the F430 is underrated imo due to its beyond stunning 458 replacement, but when you get up close to an F430 again you are reminded of how beautiful, low ad squat it is.

Ferrari's have such allure, I could sense how much you loved the car (the hat said it all) and the sense of occasion you got from driving it, but you're right. Once the honeymoon phase is over, you might start thinking about what you could have had (458 etc). Fair play for not diving right in Sam and logically thinking it through! Looking forward to the next!

Sam, hilarious intro, awesome video, superb! However as a commentor, I feel it my responsibility to lay down some advice that you didn't ask for so here it goes....get a tripod for the external passing/tracking shots!

Ferrari why not ? You only live once and it's a Ferrari. However you could save up and get a 458 in a few years (7 year service) . So I would wait and do it properly. Also f430 is a bit dated inside and possibly outside.

I think you should buy a Ferrari, look at how excited you're. In the previous test drives you've never been this excited! Buy something that makes you happy; will hold it's money too.

It's not £120k, but there's a a Ferrari approved 2012 458 for £145k up on autotrader at the moment if that's of any interest?

I think you are making a big mistake not to go for that gorgeous F430. It looks great, it drives and sounds great, its a one owner car, and since that's important to you, its through a Ferrari dealer. I know you ultimately want a 458, who wouldn't, but the F430 has some key advantages over a 458 that you may not realize. First of all its the last analogue Ferrari sports car, with a standard layout round dial dashboard where the 458 went to the all electronic gaming dashboard. Secondly the single clutch F1 gearbox has more of an appeal as it feels more natural than the always silky smooth 458s F1 (not saying that they 458 F1 is not good, its just perhaps too good). Lastly it has more than enough power which is at a usable level, whereas the 458 is already at a level where its really difficult to make use of its awesome capabilities. Of course dynamically the 458 is way above the F430, but that will just allow you to exercise more of your driving skill with the F430. Lastly on your note about purchasing from a Ferrari dealer, as a Ferrari owner who is now on his 2nd Ferrari (first 575M Maranello, second F430 Spider so obviously I'm biased) I can tell you that based on the way the local Ferrari dealer treats its potential customers as well as the prices it charges for the equivalent car with equivalent history and pedigree (some 30 - 40% more) there is no way I would even purchase a used Ferrari from the Ferrari dealer. Not only did the local Ferrari dealer offer less than half for my 575M Maranello than it was worth (based on their own sales of almost the exact same example), but they are asking a lot more money for a less optioned F430 with higher mileage and more owners than other reputable dealer. The dealer I purchased from are the authorized dealer for McLaren, Porsche, and Pagani in Ontario, Canada, and they know how to treat their customers much better than the local Ferrari dealer, and their stellar reputation backs this up.

Nice video Sam. Funny to see you get so excited. The F430 sounds amazing and still looks great, but needs the Stradale style alloys. A manual is a better investment but not a great daily driver as soon as you put loads of miles on they depreciate!! Consider a LHD 458 or a Porsche GT4 .

Hey Sam, there's nothing wrong with the F430 LOL! I got mine just over a year ago, and it's an approved used car. The main reason for this was the 2 year warranty. They are VERY expensive when they go wrong, and you do need that peace of mind. The other thing is, they are great to drive on a sunny day around country lanes, but they are miserable to drive on motorways and long runs as all you hear is a droning from the engine, and it's just not suited to it. The other thing is, in the cold weather and wet weather (like now) I drove mine a few days ago and it's so twitchy. The back end looses traction on mini roundabouts and stuff like that. They really are best for a weekend toy.
