The marks or "holes" are from air getting trapped between the soap and the silicone. Just bang it on the table or floor after you pour and before you texture the top to get the air out. Then you have a clean sided soap. P.S. You are awesome and I love your videos!!

You can also use a rubber mallet to gently tap the sides of the mold to free the air pockets. Saves lifting or slamming the mold potentially damaging the mold frame, counters or flooring and it saves from potential spills.

can also take a handheld cheap vibrating back massager to vibrate the air bubbles out. Just hold it to the side of the mold for a few moments.

@@JerikaZimmerman yeah, it's a year old, I hope that you were able to adjust the sound settings and turn off auto focus. it's not a big deal. it was something that hit my attention whenever it picked up all of the sounds in the room. these are good problems, because you have high quality equipment and all that comes with it. I know you have a bunch on the plate of Todo. I know if nobody says something, nobody knows. I'm not looking to say on every video or complain. it's something that caught my eye and ear. I think it would be interesting to find out how much time a week you spend on making soap, bath bombs, shampoo bars, versus how much time is spend on the record keeping side like ordering, packing, shipping type things. So product making time versus support stuff.

@Jerika Zimmerman I think the little marks on the side of your soap are what they call "Silicone rash". It is said to be due to overheating during the saponification process in the oven. I read an article which also calimed that silicone rash is more likely to happen when you pour at trace as it forms some little air pockets when you pour your batch and therefore pouring it at tricker trace could avoid that issue. I haven't tried CP yet, but have been studying it a lot and learning so much from you as well. Can't wait to finally feel confident enough to put my hands on that. I love your videos. Thx for being so awesome!

Those look like very nice molds. I am sure you will enjoy using them. I have been doing tall and skinny since before tall and skinny was a thing. LOL. I have just always liked that shape better. At that time you couldn't get pre-made tall and skinny molds so my husband made me large slab molds so that I could split them into loafs that were tall and skinny.

Wow the timing in this is ... I just spent a heck of a lot of time going through silicone molds on Amazon, looking for a mold similar to this. My husband likes Duke Canon soaps. They’re huge 10 oz bars 5”x3.25” and I’d like to get a mold where I could make soap on a rope this size. Couldn’t find anything on Amazon and decided to try here and your video popped up at the top of my feed

The soap came out beautifully, I love the color combination 😍. I'm currently using a silicon mold also. I get the little indentations on the side of my loaf from time to time. They are from are bubbles. After you pour your soap you will need to tap the mold on the counter to release the trapped air...this should clear up the little indentations.

My entire market was my other half, who proceeded to sell to his family and friends while I was away and getting cancer treatments! Just a simple scrubby, super cleansing soap that really took stink out of skin(he was an everyday farmer who, as usual, had to turn his hand to *everything*, just like every other farmer has since the beginning of time,😉😘👏👏, but also, gets FILTHY, both visually and to the nose! I swear, coming to the breakfast table was, for a while a contest of patience between who could/would hold out the longest. My nose, versus, his hands and forearms. I stumbled across the majickal destinkifier by accident, but by gum, it WORKS! TAKES ENOUGH OF HIS CALOUS' OF TO REMOVE THE TOUGHEST OF ODOURS AND LEAVES ENOUGH TO PROTECT HIS Hands, leaving them soft enough that they wont scratch my oh so much more feminine skin! But he doesn't have to register to callous up again, we're both happy.😁🤔💞🙃 his hands dont smell nor crack and hurt, nor are they calloused and rough, therefore *i* don't get scratched and am happier! Plus, the formula has been perfected and is simple to whip up now, so his hands are now habitually cleansed without reminders, so we're all happier! And no hog poo smell coming home in the morning makes our entire family MUCH happier!😘👏💞😉

I cut my bars at 1 n 1/8 inch thick. Personally I hate silicone because at least here in the states they are either to thick n don’t wanna come out or they are to thin and keep folding in while I’m trying to do intricate designs it drove me nuts! So I made my husband make me mold with the soap’s exactly the size I wanted and I love my freezer paper lol. However, I am very happy for u. We all have different preferences and if that’s ur thing I’m happy that u are happy that’s all that matters girl! I hope u get many beautiful bars of soap from that.🖤

When I first read the title of this video I totally thought you had named your molds Wintson and Walter! Lol! You can calculate how many ounces of oils you need pretty easy. The formula is lenght x width x depth = total volume. Then total volume x 0.39 = total ounces of oils needed. Then have google convert it to grams for you.

A few thoughts from MEMA......loved the new taller look.... love an imperfection here and there to reminds me it is hand made and not cookie cutter perfect.... and not manufactured a thousand at a time......... I believe women love to find a soap product for the men in their lives.....likewise discerning men look for a great smell that lingers and women can comment on......love to see Georgian Bay created this way......I believe the ‘King’ would appreciate his namesake......

I've been binge watching your videos since I subbed and came across this one. You may have already fixed this, but consider putting down your wax/parchment paper between the wood bottom and the silicone liner. This will allow the molded soap and silicone to just slip out to the left/right. :) Just an idea.

Hello Jerika, recently found your channel and am very grateful I found it! I’m about to start making my own soaps but there’s still some things not fully ready to start, but soon I hope to set off! I know the question I’m about to ask is off topic to this video but I hoped to get an answer responding in your last posted video. When I bought the lye for soap making I thought to be smart and just buy the liquid version, which is basically drain cleaner. Once I researched more and more and picked up recipes I realized they’re all with the pellets lye.. now the package of my drain cleaner lye says sodium hydroxide as it’s only ingredient, but there must have taken place a mixing with water, I’m assuming. I would by the pellets lye if it were not for the place where I bought it being extremely out of reach at the moment. My question is, do you happen to know anything regarding liquid lye and how I would go about it in recipes? Like if I need 2 oz of lye and 6 oz of water, would I take roughly 8 oz of this liquid lye, or would I go for just the 2 oz? I’m planning to make a test batch to give it a try, but still sending you the question in the hope you can help me out. Much blessings on your soap business, and thanks in advance!

How was clean up? I know with your parchment paper you just trashed it afterwards. The silicon added an extra step for you. Right?

I've never been attracted to the look of tall and skinny soap look until you did that comparison!!! The difference was so crazy good. But what about the oz? By filling the mold up more wouldn't it increase your size per bar? The soap def looked big enough as per your original recipe amt. Thanks for another great video. One day I'll be making soap for sale and ill def look at taller molds :)

I totally agree with you that soap looks so much better in the silicone mold versus using freezer paper it almost has a shiny appearance to it the only thing I don’t understand is why you have those puck marks on your soap i’ve only ever use silicone molds myself and I’ve never had that happen to any of my bars of soap before so I’m not quite sure why that’s happening with your
