of propane. Get a nice electric camp grill and a Blackstone griddle to cook on and the biggest drain on your propane system will be the water heater, a small electric heater will keep the camper at temp and the furnace will be a back up.

Get a good weight distribution hitch. Adding bikes into the back will take weight off of the tongue weight. This will cause the truck to actually raise in the rear when hooked up and cause not so steady trailering experience. The weight distribution hitch will help this.

I just picked up my first little used camper for some family fun (and drinking lol). Had it out in Sunbury and Buckeye Lake so far this month. I have a Silverado 1/2 ton and the previous owner gave me the weight dist/anti sway hitch, and only being a little over 3,000 lbs towing is easy. I'm still amateur hour with backing in, but picking it up. I find I have plenty of power on flat roads, but have to mash the pedal on any incline. I'm quickly finding that I wish I had went bigger already, but this one had bunks for my daughter and a friend. My tow capacity is 6,700 lbs, but I'll never go over 5,000. That camper you found is sweet!

You’re gonna love it. We have a 26 foot Forest River TH and love it. Best of both worlds. I did upgrade from a 1500 gasser to a F-250 diesel though. The hills made the 1500 struggle.

I do full-time RV in the case you’re curious those two small propane tanks will last you over a year of daily use

First make double sure to back flush every time you leave the campground and have a water hose just for that and get a white hose for indoor use and a water filter also a pressure reducer for campground hook up. One other thing is a surge protector and you can up grade the gas tanks to 30lbs or 40lbs bottles they last longer than you think especially if you not winter camping and not using the heat.

ive live in a camper for a long time in the oil field and hauled campers for a living. if you only use your propane for the cook stove and hot water heater it will last for a good while. if you start using the furnace it will go real quick. now the shower is gonna be a challenge. those small campers dont have verry big hot water heaters. they might last 5 min if your lucky. i would look at putting a on demand in it if your gonna be staying in it for long periods of time. congrats and safe travels.

Black tank flush is great to get a general cleaning done. One thing I used to do on my previous toy hauler is to drain the black tank at the RV park before I leave, flush it a few time with the tank flush hook up, then close it all down, add a couple bags of ice and some fabric softener, drive to your next stop, hook up and flush again. Or if storing back in your driveway, find a place to stop before you get home. Some Love's and Pilot truck stops have RV hookups. Weight distribution hitch is a must have and hopefully it has an anti sway bar on it. Don't get in a hurry to get anywhere, and I am a little worried about Appa going into the garage and picking weight up off the tongue but that is something you will have to gauge.

Suggestion, put your refrigerator in auto and it’ll run on propane on your journey to where you’re going and then once you plug-in, it’s switches to electric

FYI take it to the T A at 37 and 70 just south of Hebron they have grey water disposal.

If you take the cat in the truck, take the litter box and we lined the back seat are with a tarp. We had a LOT to clean up after taking our cat in the truck the first time.

Owned campers for years. Dont worry about the propane and ifit does bother you just get a gauge to put on them.

I've had my toyhauler for two seasons. I also tow with a 1/2 ton. I'm at its limit at 7,000# and 1,100 tongue weight 36' long with apposing slides, Add a 900 pound motorcycle then the tongue becomes lighter, I also use weight distribution hitch. I tow slow and safe and am never over my head. Enjoy your camper!!!

Congratulations on the new purchase!! We entered the camper life last year, there is plenty to learn but you'll do fine. Don't let people stress you out, just do things your way and you'll have a great time. I also have a half ton truck, can be a little stressful on hills but patience will be your friend.

congrats on your purchase, regarding the two 20 lbs propane bottles, think of it like an outside gas grill, it will take a long time to use up 2 bottles of gas,

re Propane, Cooking myself two meals a day for three weeks, I used 1lb. of Propane, the bigger of the disposable bottles you can buy. Those tanks in front of your thing are 20lb. each. You can actually weigh the tanks to determine how much is left. You will need to weigh them empty for tare, then weigh them full. The rest is just math and a fish scale. Even allowing 1lb. per week for cooking, you can quickly get a go/no go by weighing your tank. During heating season is harder, you might need to weigh more often until you understand the usage rate. Those 20lb. tanks can be swapped out at any lumberyard and most gas stations, so no problem if you find you are low. You can also use them one at a time, so you can always have a full extra to give you four hours to find a gas station.

