Problem is I lost a lot of footage of stuff and I sometimes rush things a bit because of my work schedule. I rarely have time to work on my cars. I work 6 days. Also I didn’t record the airtec install itself all too detailed because I made a video of MTC intercooler and that basically is the same steps. 👍🏻

M9 BEAST you need to adjust the hood patches on the side. . It will raise your hood up a bit and will have a slight gap to bumper. But it is what it is with that intercooler unfortunately

You can also take out original intercooler aluminum mounts (brackets?), which author of the film didn't do. I had same issue.

I also did the same as J_spool as that was the airtec instruction and now has a ugly gap between the bonnet and front bumper.... i wonder if i can grind off the diverter down a bit.

IVIonsteRz Gaming it was technically a gift. What I purchased along with it was another part from orranje so o said screw it and ordered the intercooler. More of a bling factor honestly. Plus it was being gifted so couldn’t say no

Darren Lucas the MTC is more than fine. Only issue I find if any is cooling. As you may know the airtec has the scoop function and therefore cools probably more efficiently. Unlike the MTC. Now you could and I have seen some peeps modify the stock plastic oem scoop to fit the MTC so it directs air like the oem one. You can take a dremel and make it work. With that being said... is it that much noticeable probably not. But better cooling is better for ignition timing. The r53 iats can get very crazy since everything is so compact. If I were you and you ain’t running the stock intake scoop duct , I would try to modify it to do so.

@@JSpool1 top man, thanks. I intend to close the seal on the bonnet using draft excluder brushes from eBay( don't laugh) They will work in the same way as keeping cold air out...the idea is sound and it should make a tight seal.

Darren Lucas if it works it works man. Later down the road you could add meth to keep temps down. But honestly.... the R53 isn’t a power monster. They limited to what you can do power wise. They meant to be fun little go karts. Hence why I got myself a R56 😅 about a month ago lol

Darren Lucas did you already install 380cc injectors and did the jcw flash or a tune reflash? There’s a really cheap way to get the upgraded injectors and a flash. Hit me up on IG. It’s the same name as here J_Spool. I put the info out on the forums but I rarely go on there and it’ll take me a while to find the link lol

@@JSpool1 got the 380 injectors bud....but not reflashed yet. It needs it though as it's over fueling on start up

Preferably yes. You are introducing more air. At the minimum you need bigger injectors. Jcw at least which are 350cc. Or bosch 350cc injectors with jumper clips. I opted for bosch because I spent $100 or so on new lifetime warranty injectors. Unlike buying used jcw injectors with no warranty for an arm and a leg.

Yes its the clamps, specifically the driver side

l-i-h either cut the clamps or others wrap tape around the Intercooler snout on driver side to make it more thick so the oem width clamps fit without cutting

l-i-h also the Intercooler I had was the MTC one so it was the more expensive one out of all the eBay ones. Suppose to be a direct copy of airtec according to forums

Jose vazquez it was around $500 or so I believe. Thanks to the currency conversion. As far as what’s better it’s all subjective. This one compared to my original MTC is probably a tad better because of the actual working air duct. I think the superb one would be the one that’s water cooled. But idk if they even available still. It all depends what you trying to accomplish. Me honestly I have more cars and well... this car isn’t a power monster. Was never intended to be. They fun... but are restricted to the power then can make unless you convert to turbo. That’s a whole other can of worms lol

That’s because I have a MTC intercooler install video and it’s literally the same thing. This is only a video showing my upgrade from that. 🤷🏻‍♂️