Those gold plates are for pitbull strapless “tie down” for bike. Typically only for sport style bikes they are amazing. They are a lot like the “biker bar” for Harley’s

Those plates on the floor are Pitbull trailer restraint system. The absolute best and only way that I'll haul bikes because they don't have to be strapped down.

Congratulations!! 💩 Yucky Black water tank advice: leave the Drain valve closed when you’re hooked up at a campground to make sure you leave some liquid stay in there. Otherwise you’ll get a giant poop mountain in the holding tank that’s a nightmare! That new Blackwater Flush thing helps address that mistake we’ve all made!

Awesome! You will love it. I have been camping since '09. The first one was a 30', but back then we had a F250. Now we have a 24' with a Dodge 1500 and it pulls it fine. But, I wish I would have gotten a toy hauler now, because we are so much more into motorcycles. We are now taking two vehicles. One to haul the camper and one to haul the bikes. Have taken cats before also. Enjoy!

you should be able to get 7 to 10 days out of those two gas tanks maybe cooking 2 times a day bring your charcoal grill along also it will be a big help

Just when you had me thinking you were doing recon in Florida for a new house. You blow me away with Mr. Two Wheels is going to get to travel more with awesome stuff.

Don't fret on the propane much. 20lb tanks will last quite awhile. If you go through 2 tanks in a year you're in it every weekend. We fill pop's propane 100lb tank and it runs his fridge mostly, and it'll easily last a year and a half, with him taking 3-7 trips a year ranging from weekends to week long. Tank draining isn't horrible, drain black tank 1st, that way the gray tank kinda rinses the line out. Depending on the truck, if it has the tow package, it's likely got a trans cooler on it already, that being said (depending on year) there is a hack where you flip the thermostat on the transmission and it runs way cooler. I think your truck was in the 14-18 range. There should be a trans temp display in the info screen options in your dash, 200 is ok, 230 is bad. Tow haul is key, and pretty awesome to listen to it rev match downshifting. If your truck and trailer has setups for trailer brakes, that is a plus. Backing is nothing but practice, you just have to remember to get the trailer to turn the way you want, you turn the wheel the opposite way, then you have to chase it once you get the desired angle. Might be worth investing in some add on tow mirrors for the truck, they'll help alot going forwards or backwards. As has been mentioned, it would also be good to service the trailer bearings.

Ok if u don't have look into screen for back door. Magnet or Velcro to floor when in use to keep out bugs. And I will say it has to way over. 5000 lbs. My 18' single axle does

Oh mean a black water tank flush is the best thing because she clean it out good and not have a smell after you dump your black and gray water tanks. So after you dump your black water tank first and then your gray to clean out the hose, then leave the black open and turn on the water to the black water , flush hook up and fill it a little bit in the black tank with the close the black tank dump and then re-open the dump valve flush areas run it for a you see clear water coming out of the Black tank dump vale . Making all videos out there that people show you how to hook up everything and flush everything you’ll get it with a few campouts and then you guys will become pros. Happy camping

Oh. forgot the propane thing. Those tanks last a long time if your not using the heater. But you have two tanks for a reason. When one runs empty, you switch an take the other to be refilled so you never run out. Do not exchance, have yours refilled. You can also dump hot water on the tank an instantly see how full it is. Dont buy a gauge. They just read pressure. The presure changes based on ambent temperature, not fill level. So those guages show full on hot days an empty on cold days.

Nice toy hauler you have there. A couple of things I suggest to get in the habit of doing.... The tank flush system, which is only on the black tank, should be used each time you dump the black tank. Dump the black tank first. Second, dump the grey tank. Then run the flush system for a couple minutes with the black tank valve open. NEVER LEAVE THE BLACK TANK OPEN FULLTIME. After the flush is complete, close the valve, put about five gallons of water into the black tank via the toilet. I use a plastic bucket to confirm enough water is put in. This five gallons of water will continue to slosh around and keep any leftovers moving around. The water heater and refrigerator, if running on LP, do not use much fuel. Those two 20# tanks will last a good while. I usually have one tank on, one off then I know for certain how long they will last. Using the furnace uses quite a bit more. Happy camping and riding.

1) Get a pressure regulator for your water hose, some campgrounds have high pressure that will burst your hose. 2) Buy RV toilet paper, it dissolves much better. You won't like it as much, but normal paper tends to clog. You will HATE unclogging.
